We bought a ticket to Sharm from September 29th. What to do?
We bought a ticket to Sharm from September 29th, 2 adults and a child. We planned ahead. After the situation with the release of the film "The Innocence of Muslims" and the protests and the closure of the embassies of different countries in Egypt, what should be done? There are 10 days left before the trip.

Travel calmly and enjoy your holiday.

really want to go. we got together for a long time, planned a vacation, chose a hotel for a long time. chose Domina El Sultan Hotel & Resort 5*. thank you for your support and encouragement
аватар Tour_S
I agree with ENG56.
Sharm and Hurghada are resort cities, hotel owners are interested in the safety of tourists.
As a last resort - if there are concerns, just do not leave the city and that's it.
аватар galina.krasnosl
not to leave the city? Or don't go outside the hotel?
аватар Lina23S
You’re not going to a rally in Cairo, it’s the epicenter of unrest there, and people continue to relax in resorts, if everything were very critical, then the Foreign Ministry would already comment on this with a request to citizens not to travel to this country.
аватар Tour_S
galina.krasnosl, I mean do not leave the resort town of Sharma.
Well, if it's very scary - don't leave the hotel;)

I was in Hurghada during the unrest at the end of January 2011. It was quiet there. We did not go outside the hotel. The only thing that spoiled the rest was the knowledge that parents and children go crazy here, but there is no connection. Therefore, drive calmly, do not leave the hotel, or at least only in Soho. There you are safe and at peace. Warn everyone who is worried that you may run out of battery or disconnect for any other reason, but this does not mean that you are in danger, you are resting, but simply cannot contact your relatives.
I would advise (as well as the Foreign Ministry :-)) to refrain from trips to Cairo, Taba, Luxor, Alexandria.
The probability that nothing will happen is almost 100%, but constantly worry and twitch during the tour .. this is not a vacation :-) And even for your money :-)
Have a good, relaxing and enjoyable holiday!

thank. I also think that Sharm is far from the epicenter of unrest. I just love oriental markets so much and sitting all the time in a hotel and not going to the city is very sad for me.
аватар Viltis
She wrote "it was quiet there" - she meant the Citadel Hotel, it is half an hour from Hurghada. There was a demonstration in Hurghada itself and they tried to take the hotel by storm. You have a chic hotel, what to do in that city? :-)
Especially .. oriental markets and Egyptian .. two big differences :-)
Well, it's up to you, of course :-)
аватар Viltis
I'll tell you this: when it all started, we signed up for a shuttle bus to the city. From the hotel, free. So they called me back to the room from the reception and strongly advised me to visit the free fish restaurant at the hotel this evening and not go to Hurghada :-)
I mean, if anything, then the reception will warn .. unobtrusively. So everything will be great!
аватар galina.krasnosl
it just doesn't matter, the country is one. you never know what comes to the mind of the locals? take a hotel by storm or a bus ... I hope you're lucky. My husband has long wanted to go there to dive and see the fish ...
аватар Tour_S
In resort towns, local residents and authorities are interested - so that you can relax and come again)
So don't worry! :)
Think positive! ) And tune in for a great vacation! :)

Look at the fish, dive in. There the fish is good, we were nearby at the Sheraton.
You bought a ticket, well, where to go? Just do not go outside the hotel. Your hotel will not be stormed - it is far away. More city hotels are at risk. Yes, and you have a good five, there is security.
And in general, throw your thoughts on suitcases :-) You can already start worrying about packing :-)
аватар galina.krasnosl
Yes. fees are a pleasant chore. but my hands still reach for the keyboard - I monitor the political situation in Egypt all the time))) I even found the site Egypt today - I read the news all the time)))

Better look for a good mask with a pipe for your husband, otherwise you will exhaust yourself like that before you finish eating. The Egyptians already had the opportunity to try what it is like to live without tourism, when these resorts live on it. After that, they themselves worry that nothing would happen to tourists, as you understand, everyone wants to eat and they are no exception.

Was in Sharm in December 2011. The city is politically very calm. We walked around the city during the day, in the evening and even at night on the Old Market on foot. They are afraid to touch tourists because we are their bread. Don't be afraid, come there and see

We were in Hurghada in February 2012, we didn’t go on excursions, we walked around the city calmly. Don’t worry, everything will be okay! Have a good rest

everything is absolutely calm, but they do not recommend long-distance excursions. My husband and I went to the Sea Said restaurant in the Egyptian quarter, went shopping for the locals, were in a pastry shop, pharmacies, everything is far from the main streets, at every step the locals smoked a hookah, with everyone greeted and smiled, we answered: Russia? know, Ukraine and in response, okay.

tune in only to the positive. good luck! no one cuts the branch on which he sits!

I go to Egypt every year. and to Hurghada and Sharm. was there during all the troubles. alive, well and did not notice anything ... they did not sit in the hotel. Don't be fooled and take it easy!
аватар galina.krasnosl
thank. I see not a single negative review.) everyone is very optimistic) it is very pleasing. refrain from long trips.

RESORT CITIES ARE ALWAYS QUIET, THEY LIVE ON TOURISM. IT IS BETTER NOT TO GO ON EXCURSIONS, IF ONLY BY THE SEA.
аватар nicols
Everything is calm in Sharm - they just arrived. And from the areas it is always calm in Soho Il Mercato and Naama Bay. There and walk a taxi book at the reception and only sea excursions such as Tiran and Ras Muhamed.

Galina. krasnosl, So many people have already set you up positively, but, I, too, will insert my "5 kopecks" :))). For a whole year my husband and I dreamed about a trip to the Red Sea, planned, chose a hotel. I managed to choose and book from a variety of hotels the one in which the shark crippled people. Imagine my state before the trip))), almost like you are now. But, we didn't know what was coming next. And then, the notorious revolution began, we were just in Cairo on an excursion that day. The route of the trip was changed so that tourists would not see what was already happening on Tahrir Square, we learned about everything already on the bus on the way to the hotel, when relatives began to cut off their phones in excitement. I want to tell you that we ourselves would not have understood anything, being in Sharm, if it were not for TV. We walked around Soho Square, enjoyed the sea, the sun, the only thing is that we no longer went on excursions. As the saying goes, "God saves the safe." Tune in to the positive now, do pleasant chores, pack your bags (do not forget sunscreen). Believe me, when you find yourself there - in the atmosphere of relaxation, you will forget about all your worries at home. Just "turn on your brains", where to go and what to do, and everything will be OK!

in January-February, when it all started - we rested in Naama, went to the old city to the market on local minibuses, to Israel - everything is calm in the resort areas
аватар zjz9nbyl
now, of course, I don’t recommend going to Israel, but it seems to me that there is no need to “do not leave the hotel” either :) have a good rest!!!!

Ride and rest easy. Relax upon arrival!
Eat delicious MANGO and juicy figs should still be.
We have already rested three times during the period of unrest in Egypt, and we didn’t even notice anything there.
аватар EvdokiyaP
Just returned from Sharm, everything is calm, eat and relax with pleasure)))
аватар EvdokiyaP
I’ll also add that they walked calmly around the city, and in Naama Bay and in the old city and in the plow, everything is calm everywhere

I live (and work) not far from Sharm, 100 km away - in the town of Dahab, there is no hint of any unrest "somewhere in Egypt" here. I think that in Sharm, too, this does not affect in any way, at least for tourists.
