do not recommend! only with a tour!
Take WARM SHELLS (HOODED JACKET or warm blanket). WEAR VERY COMFORTABLE SHOES!!!!!!
. This is a very difficult climb!
Stock up on drinks and fruit from your ALL INCLUSIVE

It’s better with a tour, the Arabs will be safer and less pestering, and it’s not expensive, but there are still a lot of people walking there every day, but if you like extreme sports, you can try it alone, then tell me))
Take a jacket and wear sneakers))

I do not advise on my own, tk. spend the same amount of money, if not more, but it is more reliable with a tour operator, because a guide will be with you. The tour costs 35-40 dollars. We had a group of 10-12 people, everyone saw each other and looked so that someone would not fall behind and the guide counted us all the time.
It is advisable to take a warm jacket with a hood, it is very cold at the top, comfortable shoes - sneakers.

You have a bad idea what it is to climb the mountain of Moses.
I doubt that you can do it on your own. It is located in the Autonomous District of St. Catherine. At the entrance to the district there is a police checkpoint, which checks everyone's documents.
At the foot of the mountain - a Bedouin checkpoint with a frame, like at the airport, with inspection. Only after passing through this post can the group begin the ascent.
All previous answers are very correct. Especially when it comes to shoes and clothes.
The fact is that during the day at the foot of the mountain the temperature is about +30, and at night at the top - about +7 ... + 10 (November).
But when you go up the path all the time, you get hot. When you stop, you immediately feel cold. Therefore, a warm sweater that can be tied around the waist is ideal.
By the end of the ascent, a slight oxygen starvation may appear: you will quickly get tired and rest longer. This is where a warm sweater comes in...

Thanks everyone for the replies. I have a good idea of what it's like to climb a mountain. But I have read more than once stories that people independently got, climbed, descended and returned to Sharm. It's just that these stories are slightly lacking in specifics - is it possible to get to the village, which is located near the monastery of St. Catherine by bus, or better by taxi. And how then back to Sharm ..... You can catch a taxi there inexpensively, or better to this village and by bus .... Well, I don’t like to go in a crowd and depend on the guide and every tourist in the group.

if you have read stories about this more than once, you better contact the authors of these stories, I personally have not met people who independently organized their ascent to Mt. Moses. And then, with all your dislike for hiking in a group, you can’t do without it, because. 200-300 pilgrims and tourists ascend Mount Moses every day and, as a rule, follow one after another and also descend

climbing Mount MOSEYA at night is DANGEROUS!
a narrow path up for many hours, a meeting of the dawn and many hours of descent down.
Independently only in the sense of INDIVIDUALLY (without a group) it will turn out EXPENSIVE! TAXI IS EXPENSIVE! OTHERWISE YOU CAN'T GET THERE

Climbing is dangerous not because it's on your own. It is dangerous, firstly, because it is night (absolute darkness!), and secondly, because along the same path, up and down, a string of camels is constantly walking, which can inadvertently push. In our group (20 people) there was an Englishman who was pushed by a camel. He fell and sprained his ligaments. He was evacuated down. The tour turned into a misery.

everyone has already said - there are still a lot of people, the savings are doubtful, the complexity of the technical execution, not only when climbing and orienting on the ground, but also in terms of passing the cordons. and the stories of those who allegedly were ... hmmmm ... I suspect that you will not get specifics from them. about the danger - have you already forgotten the story of how an 18-year-old boy died half a year ago, who decided to lay an independent route?

And in general, 35 dollars is a small price for security, and if you want to do it yourself, then go to the Crimea and climb, let's say, Mount Demerdzhi or somewhere else))
There are no people at all, that's extreme))
My personal opinion)))

I was lucky to be there too, it's so great, a lot of emotions and everything in a positive way. Our guide was super, walked slowly and told us everything that interested us, there was not even a strain, although one man, oddly enough, was exhausted and fell behind. No one bothered anyone, if you want, talk or go silently .... even fatigue and legs that almost did not obey on the descent did not spoil the mood .... I only regret that I did not have time to tip the conductor ..... Yes and the tour cost us $50 for three. Thanks to everyone who was there.
