See how far Cyprus is from Turkey on the world map. But the fact that Northern Cyprus is the territory of Turkey and when they will arrange sabotage is an open question. Everyone decides for himself where to move now. But, in my opinion, now Cyprus is an explosive territory.

Cyprus is not far from Turkey. In southern, non-Turkish Cyprus, everything is calm and beautiful in summer since July it is very hot. If you have any questions, write and I will answer. I have been vacationing there for many years.
аватар sigur62
In Cyprus it is good, in Cyprus it is sincere and calm.
Have a nice rest!

But what about the flight?
аватар sigur62
What about flight?
The flight is not long, in Turkey and Egypt the plane does not land ...
What problems?
аватар becukx2w
The flight is short 3.5 hours from St. Petersburg. We rested at the end of April - though the water was +18, in May it was much warmer but also more expensive. All liked it.

I have been to Turkey and Cyprus. It seems to me that this is about an equivalent vacation. But: in Cyprus, I did not see the beaches belonging to the hotel. By 11-12 o'clock on the beach there are a lot of people (in July), in general, the night life is in full swing - there are a lot of all sorts of pubs with football, etc. But not so much with sights: an interesting excursion to the northern part of Cyprus, and that’s all. Whether it is worth going there now is unknown. There are few vacationers, military men with machine guns and a conditional border. Abandoned bombed-out hotels, a wonderful beach and architectural sights.
The advantages of Cyprus are a simple visa, free, consistently good weather. Of course, it takes longer to fly (I flew to Larnaca), and nature is more modest.
аватар sigur62
There is something to see there.
There are many monasteries and ancient churches, and in Larnaca there is a very ancient church of St. Lazarus in general.
The famous Kykk Monastery, the very beautiful Troodos mountains...
By the way, how did you survive there in July? It’s very hot there at this time and even the Cypriots themselves leave for the mainland)))
аватар Galina50
I also rested there and there, and I didn’t like Cyprus terribly compared to Turkey.
And everything is much more expensive, and the people are lazy, do not pay attention to tourists in the shops, and the palm trees in Limassol are dried up and the beaches are black.
The only thing that remains in my memory is the excellent Greek cuisine and the portions are huge, so many take one serving for two.
аватар ninok54
I also like Turkey. We want to travel with a 6 year old. Tours don't interest me. So I ask where to rest
аватар sigur62
On the contrary, I like that no one there "pays attention to tourists in stores" (c)
There, no one will even turn their heads when a tourist enters the store, look, choose, and if you leave without shopping, no one will be offended.
There they don’t bother you, you don’t have to bargain or fend off annoying merchants.
Although ... to each his own ...
аватар Galina50
It's true. who likes what.
But when I asked our Russian girl about something in the store, she pretended not to hear.
We rested in August, we arrived at their central five-story department store. Limassol (the second most populated city after the capital), but it turned out that it was closed for two days, because. celebrated the Savior. Since I wanted to buy “something unnecessary” as a keepsake, but as it turned out, no one needed my 200 euros, so my memory of Cyprus is only a fridge magnet.
I think that such a careless attitude towards tourists is that Cyprus does not live from tourism, but from millions of offshore money.

I can not compare - I have not been to Turkey. I will not go to northern Cyprus to rest - only on an excursion. Southern Cyprus: in summer - very hot, beaches - yes - municipal, admission is free, in shops - European service, no one will grab your pants, they will not try to foist anything. Cypriot Greeks - very friendly and calm, rested in different hotels from *** to ***** - the staff never caused any complaints. To see the mountains, monasteries, mosaics in Paphos, to go on a tour of the donkey farm is a must, it's inexpensive to buy real olive oil there. I love Cyprus very much from December to March - it's just a miracle: plus 20-22, there are few people, mostly pensioners from Germany and Britain, peace and quiet - water, of course. not September, but on some days even children swim. Youth - go to Ayia Napa, adults - Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca. Palm trees, of course, are not as curly as on the mainland - everything burns out in summer, but I love Cyprus not for palm trees, but for the sincere friendliness of the Cypriots.

I liked Northern Cyprus more than southern: nature is better, there are much fewer people, prices are lower. Everything is very calm. Cyprus is very small, you can go once, but it seems you can go to Turkey endlessly.
аватар valja_m
I liked Rhodes, Greece much more than Cyprus. Everything is there - nature, and the sea (shallow) and clean, and architecture, and cuisine. Silence, beauty and tranquility. Only on part of the beaches - strong waves, if you go with a child - you need to find out the position of the hotel.
The beach of southern Cyprus did not make any impression at all - it is ordinary, somewhere the stones are not cleared, somewhere there are algae .. and the color of the water is not as blue and white as in Rhodes).
аватар valja_m
I answer the question - how did I survive in July))
No way! I began to remember the year before last, and remembered that I was in early September. And it was very hot)

According to my personal criteria, Cyprus loses a lot to Turkey.
First and foremost is the lack of private beaches near hotels. Even if the hotel is in the first line, everyone who is not lazy roams around it. The second is, in fact, a small number of hotels on the first line. Usually the hotel and the beach are separated by a road, or a boulevard, or something else. Small areas near hotels. Nature is bald compared to Turkish. Olla - in the afternoon with fire, but for someone it's a plus :) The kitchen is good, you can't find fault here. The rampant ostentatious religiosity is annoying - wherever you look - everywhere there are some churches, chapels, chapels and other cult stalls. They came to the restaurant - the whole wall was hung with icons, candles were burning (it was Easter eve). Scary, to be honest.
The prices are high. Some comrades take accommodation in apartments and cook for themselves, then they tell how cheap it was - I just can’t understand this, the food there is simply “golden”, they bring canned food and potatoes from home :)

And I liked Cyprus more than Turkey. It’s calm, safe, no one pesters, doesn’t impose, it’s clean, it’s generally cool with a child. I don’t need all-inclusive, I cook normally and I’m not too lazy. And they bought food at Lidl - the prices there are not very high, almost like in our stores. And you need to look at the beaches in Protaras, there are not stones, but clean sand. We were in a 3 * hotel, but the beach is good there, there are no waves, the bay, the sea is clean. And there are no Germans, like in Turkey, who smoke in the face of you and your child. And their religiosity is not ostentatious. They go to church in shorts, no one begs for money, there is no one there at all. There is something to see there, and more diverse than in Turkey. Nature is poorer because everything burns out. But near the hotels there are flowers and trees. And the fruits there are very tasty and there are more of them there. In Turkey, we were given only watermelons, medlar and apples with oranges and that's it. And there was nothing special to buy, although they went to the market. And in Cyprus we went to the town where the Cypriots themselves live, and there are cool things there.

I know who is scared at the sight of icons and candles.

I like Cyprus much more than Turkey. The service is several orders of magnitude higher, the cuisine is the same, lovely, pleasant Cypriots, there is no obsession, rudeness, as is the case in Turkey. Protaras and Ayia Napa have wonderful sandy beaches, many hotels on the first coastline, all municipal, but this is the peculiarity of Cyprus and not only it. If you do not want to pay for sun loungers and an umbrella, you can lie by the pool, in a number of hotels there are wonderful lawns with umbrellas and sun loungers for free, because. this is the hotel area. The presence of temples and chapels does not frighten me at all, I did not notice any hyper-religiousness in this. In the summer, in July and August, I do not advise you to go to Cyprus, in late spring and autumn it is wonderful there. I recommend a trip to the Troodos mountains.

Citizens, what is meant by service? In terms of speed of service, Cyprus loses to Turkey. The cleanliness of the rooms and the volume of services in hotels for the same price are the same. In shops with the answer "no, thank you" in both countries, no one further imposes a purchase, as in Egypt or Paris near the Eiffel Tower. What else does the concept of "service" include and why is it better in Cyprus?
аватар Pachok
Good service here and there. Jambs sometimes happen, too, and there, and there.
The volume of services for one price, I would say that in Turkey more.
But, I repeat, who needs what. In Cyprus, I could not choose the right hotel for a holiday with a child according to the criteria: the first line is NOT across the road, all, a large tennis area. In April, my husband and I had a great time together, but for a holiday with a child, Cyprus was simply crossed out.

ollennka, in Cyprus and Turkey were in 5 *, hotels of approximately the same price category. It was nice to use cosmetics of a higher level, it was nice when the head waiter meets and greets the restaurant in the morning and evening, and the waiters escort you to the table, help you sit down, the presence of silk napkins and high-quality dishes is also nice, it’s nice when they bring ice napkins at noon, a lot of little things that make the rest of the quality. Holidays in Turkey are reminiscent of a conveyor belt, especially during the season, even in good hotels.
Pachok, there is a good hotel in Protaras - the first line, the road behind the hotel and not close to the building, the beach is one of the best on the island, the territory, perhaps loses to Turkey in size and shade (the hotel is 3 years old), but otherwise a quality option. Suddenly it will come in handy, it is called Sunrise Pearl &SPA 5 *.
аватар ollennka
Mmmm ... Well, I don’t go to 5 * yet, so I’ll find a rich husband, then, perhaps))))

Thanks for the recommendation, sent2008.
Territory is important to me. At least 80-100 hectares in the shade of tall trees is a must. Turkey has dozens of such club hotels in the Kemer region. But there have been some nuances there for several years, because of which we chose Greece this year. Also not without complaints, but we decided, while the child is small, to stop at her.
Z.Y. As for cosmetics, I agree - there has never been Molton Brown in Turkey, as in Cyprus :)

There was a hotel not far from ours, which on different sites indicates 2 *, 3 *, and even without a category. It became interesting for us to see what it was like, we went in, talked with the reception manager, we were kindly offered to see one of the rooms - everything was very decent, for families with children, definitely not a suitable option, but the price-quality ratio is very good, in Turkey in 2 * such a clean, quite comfortable room, a small but clean pool, decent food, a clean beach, a high rating will be difficult to find.
ollennka, good husband to you! They say I have a light hand.))))
аватар sigur62
ollennka, while my husband is gone - and ride enough, have time!
And then after all, they are such husbands, they are different)))

I was also shocked by the Cypriot prices for fruits and vegetables in August!!!
Since my price indicator is figs, I start my holidays in southern countries with it.
And in Turkey, 2.5, (moreover, in one C grade in Konakli, it hung ripe in the village and only attracted my attention) In Spain, 1.80 at the local bazaar, in Montenegro, 2 euros, in Greece, about 2 euros.
So in Cyprus it was 9.90 euros!!! Why such prices in August? So I didn't have to eat Cypriot figs...
