Help with choosing a resort in Egypt
Hi. We can't decide on a place to stay. Options: Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada. In Sharm, the presence of corals at sunset is embarrassing. Do they interfere with swimming and general movement along the bottom.

Of course, Sharm is better. don't be so embarrassed by the coral entry from the shore. In Sharm, in many hotels, entry is only from a pontoon (in some bays, pontoons are 15-30m, in some up to a kilometer).
corals will not interfere with your swimming.
in those hotels where entry into the sea is only from a pontoon, you will not be able to touch the corals (well, unless you dive in fins and everything will be very interesting).
I would recommend Sharm.

And try to consider the option - Marsa Alam - excellent corals, in Braika Bay there is a very good, comfortable entrance to the sea.

And I'm for Sharm - there are fabulous corals! And really 99 percent entry into the sea from a pontoon. Good choice and a pleasant stay.

thank you all very much. Entrance from the pontoon. When you gurgle the sea from it, is it immediately deep or can you reach the bottom?
аватар tata57
No, you can’t get to the bottom - immediately a great depth. And you don’t have to gurgle from the pontoon, but go down the stairs :)))

I was in Hurghada and Sharm, a total of 8 times.
I have never seen better corals than in Marsa Alam.
I am diving.

If you don’t swim well, you are afraid of the depth of both the sea and the inhabitants, then in Hurghada there is sand and a shallow entrance, there are few fish in the water. But I personally liked Hurghada less, the city itself is displaced hotels next to the houses. There are many locals, the infrastructure is not very well developed in terms of entertainment. Charm is definitely more touristy and pretty. There is a choice of cafes, there is where to take a walk. The sea in Sharm is amazing. etc

scorpio81-82, what is your main purpose of your trip to Egypt?
I will list the possible ones:
1. Underwater world.
2. Hangouts and discos, or as they are called, animations (I'm just not good at this ;) )
3. Trips to the remains of ancient civilizations.
Set priorities for yourself - it will be easier to choose a city, and then a hotel.
You still have to manage to move along the bottom, so corals are unlikely to interfere here.
Swimming is highly dependent on the location. In some places you can swim calmly, and in some places you have to swim 30 cm above the corals.

Charm is much better. Both times we rested in the center of Sharm (Naama Bay). It is very beautiful there, there is where to take a walk in the evening and, in addition, all beaches have a sandy sunset, special shoes are not required. In Hurghada, we also lived in the center. There is not even an embankment, dusty, gassed streets. But, on the other hand, from Hurghada, it is closer to go on excursions to the pyramids and to Luxor.

Sori, but it’s farther to go to the pyramids from Hurghada than from Sharm :)

I will also clarify about the sandy beaches in Sharm.
There are about 160 well-known hotels that are indicated on tourist maps in Sharm. Sandy beaches in 2 bays - Sharm El Maya (Old Town) and Naama Bay, there are about 40 hotels. A bit of math and we have a sandy beach at 25% of the hotels. We will not talk about the cost of these hotels and the quality, these are pure statistics.
And of course, some of the non-first-line hotels take their guests to sandy beaches.

tata57:
"Sorry, it's farther to go to the pyramids from Hurghada than from Sharm :)"
And Israel (Jerusalem), Mount Moses and Jordan (Petra) are closer :)

In terms of time to the pyramids from Sharm, sometimes it turns out the same, and sometimes for a long time - you can stand cool in a traffic jam at the tunnel. From Hurghada - no traffic jams.
In Hurghada, if you take hotels, it is better outside the city - there the beaches are more spacious and generally calmer.
аватар KATYSHKA
No, you can't reach the bottom. depth immediately 3-4 m.
well, maybe if scuba diving
аватар tata57
Yes, dear i sharm, from Khurdada to the pyramids further!
аватар tata57
Sorry, for the typo - of course you should read - from Hurghada.

I'm for Sharm!
corals do not interfere at the entrance, because the entrance to the sea is mainly from the pontoon
and there are many meters to the corals and they don’t bother anyone
аватар scorpio81-82
Wow, you made it here. Thank you all very much.
