Will it be comfortable in the sea in Sharm for a not very good swimmer?
We are going to Egypt for the first time. I really want to look at the corals and fish, but I read about the entrance to the sea in Sharm el-Sheikh (from the pontoon), but I don’t swim very well. What will be the depth, is it possible to "feel" the bottom with your feet?

I myself am not a good swimmer, and I am afraid of the depth, and on the territory of our Reef oasis blue bay 5 * hotel there was a beautiful reef, but from the pontoon it was immediately very deep, about 10 meters. We got out of this situation in the following way - we rented a small life jacket on the beach and I felt very comfortable in the water. We had a rental on the beach from 10 am to 5 pm cost $ 10. But it is better if there is an opportunity to take such things with you, because. The rental price is certainly not quite adequate. And as far as I know, there are very few hotels with sandy beaches in Sharm and they are mostly artificial. I think you should immediately discuss issues related to the beach, depth, etc. when choosing a hotel. Because everywhere they are different.

The previous review is not entirely correct. Sharm has beautiful sandy, shallow and non-artificial beaches - this is the Nabq area. Believe me, this is from my own experience. By the way, hotels there are distinguished by excellent service for relatively little money, because. The area is a bit far from the center. And if you want to see fish and beautiful, almost not trampled coral, then take a minibus to the very end of Nabq to the public beach - this is a unique place. The floor of the beach is sand, on the other half - the same coral. True, the entrance to the beach is paid - $ 3 per person, but it's worth it.
Yes! and "feel" the bottom of the corals with your feet only in special shoes.
Have a nice holiday!

The previous review is not entirely correct either. Most of the hotels in the Nabq Bay area do not have a sandy entrance to the sea. There are generally very problematic beaches (shallow sea, very long pontoons). Read, for example, reviews of the TROPICANA GRAND AZUR 5 * hotel.
Also, the general rule is that the pontoon, as a rule, goes to the depth.
Sandy beaches in the Naama Bay area and the old town.

do not look for sand in Egypt - on the contrary, look for good corals, all non-swimming ones become just waterfowl in Egypt, the water holds perfectly, no effort is needed - lie down on the water in a mask and row your hands in the direction you need. In our family, three are bad swimmers, but in a mask they swam calmly over such depths! And I have good buoyancy, so I’m generally like a float, I could practically sit without moving in the water. If in Egypt the sand on the beach is a minus, because there are few living creatures in the water. Do not be afraid, the water will hold perfectly.

I agree with Marina530 100%. I don’t swim well myself, but in Egypt I felt like just a fish. The sea holds perfectly, which allows you to easily swim and relax just lying on the water and at the same time look at corals and fish. And go to Egypt and swim where the bottom is shallow and sandy .... Sorry! I don't think it makes sense!!! The Red Sea is beautiful and you will fall in love with it at first sight. Buy a mask. The main thing in this situation is not to be afraid, swim and enjoy. If you get tired - climb onto the pontoon, and then again into the sea - UNFORGETTABLE BEAUTY!!! Get lots of fun!!!

There are many hotels in Sharm with an entrance to the sea from the shore and with an entrance from a pontoon. So if you are worried, look for one with an entrance from the shore. House Beach is one of these hotels.

Sharm has a richer flora and fauna, but rather a problematic trip than Hurghada. If you are not confident in swimming, it is best to buy an inflatable vest at home, or for sleeves, the water is very salty, and therefore it holds quite well, but in many places there is a fairly strong current, and if you hit a scarecrow, you will feel more confident if you have a rescue tool.

"Most of the hotels in Nabq Bay do not have a sandy entrance to the sea."
if it's not sand or coral, then what??? and which specific hotels do not have a sandy entrance to the sea?

Nabq Bay has long pontoons, but an amazing underwater world. There were lifebuoys on the water near our pontoon. Those who did not know how to swim lay down on them (they are tied, they will not carry you away), put their faces into the water and go crazy. At a depth, it’s already breathtaking from the feeling that you are hovering over the abyss ... you can’t experience this buzz aground.

the salty sea is great, go on a boat trip, they will give you vests and masks, even if you can’t swim, you will see everything perfectly - both fish and corals

everything will depend on the weather, i.e. from rough seas. If the sea is calm, then you will be very comfortable in a mask with a snorkel, fins and, of course, a life jacket. No no.

There are good corals in Nabq Bay, and we didn’t have a pantone like that, but in the Red Sea all those that don’t swim at least break the sea, corals and fish immediately with floats that don’t climb out of the water;) if you’re still afraid, then choose the beaches that are in Naama Bay

DO NOT FEEL THE BOTTOM WITH YOUR FEET! YOU CAN CUT YOUR CORALS OR STEP ON A SEA SNAKE! AND IF YOU WANT TO ENJOY THE FISH WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT SURVIVAL, TAKE A LIFEJACKET - A GOOD THING!!!! (I'M SERIOUS!)
