Looking in what region. Australia is a big country - there can be a significant difference. I was in June in Sydney (as well as all the districts), Canberra and Port Macquarie.

Giabetta, because Australia is below the equator, in the southern hemisphere, so when we have summer, it is winter there? Or not? It’s really interesting, and I passed geography a long time ago ...

We are talking about Sydney, Cairns and Ayers Rock.

Dear jabetta, what was the weather like in Sydney?
аватар jabetta
Naturally, the month of June is "winter" in Australia :) The quotation marks are given because their winter is radically different from ours. The "Sydney region" met us with weather comparable to our March or April. Early in the morning frost on the grass, while in the afternoon, the sun can specifically bake. I (like a deep "frost") dressed in pants (light) and a short-sleeved top, over which a jacket of very medium "warmth" was put on, moreover, she was removed very often :), though not in Canberra (it was the coldest , from visited cities).
Please be more specific, maybe I can help you :)

And yet! At this time, we practically did not see rain, except for "rain"))))))

Yes, and thank you so much!
And then I suddenly thought up impromptu in June to Australia on vacation. And my tour operator is not able to say anything about the weather, except for general phrases like "Well, there will be winter there")))
By the way, since you volunteered to advise me, there is a question - how is the food there? Is it expensive to go to a cafe? Or is it better to buy bread-cheese-ham in the store? And is the food very different from what we are accustomed to taste? For example, in America, I could only eat normally at the Chinese, American cafes cook absolutely terribly. But that's just my personal taste, of course.

There are no problems at all with food (naturally). Prices are almost the same as in America (I was both there and there), only Australian dollars (today the difference in the exchange rate is small, although the Australian dollar is still not much cheaper), but in Australia the quality of food is much higher. I think you will decide on the spot when it is more profitable to eat in the "public catering", and when to buy "bread-cheese-ham" in the market - it all depends on the circumstances. If anything, ask - I'll help as much as I can :)
Good luck!

How did you fly? From Kyiv via Dubai or from Moscow via Hong Kong? What can you say about the air carrier, its aircraft and service?
аватар jabetta
We flew Kyiv-Amsterdam-Singapore-Sydney KLM. We are satisfied with the carrier. On the way back in Amsterdam, because of us, they even delayed the flight so that we could run from one end of the airport to the other. Flying, of course, is not easy for such a long time, but Australia compensates for everything.

Strange .. but I was not offered the option to fly through Europe. True, maybe my tour operator was considering a cheaper flight. Or there are no other options for my dates.
And here’s another tip - they say that everything in Australia is very expensive, and if they see that it’s not local, then they fool around - starting from a taxi for a fabulous amount to the hotel, ending with excursions to the same Aquarium.
аватар jabetta
I don’t know what is very expensive there, but the prices in grocery stores are absolutely comparable to ours, but I won’t say anything about clothes at all. To be honest, we didn’t take a taxi, we got everywhere by public transport. We didn’t take excursions, but simply came to the right place and bought an entrance ticket.

Tell us the overall TOTAL - Are you satisfied with your Australian trip? Is it worth the money spent?
аватар jabetta
Undoubtedly!
How did you deal with the visa issue? We had difficulties with this and we received a visa only the third time. So back then there was an Australian consulate in Kyiv, but now it is gone. And what is the price of the issue now, if not a secret (you can in a personal).

I answer privately

And tell me where to go and look in Sydney? I mean not the most touristy places. For example, in Amsterdam, I found a couple of "places around the corner" where tourists are not taken, but the color and pleasure there are just licking your fingers)))
