Is there public transport between cities in the UAE?
UAEDubai
We're going to Dubai. We want to visit the neighboring emirates - Fujairah, Abu Dhabi. Is it possible to go there in the morning by public transport and return in the evening without ordering excursions and taxis? And how much will the fare cost?

We have been to the UAE three times, there is no public transport there, only a taxi. It is better to take municipal taxis, this is a Toyota Camry, with yellow and red roofs, they have a fixed fare, they are not expensive. Ask at the reception to order a municipal taxi for you, they charge 3 dirhams for delivery to the hotel.

Thanks for the answer. Taxi is understandable everywhere, but it probably only travels around the city. It’s okay in the city, I heard the metro was opened there too. But I mean moving between cities. Local and visiting workers, after all, they somehow drive the same way. After all, not everyone has a car.
We just want to go from Dubai on our own for a day to Fujairah or other cities and return in the evening. We don't want to rent a car.

Public transport will not work. Locals and visitors usually live in the same emirate in which they work. And from distant emirates, such as Ras al-Khaim or Um el-Quwain, they drive cars, or companies deliver. As mentioned above, there is an option to take a taxi or rent a car. Another option is to take a tour. To see all the emirates, you will have to take 2 excursions: to Abu Dhabi and to all other emirates, incl. and in Fujairah. It will cost about 70 and 100 dollars, you can bargain. And the city now really has an excellent monorail. Even the VIP carriage is relatively inexpensive. The price depends on the distance.

There is a metro, but it is in Dubai!!! I think that the option with excursions is acceptable, but I would take a taxi.

Yes, it is somehow even surprising that public transport between cities is not in demand. Even the locals are probably not all rich enough to have a car, and visitors even more so. And the need to go to another city periodically can arise for everyone. Well, this option is no longer possible, so what kind of excursion can you take to swim in the Indian Ocean for a long time - several hours? On excursions, they probably take a little time for this.
And in the city itself, I think it will be easier to move around on your own. And what about the monorail that was mentioned in the previous answer? It's not the subway, is it?

Yes it is. The locals are all rich, almost obscenely). It is impossible to meet them walking on the streets - everyone has personal transport. Visitors from Saudi and other nearby countries are also not poor, so they either rent a car or take a taxi. For the locals there is socialism. If necessary, the state even gives free villas). And guest workers don't travel much. The tour of the 6 emirates includes an hour of swimming on the coast of Fujairah (coral slippers may be needed). There are also excursions such as fishing and (not sure if it is still offered) an excursion to neighboring Oman (there is a longer swim). Monorail and subway. As such, they do not have a subway, because. it is unrealistic to build it in the sand. Approximately the same monorail as in Moscow from VDNKh, only without a driver - everything is electronic. The train has 5 cars. 1 VIP, the rest are regular and special for women.

Clear. Thanks for the answer. It turns out they even have unemployed locals in cars. We also have oil, but it's not like that. Okay, let's go on an excursion to the neighboring emirates, and we will ride the metro around the city, I think it will be cheaper than a taxi.

Of all the emirates, public transport is well developed so far only in Dubai. The fare on the Dubai bus is 1.5 dirhams (approximately $ 0.41), tickets are sold by the driver at the bus stop, when entering through the front door. At most stops, routes and timetables are indicated, which, oddly enough, is carried out despite frequent traffic jams. All Emirati buses are air-conditioned, so even in summer it is quite cool inside. The buses are powerful, they drive fast, but due to the specifics of the route, the journey is quite long. The fact is that the bus does not go along the shortest distance from point "A" to point "B", as we are used to in Russia, but winds and calls into all the nooks and crannies. However, if you, for example, are traveling from Bur Dubai to Deira, this pleasure will cost you 10-15 dx by taxi, and only 1.5 by bus. If there is no money for a sightseeing tour, the bus can also help.
More recently, intercity buses have appeared in Dubai, with the help of which you can inexpensively get to other cities and emirates. Buses depart from bus stations. The fare in dirhams / dollars, see the table below.

You can find out bus routes by calling the municipal transport information desk at 800-4848 (in the Emirates, calls to numbers starting with "800" are free from any phone).

Thank you very much, I looked at the table. Very useful information. It turns out that you can go to Fujairah yourself. Is it possible to go to Fujairah in the morning, swim there, and return to Dubai in the evening?
аватар torride
I think it's possible. But keep in mind that the bus will travel to Fujairah for about 3 hours, and the contingent on the bus is still the same. Therefore, if there is a woman among you, it is desirable that she be very modestly dressed, i.e. hands and feet are closed, because The UAE, although a civilized country, is still an Arab one. And yet, I doubt that there is free access to water near the bus stop in Fujairah. Therefore, buy a detailed map, you may have to take a taxi from the bus stop to the bathing place. Good luck.

From Sharjah, the bus fare is 25 dirhams, it takes 1 hour 20-1.30 to dress for modest girls, not to demonstrate beautiful breasts of the arms and legs! From the bus stop to the Indian Ocean, or rather the Strait of Oman, about 15 minutes on foot or 5 dirhams by taxi! I love Fujairah very much! Have a nice trip!

Please tell me, if you take a bus from Dubai to Fujairah, where do you take the bus and when will the last one leave? We are going from 19.06 to a hotel in Fujairah)
