Is it worth taking half board in hotels? Or is it better to eat out of hotels?
What are the average food prices in Spain? Interested in cafes, restaurants, and prices in supermarkets (are they comparable to Kiev?).
I understand that all this is very approximate. But if, according to reviews in Greece, you can dine for 30 euros for two, then it was about the same.

To take half board is to tie yourself to hotel food, eat on a schedule and in one place. In my opinion, this is unreasonable, in Europe, including Spain, there are many places where you can eat tasty, varied and at any time. Therefore, it is enough to pay for breakfast in order to have breakfast early in the morning, and be free all day.

I don't quite agree. In Gran Canaria we took half board, it was exactly what we needed. Breakfast from 7:00 to 10:30, it was very convenient when you wanted to sleep longer.
Dinner in 2 sets: from 6:00 to 8:00, and the second set from 8:00 to 9:30 in the evening. The dishes changed on the second run. It suited us just fine too. Sometimes, having wound around the island, I didn’t want to go anywhere to look for dinner. If they returned late, but not because of darkness, but it gets dark there early, then they got to a late dinner. And then, there is such a variety of dishes in the hotel restaurant ...
In Spain, even ALL is not as expensive as, for example, in Madeira and Portugal in general, so Spain usually offers ALL often, at worst HP.
This is from my experience, but it's up to you. It all depends on which hotel will be chosen and what you are going to do on vacation: an active holiday or a beach one.

Thanks for answers. We have a very active holiday. 5 cities in 14 days.
And yet, at prices ... does anyone have approximate information? It is necessary to calculate the costs.

We were on the Costa Dorada, you can have a hearty and tasty lunch for 15 euros per person plus a carafe of sangria for 10 euros, prices are about the same everywhere.

when traveling in Spain we rent apartments and usually we have the following schedule: breakfast in a cafe on 8-10 ev, lunch at home (cooking), dinner in a restaurant on 15 ev, 25 with wine. Eat cheap, alcohol is expensive in a cafe

We also dine in a cafe, sometimes with inexpensive young table wine, and you can have a drink to relax in the cool evening on the balcony.

In the mercadone (department store) there is a lot of wine and cheap, and cheap products, chilled sea bream fish !! -3 euro/kg, oranges -1 euro per 5 kg, Pepsi 1.5l -0.29 euro, and on the beach -1-2 euro. Having a refrigerator, you can always buy, cool (freeze) and take with you to the beach. Saving on trifles, we have money for good things, than we surprise our friends (we both rested and bought), and after paying for "all inclusive" they only rested. I gave up the services of travel agencies a long time ago, I myself can order a ticket on the Internet, and get a visa, and rent an apartment, and then I don’t write bad reviews about hotels and feeding, because. everything is in my hands, and while I pay in cash, they serve me for 5+, and when I make "abstract" payments, they serve me.....

Great conclusion, thank you)))
I will add that by giving up the "all inclusive", you do not need to beer from the bartender in your dirty crumpled plastic cup. But it's "fixed"...

Travel agencies conclude contracts for rooms that are "illiquid" from the point of view of Europeans, windows facing the courtyard, without a terrace, basement, etc., and then they pretend that this hotel gave you a bad room, but they have nothing to do with it. Then our tourists run after the hotel worker "there is a good room available, move us there", and the hotel workers pretend that they do not understand, and the whole secret is that this room has a different price, higher than the Russian tourist paid

Thanks for the new replies!
We are driving on our own. You can simply book a room with or without meals. That's what I tried to measure.
Most likely I’ll take it with breakfast, so that in the morning I don’t think about where to eat, but immediately go for a walk, well, then according to the situation)
Thanks again for sharing your experience!

The most correct decision! Breakfast is usually early, from 7 o'clock, it is convenient to eat right away and - the whole day is at your disposal.
Have a nice rest!

having booked a hotel room with half board, you will simply be “crushed” by a toad to be late for a free dinner, so you become dependent on the “feeding” schedule, which as a result suffers from the whole vacation. We were always late for breakfast. The food in the hotel restaurant is not the kind of food that you would like to eat on vacation in Spain, there are no seafood, fruits with greens (to lie down), etc. While in your own apartment you can recreate the atmosphere of home comfort by cooking something in a nice kitchenette , whatever your heart and stomach desire or go to a cafe.
