Cyprus vs Turkey. I have been to Turkey several times, and for me this is the ideal vacation. But painfully pleasant prices for Cyprus at the end of September. Maybe someone has been to both countries and can help compare?

Interested in the weather in late September - early October, food, cleanliness of the sea and unloaded beaches (so that it was spacious). If someone has been to Northern Cyprus, it would be generally interesting to hear impressions.

Well, you have set the task! I think that everyone has their own ideal of relaxation and comparing such different countries is not right!
You know that Turkey has captured 37% of the territory of Cyprus!
Cyprus is definitely more expensive.

We have been to Turkey and Cyprus. The end of September - the beginning of October is the ideal time to relax in Cyprus. Cypriot national cuisine is a fairy tale, a song, we like it more than Turkish. The sea is absolutely wonderful in its beauty and purity. Greek Cypriots are very pleasant, nice, helpful people. But I can’t call Cyprus a budget one. Service level above Turkish. There are excursions to the Turkish part of the island, a red double-decker bus runs from Protaras, there are no problems with crossing the border now. Highly recommend a trip to Cyprus.

I liked Cyprus more in terms of service and food. Last year, there was also a choice of Cyprus or Turkey (before that they were in Turkey), the price was the same for the Turkish 5-ku and the Cypriot 4-ku. They chose the second and, as for me, they won.

I liked Cyprus, but it cannot compete with Turkey in terms of the availability of first-line hotels, with "its own" beaches. There are few hotels on the all-inclusive (if you are interested), and those that exist are much more expensive than Turkish ones of the same category. Well, and, of course, nature! Bald Cyprus, whatever one may say. The people are nice, but we like the Turks too. The food is excellent, here, perhaps, Turkey loses.
I was looking for hotels in Northern Cyprus, since we now have a flight to Larnaca simply at communist prices, there was an idea to go to Northern Cyprus instead of autumn Turkey. It turned out that, although it is occupied and unrecognized, the prices for hotels are not inferior to Turkish ones.
What else was very annoying in Cyprus was the rampant religiosity. Around some chapels, monasteries. They came to the restaurant - there is an iconostasis on the back wall, along with the bill they brought an icon of St. George as a gift ... In the hotel (the best in Limassol) - a working chapel.
But, if you have already been to Turkey, but not yet in Cyprus, then it is definitely worth a visit.

We rested 5 times in Turkey and went with my husband to Cyprus, were in Limassol.
I didn’t like it very much: 1.black beaches due to their volcanic origin, 2.withered palm trees on the main street of Limassol, the second largest city, and dried flowers in our hotel, 3.complete indifference of staff in stores to customers and 4.solid holidays in August, 5. excursions from 65 euros, and then it cost almost 100 dollars.
On the positive side, very tasty cuisine and wine "Commandaria".
In a word, already on the third day I began to remember Turkey with a kind word. The day before, I took 200 euros and went to the central department store, walked on all 4 floors. I wanted to buy something unnecessary, asked the sellers and made sure that no one needed my money.

All the beaches are different there. Black, like, only in Limassol.

Commandaria sweet fortified wine "for an amateur", red dry wines are very decent, available in standard bottles, as a sampler you can buy a bottle of 187 ml. conveniently. In terms of service in stores, I liked Cyprus much more than Turkey - no one imposes anything, does not try to constantly talk with customers, everything is civilized, correct, they advise only when the buyer needs it. Shopping in Turkey annoys me with the importunity of sellers, sometimes on the verge of tactlessness.

Lu-la-la, what did you like in terms of service in Cyprus?
Pachok, Galina50, can you elaborate on the black sand? Besides, in fact, the color, is there anything else different from the Mediterranean Turkish light sand?
аватар Pachok
It is small and clean, but gets very hot. And the view is gloomy if the sun hides :)

Actually, here:

In terms of service - very friendly staff, which is called "any whim", but without Turkish obsession and there is no feeling that you are constantly expected to tip.

Black in appearance, so in our hotel the entrance to the sea was from a pontoon, we walked along the coast, all the pontoons. We drove past the central beach, it is clearly visible from the bus, there is black sand and almost no people.
аватар Pachok
I do not see a connection between the color of the sand and the presence of a pontoon. In Four Seasons, the entrance to the sea is from the sand.
аватар Galina50
We got off the pontoon because we didn't want to walk on the black sand. Though maybe it's clean and useful. But in mind, as if polluted with soot. But I know that other resorts have clean sand.

Cyprus and Turkey are very different. There are beaches with white sand, and stones, and with black sand and clay. In September, there are much fewer tourists. The sea is clean and warm. The country is wonderful, but there is no nature

10 minutes ago I bought a ticket to Larnaca on September 27th. So after October 10, I hope to be an expert on both countries...
аватар Galina50
Very right, ollennka! But don't forget to share your experience.

We were in Cyprus in September 2017, in Ayia Napa. Before that, there was only Crimea. Guys, I fell in love with this island. You feel so at ease - goodwill, calmness, complete relaxation. It is foolish to write about black sand and draw a conclusion about the whole of Cyprus. No need to save. Yes, Cyprus is expensive. But I think that you should not choose the cheapest for the sake of a tick - "abroad". We were in Larnaca - compared to Ayia Napa - heaven and earth - a terrible beach with gray-green sand, but picturesque streets. But yes, it's cheaper. I am always surprised by the reviews - "fu, it's dirty there ... I won't go there again and I don't advise you." Before I go somewhere, I try to get as much as possible acquainted with the nuances of the country, with those points that I have in priority. In Ayana Napa, there is simply unrealistically beautiful Makronissos beach, with magnificent white sand and water that blows the roof off. Now we are thinking of going to Turkey, to Oludeniz, but after Cyprus we have doubts whether we will like it..
