Are you sure you want to go to Sharm? Or can Hurghada also be offered?

Only Dessole RRR, I have never seen such a party anywhere ....

yes, we want to go to Sharm. What about tropicana grand azure 5*?
аватар Krasotas
We were just in it. True, in 2008. Maybe that has already changed.
The hotel is very beautiful. Interesting. In general - can be recommended, but there is one thing. With good animation, there were absolutely no discos. Once or twice a week it was possible to go with the animators to the "Black House" (a disco in Sharm). We went. Not bad. But there were not enough discos in the hotel itself! For this reason, we will not be returning to it again ...

Very big minus
Thank you! What about the beach there?

Yes, disco is important for young people! I know for myself. From this point of view, I can’t recommend anything from Sharm hotels (we haven’t been to Sharm anymore). But here in Hurghada there are 2 options: Citadel Azur Resort 5 * (Sahl Hasheesh) and Dessole Pyramisa Beach Resort 5 * (Sahl Hasheesh).
I don't know why you chose Charm. When we went to Egypt for the first time (after the United Arab Emirates and Turkey), we decided that Sharm is better than Hurghada, which is closer to the Pyramids from there? That there hotels are newer. The city is cleaner. It's like that. In addition to the distance to the Pyramids. In general, we went to Grand Azur (I found the hotel on the Internet). Basically, we don't regret it. The hotel, of course, is a miracle (they would have more discos!). But on the next trip they wanted to visit Luxor. Therefore, we began to choose among the hotels in Hurghada. “Stumbled” on the Citadel, photos and reviews “hooked”. Hurghada itself left negative impressions. But the Citadel is a little further away. New "Luxury" area Sahl Hasheesh. This is a restricted area. There are no settlements of local residents. Only new hotels. In the current unstable political environment of Egypt - remoteness and closeness - this is a plus for security. Even from the "barrier" checkpoint to the hotel itself, another 2 km to go through the desert.

For tourists, it's easy (we're being transported), but for all sorts of bandits or strikers, it's an extra problem. And at the same time, the infrastructure of the hotel is so thought out that you can not leave its territory at all. Several restaurants, a wonderful cafe, billiards, a nightclub with a disco every evening until 2 am (good equipment, appropriate interior, lighting and even smoke are allowed, any drinks are free), plus live music on the veranda with a bar and also dancing (again every evening from 20:00 to 12:00). And once a week - a beach party (a disco with drinks and a barbecue on the beach with a large fire, lighting and equipment) - until 2 am. Everything in the hotel is free. With the exception of one fish restaurant (but there is a second fish restaurant - free of charge). That's where the youth company is just right! The cost of the hotel is cheaper than the Grand Azur (I then compared it for myself). Weak animation during the day, but we did not suffer from this. The main thing is evening festivities, and during the day they had fun with billiards, swam in the sea and pools.

A year later, they again chose where to go. I wanted to repeat the Citadel. But just in case, I “searched” the Internet to see if something even more interesting appeared. Not found. And since we were traveling for 19 days, it was important to know for sure that we would not die of boredom. Citadel coped "with a bang")))
Didn't get bored! We danced again at the discos and enjoyed the rest.
Here in July we want to go to Egypt again. The third time to go to one hotel is not so interesting. I found an alternative option: Dessole Pyramisa Beach Resort5 *. The architecture and rooms are simpler than in the Citadel (and even more so than in Grand Azur). But people really praise the animation. And now there are also beach parties (in addition to indoor discos). Everything is free. The price is even cheaper. The hotel keeps getting better. If you want to read reviews or see ratings, keep in mind that since October 2010 the hotel has changed management (the Turks bought it). And everything that was BEFORE this time is very different from the current state.
We also want to go with a youth company, so I looked through a lot of options and settled on this one for now. But if we hadn’t already been to the Citadel twice, we would go there.

Although, I did not study Sharm hotels this time. I was just scared of sharks)) If Charm is important to you, I think you can find something.
And now a comparison about the sea and beaches. In Grand Azur, the pontoon is 800 m (some complain about this). You can just go “by the sea”, and not along the pontoon, but it makes no sense. Very far will still be knee-deep. In the middle of the pontoon there is a ladder into the water (depth to the waist). You can go to the end, go down the stairs (again waist-deep), but a few more meters along the water and in front of you (more precisely, under you) there will be a coral reef. We never managed to enjoy it, because. it was constantly stormy. The fact that the pontoon is long is not a disadvantage, but a virtue. In Nabq Bay (Sharma district, where this hotel is located), there is such a sea that there is no way without a pontoon. And almost all hotels have pontoons, only they were half as long as ours. That is, people could not reach the beautiful reef. Once, with us at the end of our pontoon, lifeguards forbade a guy and a girl to swim. It turned out that this couple was not from our hotel. The guy is so upset! "That's a bummer!" - He speaks. So, a long pontoon is not a disadvantage, but an advantage of the hotel! But we still swam in the pools ...

In the Citadel, a rich and beautiful reef is located directly off the coast. There is no pontoon (which some again complain about). In one place (“Royal Lagoon”) there is a sandy entry into the sea. Convenient, but not much to look at (there is no reef). There are also 2 lagoons with sea water, and the bottom is lined with slabs. And stairs down. For those who want to swim in sea rather than chlorinated water, but are afraid of waves or are not good swimmers. The rest of the beach (and there it is about 1.5 km) - you need to walk along large stones of 3-5 meters in order to swim with a mask and snorkel along the coast. Very rich beautiful reef! Those who went on excursions said later that the hotel was better than where they were taken. In general, there are many options for entering the sea. And the pools are different and cool. By the way, when last year some beaches of Hurghada suffered from an oil spill, it did not reach the Citadel.
Oh, and Pyramis. There is generally a bay (if you look at the pictures from the satellite, you will understand). The entrance to the sea is sand. Many even without special Shoes are bypassed (which is not allowed in Grand Azur or the Citadel).

Due to the "fence off" from the open sea, almost always without strong waves. The water is clean. There are fish. There are few corals, but occasionally they are found. Or you need to move away from the main beach. The hotel is located, as it were, on a cape, so that on the opposite side, especially those who wish can walk to the open sea with the same rich reef as in the Citadel.
As far as I understand, in Hurghada itself the water is dirtier due to the large number of boats and the reef is worse than in Sahl Hasheesh. And in comparison with Sharm - no worse, but much closer to the coast.
Of course, everyone needs their own. But we, initially convinced that Sharm is “better” than Hurghada, found an even more beautiful place for ourselves - Sahl Hasheesh. Maybe our experience will be useful for you.
Just one more note: the weather. Please note that in Sharm the air is 2-4 degrees warmer than in Hurghada. In winter, it is probably better to go to Sharm (at least a little, but warmer). But in the summer it's the other way around.
And from the reviews of other tourists, I realized that, for example, beach discos are not held in the Citadel in winter (it is clear that it is cold), and live music from the veranda and shows are transferred indoors.
