Customs is scary
Is there any restriction on the import of money?
Just after Abkhazia, we want to go to a few more places, and then to Moscow for shopping! A decent amount will be on hand!

Maybe the days when you need to carry cash with you have passed, there are ATMs everywhere, access to the card is easy to find, and not to bathe. And if you really need to carry, then up to 5 thousand dollars. and up to 10 thousand dollars. (in different cases) you shouldn’t strain, open the law and everything about the import / export of cash into the territory of the Russian Federation is written there
аватар Natka1985
Pachok and what else to tell you??? hahaha!!!!!!
аватар nad9199990
No one asked at customs how much we were carrying. So that. think. that any amount is possible! But there are no ATMs in Abkhazia. Everywhere paid in cash. But be very careful with money. There were cases of theft.
аватар Natka1985
And how long can you hang at customs if we plan to drive our own car and are there paid guarded parking lots?
аватар nad9199990
We crossed the border on foot. But I heard. that the car has to hang around for a long time at the border. From a few hours or more. There is no service in Abkhazia. I haven't heard of paid parking.

I’m starting to wonder if it’s worth going there, somewhere in the reviews I read that cars are robbed there! There are thoughts to rush to Feodosia!
аватар Pachok
I'm wildly sorry, but I would like to understand the logic.
Abkhazia has a clear sea and beautiful mountains. In Feodosia there is a dirty sea and steppe and steppe all around, industry.
If you are already considering Crimea, then the South Coast or Koktebel is better. Sevastopol, at worst. And by the way, the Ukrainian customs may turn out to be no better than the Abkhazian. Cars, however, do not rob.

I have been going to Abkhazia for several years with a child. I will go again this summer. The nature, the mountains, the ease of communication are so magnificent, I like the sea. that pulls back again and again. They write a lot of horror stories. Not everything is true. But there are also disadvantages. You decide. Interestingly. you can ask. If I know. then I will answer.

"To Moscow for shopping" also surprised me very, very much. Cherkizon was dispersed, and in other outlets it is more expensive than anywhere else.

Question about medical care.
I am traveling with a small child, how is the situation (gagra) about hospitals and pharmacies ??? can local doctors help us?
аватар Natka1985
Pachok has never been to Cherkizon and I have no idea what it is, but in general you need to know where and why to go! I personally buy all winter outerwear only in Moscow stores during discounts!
аватар nad9199990
There is a polyclinic in Gagra. There are also pharmacies. But it is better to take a set of medicines with you. You can seek medical help in boarding houses and sanatoriums. In extreme cases, you can go to Sochi. It's 25 km.

The rich have their quirks. Muscovites make purchases abroad, in their hometown it is too expensive compared to Geneva and London.
аватар Pachok
And by the way, if your goal is shops, what does "decent amounts" of cash have to do with it? A small piece of plastic solves your problems :)
аватар Natka1985
I myself am a bank employee and I know for sure that normal interest is charged from the card for cashing out funds in another region, why should I give my money to my uncle !!!???
аватар Pachok
And, as an employee of a bank, do you know that when paying with a card in a store, no interest is charged? Well, in Moscow you don’t shop at Cherkizon :))), but in stores.
P.S. Tin. A bank employee is carrying cash across the border...
аватар Natka1985
Pashok you are a sick person, I need cash!!! it’s more convenient for me and there are no ATMs in Gagra, as I understood from the stories !!!!
аватар Pachok
Healthier than many :) what I wish you.
It is unhealthy for a bank employee to ask on a travel forum how to carry cash through customs. It is unhealthy not to realize that you can take cash for expenses at the resort, and a card for purchases in stores.
It's unhealthy not to have a sense of humor.
Have a good trip.
аватар Natka1985
and you do not have to be ill!!!

My God, what stupid questions!
On the other hand, if they were not there, there would be nothing to laugh at!
аватар Natka1985
Everyone is so smart... who cares, laugh at your face in the mirror!

If you do not buy things in the market, but in stores, then you can pay with credit cards there, in any country, and no interest is charged for this, it has been checked more than a dozen times. As an "employee" of the bank, you cannot but know this. Is your question really, to put it mildly, "strange" or did you just have a desire to show off a "decent" amount of money?
No sane person would write anything like this on the Internet!

And what is a solid pile of cash for, if it is bought at sales?))

My husband and I were in Pitsunda by car last year. They crossed the border there in 3 hours, back in 6 (there was no light on the Russian side). You cross the Abkhaz border without any inspection at all, the Russians ask you to open the trunk, but they don’t shove the bags. When entering Abkhazia, a declaration is filled out, which is then asked by Russia when leaving. DO NOT LOSE! There are shustriki who pass for 2.5t. without a queue. There were no questions about the amount of money, we indicated 5 tons each. R. on the face, they believed us. It’s easier to cross the border without a car: a queue at the window, you show your passport and honestly look at the customs officer, he honestly looks at the computer and, having returned the passport, wishes you a good rest or a happy journey home. So I brought a souvenir dagger, though with a check. The Abkhazians offered insurance, allegedly without it in any way. Tariffs are different, depending on the likes apparently. They took 50 from me. , from the husband 100, from the other man 120))) During the stay it was not useful. There are parking lots. Depending on how and with whom you agree. We bet with the police for 100 rubles. per day, someone in the hotel. I did not happen to see ATMs, because there was no need, but I think there are probably in Gagra and Sukhum. Sukhum has generally become a sort of pretentious resort.

we were in our car. If everything is fine with the documents, there are no problems!
аватар Tanya1095
Why carry cash with you, and even a lot? This is somewhat dangerous. There are no ATMs, but there is a bank. Money transfer system "Contact" to help everyone)))

We rested with my wife and 4-year-old daughter in Pitsunda. On the night of August 15-16, 2014, they passed through the Russia-Abkhazia customs.
Some kind of mug sits at the Russian customs point and is rude to tourists. I give him my passport, he drops it into the gap between the window and his desk, sits and stares blankly at me. I say: "The passport fell." The answer is "I don't know anything". This lasts about 5 minutes, the wife reassures her nearby so as not to freak out.
I say to the serviceman: "Do you understand? We are tired." In response boorishly - "What are you tired of?" I answer: "We were tired because we flew 4 hours in an airplane with a child."
Favorably holds up my passport, my daughter's birth certificate. At the same time, he comments: "Where are you all rushing? Get out, have a rest!"
Then he takes his wife's passport and finds that the laminate on the page with the photo has come off a little - "Anisiya Andreevna will not go further!" It’s good that I had my passport with me and they let us through.
Why are there no such problems on the Abkhazian side?
Vladimir Vladimirovich, take control, please!
