question about the excursion to Mount Moses
I am traveling with my mother, who is already over 60 .. but a very active lady. Wants to go on a trip to Mount Moses. Let me know how difficult this tour is. Will the old man be able to endure it? And then I heard that there some hearts could not stand it (either pressure drops, or something ..) and they were dying .. somehow scary ..

The tour is quite difficult, it is impossible to give unambiguous recommendations. And the monastery of St. Catherine does not attract you?

It's like who. It's hard to recommend something, everyone has their own body. An employee of ours traveled and met an 82-year-old woman there. She was HERSELF for the fourth time on the mountain.

Here you need to look at the state of health of your mother. If everything is in order and nothing worries, then you do not need to be afraid)))

Thanks for answers. You calmed me down a bit..
health is different, but generally normal .. so we will try :-)

It feels like this is not a formal excursion for your family. Everything will be fine, God help you.

thanks elenako!
yes, how can I say .. we have been on different excursions .. Here it is just the cases with bad consequences that caused doubts (although they can be everywhere, of course).

in winter it seems to me that it will be a bit cold there, warm up. It is COLD up there

If a mother wants to go there for religious purposes, then no well-being will interfere with her :))) If it’s just like on an excursion, then it’s really hard, especially for an elderly person, especially if he doesn’t need to “cleanse himself from all sins.”
I know a large number of people whose review of this excursion can be combined with one heading "and why they got trampled, it's not clear ..."

The tour is really tough. The last quarter of the way - you literally climb on four. It would be nice to have a flashlight with you, comfortable sneakers, a warm top. Personally, it was hard for me to catch up with those who pulled ahead all the time.
In the most extreme case, you can take a camel - there are a great many of them. By the way, the descent from the mountain is no less difficult and long than the ascent. Good luck!

Those who have ridden a camel know that it is also not easy. The load on the back is very serious.

Difficult excursion I do not argue. But my mom and I did things differently. Keeping the pace set by the guides is not realistic - we slowed down the whole group and she was not happy. So we agreed with Ali Baba and went slowly, together and wet at random (not along the serpentine and immediately up, where it was possible).
We came to the top, drank some tea and slowly climbed to the very peak - after 15-20 minutes the sunrise began.
They also went down not with everyone, but on their own, found with a guide and a group near the monastery of St. Catherine (I have sore legs and the guides forbade going down the stones - but I did go down, I got a lot of pleasure. I started to swim one of the first, came one of the latter - but they managed to do it everywhere.
So - the main thing is to warn the guide and not to climb on camels. Slowly you will have time to go everywhere.

I will add my fresh impressions from the ascent. Maybe someone will need it.
You need to plan a tour. Warm clothes should be The higher you climb, the colder the wind blows. You freeze to the bone! Can be taken for $4. Bedouin blanket + warm tea, coffee, hibiscus :-) for the same 4 dollars.
In addition, physical and mental preparation is also important. You need to tune in to go up, and then go down again (7 km there, 7 back). It is possible on camels, but the last steps (near the very top you will have to overcome it yourself)
Of course, the dawn is awesome + the terminal (day / night) is also clearly visible - we were at the end of February.
The panorama of the mountains is impressive, I can not believe that you have overcome all this. Recommend!
P.S.
one). We saw very old grandparents - 80-90 each! After this, I’m just ashamed of myself :-) to say that it was hard
2). An excursion to the monastery of St. Catherine after Mount Moses is just a conveyor belt.
Tourists have no strength, and within 10 minutes they quickly ran without delving into it. Our guide said that if you go separately to the monastery, you get to the service, you get much more impressions + a full-fledged excursion, and you didn’t touch the thorn bush and walked narrowly through the monastery.
