If you choose a normal hotel in the North, there will be no problems with sanitation, but active recreation involves going outside the hotel - and it can already be dirty there. For example, in Pattaya I went to the market without any problems, but in Goa I could no longer overpower myself :)))

Noisy crowded Colombo, by the way, there is an excellent zoo. Where they show a small show with elephants, not as bright and colorful as, for example, in Thailand, but still. What should be taken into account , in Sri Lanka, on most of the most beautiful huge beaches, there are waves. In some places it is difficult to enter the water. But these beaches are mostly wild, there are no hotels. If you plan trips around the country, then be patient and time as the traffic is very heavy , the roads are narrow, the speed of movement is not high, and in the capital there are huge traffic jams reminiscent of Moscow.

We lived in Sri Lanka for more than a month, even in this case, it seemed that there was little time. As it was written in the previous review, we traveled almost the entire island except for the North, but I would not recommend it either. These are Tamil territories and are still not calm. Maybe, of course, nothing, we did not take risks because we were with a three-year-old daughter. As for the animal world, it is amazing, we lived in a private house. Far from the cities in the very south in a village on the ocean, every evening flocks of large green parrots, a huge number of chipmunks flew in, a peacock flew into the yard, monitor lizards crawled along the road, lizards of all colors and sizes. There were not very pleasant meetings with a snake, but we looked on top of each other and in different directions, and for the first time I saw cockroaches so big .... I don’t know what kind, but they are very reminiscent of Madagascar and very noisy frogs, just guards. They thought they were big, it turned out that kids smaller than a nail can create unbearable noise. In general, this is a real exotic for us, which I personally really liked.
