I have several questions at once.
My boyfriend and I are going to visit Dubai and check into the Flora Grand Hotel 4 *. And several questions arose at once ...
1. How much does it cost to eat in cafes/restaurants in Dubai? (it’s just that everyone speaks very abstractly, I would like more specifics.)
2. What would you recommend visiting/seeing?
3. What is near the hotel?
4. What is the best currency to fly with to exchange for their dirham?
5. Is it possible to buy excursions cheaper directly in Dubai, so as not through a tour operator7 If so, where?
6. How strict are the clothing restrictions for tourists?
7. How about alcohol in Dubai? (I was told that even if you drink alcohol in the room, you need to throw away the bottle so that no one sees it)
Thank you in advance.

So. I'll start in order
1. Depends on the location of the cafe/restaurant with a view of the singing fountains - coffee, tea, hot chocolate - 15-30 dirhams. Restaurant in the hotel ($ 50-60), a restaurant overlooking the "Sail", "Burj Kalif", "Banana Islands" (attractions) - 300-500 dirhams. Fast food in Dubai - the mall - you can eat up to 300 dirhams.
2. See the "singing fountains", take the elevator to the "Burj Khalifa to the tallest building in the world (the tour will be cheaper if you buy tickets in advance)" - in 60 seconds, If you like outdoor activities - Wild Vadi Water Park, near the "Sail "(refers to Jumeirah). Shopping lovers - Dragon mart. If you want a tour, you just need to go outside and ask where the tour bus stops. 60-$ - excursions throughout Dubai (two branches + entrance tickets to some museums). There is also a subway. If you are very interested, you can ride.
3. I don't know this.
4. Better with American $ - course 3.5-3.6 - dirham - cost 1 c.u.
5. There it turns out to be really cheaper to ride a taxi than tour operators will sell you.
6. Everything should be aesthetically pleasing, Preferably without bare shoulders and knees. Although, ours walk as they want, unless you want to attract the attention of local men.

7. Alcohol must be brought from home, up to 2 liters of spirits, 2 liters of wine are allowed, and beer can be bought at the Dubai Duty while everyone is queuing for an eye scan. I haven't heard of the need to quietly throw away bottles. The thing is that the attendants are mostly Filipinos, they generally do not care what you do. But maybe if the owner of your hotel is an Emirati (which is extremely rare), there may be stricter rules. But in no case will you be arrested, and they will not be kicked out of the hotel, though they can make a remark.

Thank you very much for your answer!
Regarding clothes: i.e. if, for example, I put on a decent T-shirt and don’t throw stones at me above the knees and don’t risk anything, will they just look askance or what?
Regarding the answer at number 5 ... but not all excursions, probably, can be independent by taxi, right? For example, you can’t get to Abu Dhabi on your own, which is why I asked specifically about the local sale of excursions.
Why an eye scan?

You can buy excursions on the beach or at the entrance to the beach, to which you will be taken from the hotel. The agents themselves will find you, don't worry. Or you will see a bunch of people around the agent with a bunch of brochures about excursions. There are two companies in Dubai that work with Russian tourists. Aladdin and Arabian Knight. Which one is better not to understand. Both say that they are better than competitors, we traveled everywhere with Arabian Knight. We were satisfied with the organization. But we think that Aladdin is probably no worse. Prices they are not much, but cheaper than tour operators.

Thank you, I'll take a look and look for them then)

I also remembered to ask...
Do you happen to know how they feel about tattoos? Especially for girls.
аватар K_alina
They treat tattoos, just like "our" men)))) And they do scanning at the airport for everyone, the retinal print remains in their database, I think, just in case.

What about excursions with Russian-speaking guides?
аватар Alex66
I wrote, and I quote - two companies working with Russian tourists. Well, not in Japanese, they will conduct excursions. If you are sick of your compatriots, then google the English Internet. Then you will find companies conducting excursions in any other languages. Try to go once with the Italians, I guarantee you will remember this excursion for a lifetime.

We went from Arabian Knight to the Dubai skyline for $25 per person. We swept almost all over the city, went out near the old Palace - we looked at pheasants or peacocks, I don’t remember :), in the Emirate Mall we looked at the snowy ski mountain, on Palma we went out near Atlantis, we took pictures, in the Jumeirah area we went out near some hotel where all of Europe resting - pretty, they took pictures with the Sail, in some kind of museum-auction, where beautiful and expensive little things and furniture are exhibited, in the Dubai Museum - there are funny episodes with wax figures, they watched a 5-minute video about the stages of development of the UAE, on Nasser Square we sailed on a boat, there we looked at all sorts of spices and shamanic aromas, we passed the golden quarter, and by 19-00 we went to the Dubai Mall to look at Burj Khalifa and dancing fountains. Everything is rich, interesting, cheap :) Maybe even I forgot something else. On the way, the guide told how people live, how and who built it all and answered our various questions. We did not agree on the delivery of us home to Sharjah, the people made a noise, but, thanks to the guide, she brought us by the handle to the bus, bought the tickets herself and put us on the city bus right to the hotel that was going. So everyone liked it very much.

There are all sorts of restaurants to eat, we mostly went to either pizza or shawarma, then eateries on the street, then in the Malls we ate various fast foods, we never spent more than 120 dirhams for 4 people. We ate shawarma/pizza and drank fresh juices.
