I can say that of the three locations (Calella, Sant Pol de Mar, Pineda de Mar) I recommend Calella. Pineda is boring, Sant Pol is very nice, but located on a hillside and you have to go uphill from the beach, and hotel rooms are more expensive. Throughout the Costa Maresme, the transport interchange is very convenient (railway at the bottom of the towns, buses at the top).
I chose Kallea based on reviews and was not disappointed. The town stretches along the beach, you won't get lost in it. Lots of hotels and good shopping. There is an old church, a square, a market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Good supermarkets.

From Calella I walked along the promenade to Sant Pol de Mar and Pinedo de Mar. On the way to Sant Pol de Mar is very beautiful and coves where you can swim.
