People, tell me, where is the best place to go in May-early June, Crete or Cyprus?
We are going on vacation in May-early June. We have not been to that side, so it is very difficult to decide. Tell me, pliz, where the nature is better and more beautiful in Cyprus (where exactly) or in Crete (which resort in which part of it) or elsewhere in Greece. I would like a beautiful sea, clean air, mountains and the opportunity to walk somewhere along the embankment in the evening, for example. sitting in a hotel around the clock annoying :) And of course I want advice on the hotel. Thanks to everyone who responds so much!!!!! :) And yes, we will fly from Kyiv.

Hello, I was in Cyprus in Larnaca last year. I can describe my feelings to you. Cyprus is a country with a very similar culture to Greece. As for me, Cyprus is a great place to relax with small children. Very warm shallow sea. In terms of attractions, Cyprus is clearly not as rich as any part of Greece. I am sure that Crete is more interesting in this regard. We went to the mountains and other cities of Cyprus. Sometimes picturesque, but there is not much to see. I will say the same with regret about the capital Nicosia. We also went on an excursion to the Turkish part of Nicosia. In fact, this is a large and dirty Turkish market. Cyprus also has delicious cuisine, but eyewitnesses say that all dishes are borrowed from Greek cuisine. Probably, it is, because there are a lot of Greek taverns and they cook the same things there as local restaurants of national cuisine. If I were you, I would choose Crete, not Cyprus. A year ago, we doubted what to choose, but now the choice is obvious to me.

Cyprus and Crete are islands. Culture, cuisine, local customs are absolutely identical, Greek with a Turkish touch.
There is something to see in Cyprus, apparently, YaroslavaS went somewhere in the wrong place. Cyprus has beautiful ancient monasteries, wonderful Troodos mountains with wonderful healing air. Larnaca is really a small old town, but Limassol is a more developed resort, Paphos is a respectable and prim city with a measured life and a large number of elderly Englishmen, Ayia Napa is a cheerful youth resort.
Other things being equal, Cyprus should be cheaper than Crete, in addition, Cyprus does not need a Schengen visa.
You choose. Have a nice rest!

We were in monasteries, we were in Troodos, we went to Ayia Napa, we were also in Limassol, we visited Nicosia, and, unfortunately, in my opinion, there is nothing to see. And at the expense of a visa, it's true, a visa is easy and costs easy money - as much as 11 euros))

Dear likycja,
Both Crete and Cyprus have much in common and even a common sea. But each has its own nature and sights. I was interested in both Crete and Cyprus. If you do not want problems with the Schengen - relax in Cyprus (with your wishes, I think Paphos is suitable for you). But if you are not embarrassed by Schengen, then I advise Malia.
Holidays in Crete are 10-15 percent more expensive, but the service is a little higher, more European.
For hotels, read the reviews on Turpravda and draw your own conclusions. Everyone has their own financial ability and recommending a hotel is a thankless task.

Cyprus is smaller, and the main points of interest are located quite compactly. If you want to see more, then in Cyprus you can go around everything. There are more distances in Crete, but there are also interesting places, delicious food, mountains and the sea. In the eastern part of Crete - Agios Nikolaos is suitable (for example, the St. Nicolas Bay hotel). Not far from Elounda, the Lasithian plateau, Ierapetra. On the western side, you can stop in Rethymno (Aquila hotels) or Chania (Minoa palace) From there, not far from the Samaria Gorge, Lake Kournas, Balos Bay.

And we were in Rhodes last year in early June. At this time, there is still no sweltering heat. The sea was +25 +26. Very comfortable. We rented a car for three days and drove around the entire island (75 km long, 30 km wide). We love this wonderful island!
