can't say it's not hot at all
but quite portable (so to speak)
we were in the window of October - and then the heat was felt
BUT: not particularly annoying, because most of the time will be on the bus
and the buses are comfortable, equipped with Conder

It will be hot and if you do not plan to sit on a bus with a conder, but go on excursions, then you will have to endure the heat, especially in the valley of the dead, it is hot there in January.

I was at the end of May, hot, but quite bearable. I remember a German grandmother from a nearby excursion, she constantly repeated one word - KAPUT. But she is old, and, apparently, she has health problems, but she went anyway. I put on light trousers and a long-sleeved cotton tunic, it was fine. Go, you will not regret it, a wonderful, very interesting excursion.

you will definitely need hats and, if you are wearing open clothes, then some light cotton scarf on your shoulders, otherwise you will burn yourself in no time. And water is a must. I was at the end of March, for comparison: the temperature in Hurghada was +29, when we arrived in Luxor - +32, in the valley of the dead in the shade it seemed all 40. And in September it is still quite hot in Egypt. Take care of yourself and have a good rest)))

Were at the end of November. In the valley of the dead - kapets! In the Karnak temple, my son felt bad (because of the heat). I almost melted in the temple of Queen Hashepsut. The feelings came on the bus.

I completely agree with irishka82. I will add that due to the close proximity of the Nile, the temperature seems to be higher. There is high humidity. Now it is hot in Hurghada, but after August the air temperature gradually decreases and in October it becomes comfortable. And on excursions to Luxor, and indeed to the south of Egypt, I would recommend traveling from December to April.

I was on this tour in early October. This is a cap! What is the "basic time on the bus" ??? We thought we ourselves would now turn into mummies, and bypassing the period of decomposition, we would immediately wither. Buses come to the Karnak temple in the very sun, at 11-12 o'clock, Hatshepsut's temple also does not please with either shade or coolness.
In short, you should definitely go, but I would choose another season. In September, tune in immediately to 50 degrees.

I don't know how in September, we went to Luxor with an 11 year old child on August 10th. The temperature was somewhere around 42*. Super. The main thing immediately before leaving the bus is to smear with sun cream (with protection of at least 40) and have a hat. Take a lot of water from the hotel (the three of us drank about 4 liters). I also took a liter bottle with a sprayer (it is used when ironing clothes) and sprinkled it on my head and right on my clothes. You know, for the first time in my life, so many people envied me! In general, last year in Kyiv I endured the heat much harder, being in an apartment without air conditioning.

You are a smart girl!!!))) It didn’t even occur to me about the atomizer! I'm going to Turkey in September, it will still be quite hot - I will definitely use your experience!)))

I returned from Egypt 2 days ago. We went on a trip to Luxor. It's hot, but tolerable. Most importantly, take plenty of water with you.

Water, yes, is needed, but within reasonable limits, it heats up, it is better to bribe there, on the spot, cool, not so much money.

In general, about a trip to Luxor in the summer ... All people have different health, different build (heavier), different tolerance for high temperatures. Everything is very individual. I live in the north of Russia, but I can stand the heat normally. The conclusion is if not old and not sick, and not a small child, you can go, not fatal, quite bearable and very interesting.

Local drinking water "Baraka" - 1.5 liter bottle 1.5-2 Egyptian pounds.

Regarding the fact that the water is heated and it is better to buy it on the spot. When you get off the bus for 1.5-2 hours, for example, to see the Karnak temple, then take 1 liter of water. The water left in the bus does not heat up at all, it is quite cool there. On the way back, we even wrapped ourselves in a terry towel (which we took with us on the advice of other tourists).

Another option is a 1L thermos
