There. Cheaper for sure.

Boil on the spot - it's cheaper in Egypt.
аватар dfad1ripe
The same, by the way, applies to beach slippers, and to "disposable" underwater film cameras, if your digital camera is not suitable for diving.
аватар Lenuskina
why would you? if you swim at once, then buy it in Egypt, and throw it away there. and if you need high-quality equipment for long-term use, then it is better to take it at home and with a guarantee.
аватар Dreamer_0x01
They cost about the same, maybe a little cheaper there, of course, but I recommend buying houses in a more relaxed atmosphere, without annoying pressure from sellers. In addition, if you need good fins for many trips, and not for one day, then it’s better to go shopping at home and try on, think, see .. Fins are such a thing that should fit well on the leg, otherwise you can buy the first ones that come across and then swim with joint pain.
I do not recommend buying disposable film soap dishes at all, as this is a complete disappointment. It's better to spend 1000 rubles and buy a soft cover for a digital camera.

If you are just planning to try a snork, then the Egyptian kit will do, but if the goal is to buy a quality product, then choose at home, of course there are also special shops, but is it worth spending time on vacation looking for good equipment and it’s not a fact that it will be cheaper, but the choice is probably less .

buy better there
and cheaper and extra cargo in one direction do not drag
unless of course you are a beginner
аватар nadin65
To begin with, buy there, and then if you like it and decide to visit the clear sea with living creatures, then you will slowly pick up houses. Although, depending on what city you live in, here on the periphery it is very problematic to buy in a store, and through the Internet it also turns out to be a pig in a poke =)

I bought my first mask in Egypt. At first it seemed normal, but when I measured it in a more relaxed atmosphere, it turned out to put a lot of pressure on my temples and it was impossible to swim for more than 30 minutes. Return / exchange, of course, has not gone anywhere to any shops, it’s more expensive for yourself.
Then I bought fins. I swam for a couple of days, then I just realized why I was so uncomfortable in them - terribly hard. It's just that all the fins that were given to measure in the shop were equally hard, and therefore did not pay attention. Then I bought another mask. It turned out that the valve is not very good. All this, of course, took place under the ardent tutelage of sellers, with exclamations of "buy-buy-buy", right there others are waiting at the exit from the shop - suddenly I won't buy, so as to drag us to themselves.
Not so long ago I gave all this to tourists who had nothing at all. Now I myself swim in fins bought in a dive shop in St. Petersburg - I ran around half the city before I want to find such a mask, which costs a penny (even cheaper than in Egypt) and at the same time fits perfectly on my face.
Since I can’t imagine a vacation at sea without diving into the underwater world, I vowed to buy any of the equipment in a hurry and in a hurry.
And I do not advise you. It's better to rent then...
аватар Dreamer_0x01
As for the extra load in one direction, do not drag - there is not so much cargo, but the fins take up volume. Putting them in advance, you know for sure that the place on them is reserved and that all your things will fit back (after all, part of the place will also be occupied with gifts and purchases). Having bought them there, you may at the same time have to buy either a second suitcase there, or take it back plus one thing in the form of a backpack with fins or a bag that will interfere all the time.
аватар nadin65
I don’t advise renting, rotovirus is guaranteed, and possibly more serious infections, treatment will cost more.
On the last day, we gave a mask and a snorkel to a vacationer to swim, and the herpes had to be treated for more than a week.

I first washed with soap, then wiped everything with alcohol before putting it on ..
аватар Viltis
Dreamer_0x01, where did you get the alcohol? Did you bring it with you just in case? How many tourists carry alcohol with them?
аватар Dreamer_0x01
Viltis
Well, I didn’t mean pure alcohol, my wife had some liquids in her arsenal - either lotions, or colognes - I don’t understand these bottles;) Which one smelled more of alcohol, I rubbed it :)
You don’t need much there, I moistened the cotton wool and wiped it off, then plenty of cold water so that it didn’t stink for the whole room.

I’ll tell you this: if you bought a mask at home, and already on vacation determined that it was too tight, you still wouldn’t return it. This time. The same with flippers. And with the second mask, it's not the product, but the fact that you bought the wrong thing. You don't know how to choose. And it turns out that it doesn't matter where you buy a mask of a smaller size ..
Secondly, I don’t know about you, we don’t have smart masks and flippers in Kyiv, the choice is scanty, the same with coral slippers. We foolishly bought slippers at Sportaster for 250 grams of steam and they are small :-( Our masks are expensive and not of high quality. Why? But because we don’t have specialized stores. We sell nonsense for crazy money. There is no sea, no diving.
Third: lotions do not disinfect, but soften and heal the skin :-) The fact that you smeared the mask with lotion - you could just urinate on it, it would be more useful, honestly.
nadin65
I do not want to upset you, but herpes is not curable, well, if only it is very difficult to cure. And it won't be cured in a week. If it's herpes.
аватар Dreamer_0x01
Viltis, well, we have all sorts of shops for divers, snorkelers, hunters, and the choice there is normal.
Of course, he couldn't choose. But in which case is it more likely to choose what you need - when you communicate with a consultant in your native language and the slightest nuances of the conversation are clear, or when you are in an Egyptian shop, the seller knows at most 50 understood words and at the same time he is still pushing the goods hard, standing above his soul.
In such a place, I completely lose the desire to continue to communicate with the seller and continue to choose something, but I want to buy something and finish this circus as soon as possible, which, in general, was.
Or maybe, of course, it was corny unlucky - but the fact is, everything that I bought at home - both masks, fins, and aquabox for a camera - everything is alive and has been used for 5 years without problems.
аватар Lina23S
Well, why are there no special shops in Kyiv, for example, the Ekstrem Style store on the street. Glubochitskaya, 53 there is a lot of everything for snorkeling and for diving and tourism .....
аватар Lina23S
A bunch of shops, Katran st. Zhilyanskaya 126/23, office. 206, Remadive St. Ivan Sergienko, 2/3, NPP "Katran" st. Ak. Kurchatov 23a, "Aqualung" Yuri Gagarin Ave., 2/35, PIDVODU st. Stadionnaya 21/1, in short, you will get tired of driving, but there is where to buy and choose from what too.))))
аватар Viltis
Lina23S, on Glubocheskaya 53, bread machines are perfectly repaired, and the store .. there really is equipment for diving, for VERY big money and of dubious quality.
Well, it's like buying mangoes and bananas in the north, and sleds in Africa.
аватар Viltis
Dreamer_0x01, Consultants in their native language often saw the sea in the picture. And they offer what is more expensive. This applies to absolutely all goods and services, from sour cream to tours. And it's okay to teach them that.
I am writing all this to the fact that a pro, a real one, knows what he wants and knows where it is and how to get it. And for all other users: beginners, intermediates and "great snorkeling professionals" the choice of masks, fins and other things in the places of their "natural growth" "More than adequate. Ordinary attention, not a hasty choice is enough to make a purchase.
And this applies not only to masks and flippers. Everyone knows that before a trip to Italy, buying a straw hat in Kyiv, even in the most sophisticated salon, is utter nonsense. With France and spirits the same nonsense. We will not talk about watches and Switzerland. And if you are going to a big beach, a professional beach :-) or to reefs with fish, then bring things bought in the northern metropolis there .. to put it mildly .. carelessly :-)
Well, this is just my opinion, based on numerous travels. I'm not imposing it on anyone, I'm just expressing it :-)
аватар Dreamer_0x01
Vilts, I understand your position and your words sound very reasonable - but in my case everything turned out exactly the opposite.
You write about a leisurely choice - but for example, I can’t stay in an Egyptian shop for a long time, this obsessive vparivanie really starts to infuriate, and the choice still turns out to be hasty.
In addition, I don’t go to Sharm and Hurghada where there are really good shops - I take everything with me to my beloved Marsa Alam, fortunately civilization is not so “developed” there yet;)
