To really immerse yourself in history and see the real Egypt, I advise an excursion to Cairo for 2-3 days, plus a trip to Luxor.
From Hurghada to the pyramids about 520 km. The hotel guide will always offer you a list of excursions to choose from

to the Pyramids from Hurghada it is better by plane, more expensive of course, but 500-530 km by bus (((and of course it must be combined with the National Museum in Cairo, you will be offered various options on the spot. Well, if you are going by bus, then see half of Egypt you can ... it all depends on the guide and the offers of the tour operator.

An excursion to the pyramids in Giza goes through Cairo with a visit to the national Cairo Museum. Lunch at a restaurant (it all depends on the tour operator), then the pyramids, the sphinx, the papyrus factory, the perfume and gold store. If you go to Cairo for 2 days, then the evening show is also included in Giza near the pyramids. And if you look at the time, then what is from Hurghada and what is from Sharm is almost the same distance (+, -100 km). Better by plane if finances allow.

I went to a two-day Cairo + Alexandria. It turned out not stressful and very interesting. huge contrast between the two cities. It is also very interesting to go to Luxor to the tombs, but two such long-distance excursions in one trip is quite difficult. so for one time, choose one thing on the spot. just don't skimp on choosing to travel through street agencies. it is better to overpay your tour operator, but be calm that everything will go fine.

If I were you, I would rather go to Luxor, we were very pleased with this excursion, very eventful, interesting: the Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut + a walk along the Nile, a lot of impressions.

To Cairo from Hurghada by bus, in my opinion, takes 4 hours.

From Hurghada, an excursion to Luxor is very convenient (about 250 km. It costs about $ 50 in street agencies. To Cairo for 1 day (with a visit to the pyramids) costs $ 60. If you order a block of two excursions, for example, in a couple of days, you can get a discount for another $5.Ordering through your guide at the hotel will cost $20-25 more each excursion. This is just their additional income.Ordering through a guide does not give any additional benefits, since sightseeing buses are formed by combining orders from many local travel agencies. Agencies usually do not have their own buses. However, you should not be afraid that there will be a bad bus or a guide. They always go to Cairo by a big bus, and a guide from Hurghada usually does not accompany the group, it is met in Cairo by one of the local guides, many of whom speak several languages. The system has been worked out for years and you should not worry in advance.
All groups go along the same route, in which there are places where they will be heavily processed for the purchase of products or souvenirs (perfume factory, granite workshop, etc.). Prices here are usually 2 times higher than can be purchased in other places, for example, from hands near tombs or pyramids. But there you have to be careful.

All of the above is true, but I will add the following:
1. it is better to go for 2 days. on a one-day trip to the pyramids, it takes about 1.5 - 2 hours - this is very little, the guides take the same time to buy papyri and aroma oils (the guide has his own percentage)
2. it is better to buy a tour on the street: the hotel guide takes your percentage from you and carries the money to the same street travel agent; do not be afraid that you will be taken away or forgotten somewhere, about 100 buses leave Hurghada, everyone gathers in one column outside the city and, under the protection of the convoy, moves to Cairo, everyone goes back in the same order in one long column, all side streets are blocked for the passage of the column .

It is quite possible to go to Cairo for 1 day. Yes, the bus is hard (but to Luxor, it seemed to me, even harder). In a day you will have time to visit the museum (it's something !!!) and see the Pyramids! By the way, most likely, the impressions from them will not be very good ... I checked it myself! All my childhood I dreamed of visiting the pyramids - a bummer! I'm not talking about the pyramids themselves, no ... I'm talking about the surrounding entourage! Dirty (everything in camel poop), very intrusive merchants - they don’t let you not only look around, but even pass! In short, you run between camels and merchants and look not at the Priamids, but at your feet and fight off the "gift for a pound." Luxor is the best! And I advise you to take a tour from a hotel guide - it's not worth the risk! This is not Turkey! Therefore, I got the main impressions of the pyramids from the airplane window - I was impressed!

The hotel will offer you a choice of different options for excursions to the pyramids and Luxor. It is better to fly to Cairo by plane, it is more comfortable. In general, choose for yourself what suits you on the spot. Compare different travel options.

We traveled by bus for about 6 hours. We left at 12 at night, by the morning we were in Cairo. Excursion for 1 day, a bit tiring, I would go for 2 days with Alexandria.

I really want to visit both Cairo and Giza (to see the pyramids), and everything else ... Just explain to me please - the process of flying to Egypt and living in Cairo for the duration of excursions who provides - a tour. Is it a company or do you need to search on your own? Sorry, I have never flown anywhere yet... Thanks in advance for your reply.
