We think about the ocean - is there warm water without waves?
The next year, my husband ordered the ocean. I looked at the nearest southern European one. It turns out-Portugal or Spain. But they write that the water is often cold and almost everywhere there are big winds and waves - beaches for surfers are more than for beach cats)))
Recommend the season, region, resort for a moderately beachy, not noisy holiday. Thank you!

On the ocean, like, waves everywhere? Shallow, long low tide, knee-deep water, and the waves - head over heels, muddy. I was wrong?
аватар hatinka
I don't know yet. People go to Portugal to enjoy the beach ...

"The next year, my husband ordered the ocean"
Oh oh! It's so stretchy! What else does your husband want? We are not familiar with your husband, therefore, it is not clear what else he needs (what interests and requirements)?

From advertising:
"The most luxurious beaches are located in the south of Portugal - in the province of Algarve (Algarve). This is the southernmost province of Portugal, washed by the waters of the Atlantic, with a coastline of more than 200 km. Thanks to the Atlantic in the Algarve, the air temperature even in August does not exceed 30 degrees, and you can relax all year round.Gentle sun, soft golden sand, warm, crystal-clear sea, all this is your vacation, on the beaches stretching between picturesque coastal cliffs on a magnificent coastline that goes beyond the horizon."

In fact, the rest is specific.

there is a description of the beach and water in July
аватар hatinka
Hotline, thanks, I'll read it. Yes, Algarve already heard.
As I understand it, there are no charters to the southern part of Portugal or Spain from Ukraine, only regular season.
jabetta, very strange answer. You should not think about what other people's husbands demand, IMHO. Focus on Portugal
Thank you!

Wizz Air comes to Spain! And from there - both Palma and Gran Canaria on Ryan Air.
аватар jabetta
hatinka, I in no way wanted to offend anyone and I'm not going to think about other people's husbands. Actually, I jokingly wanted to know what other requirements are for the planned vacation, it’s not clear what hurt you so much.

to hatina. Trust me, jabetta's question is quite on point. When choosing a tour, we have SUCH conversations with tourists, almost like a psychoanalyst.
If a person does not have his own option, then in order to choose the right tour, you have to find out his criteria. And everyone has their own and often specific.
One recent example. The girl asks - I need such a tour so that during the rest my boyfriend proposes to me.
On this topic. Portugal is not very popular as a beach holiday destination. Strong specificity. Therefore, there are no charter programs.
Once again - read carefully, in the review it is clear.
And why exactly the European ocean? The Indian Ocean, for example, will be competitive in price.
аватар jabetta
That's it, I wanted to find out some points and remind you that there is more than one ocean in the world and there are a lot of options.
аватар HotLine
And further. What is an ocean? For example, I went swimming in South Vietnam in December. At the same time, I think that I was swimming in the ocean. Although this is the South China Sea.
аватар Pachok
The South China Sea is the South China Sea
People in Jurmala don't say who they swim in the Atlantic Ocean :)
аватар Oleksii64
Dear hatinka, why the question of charters, you don’t fly by planes?
аватар hatinka
jabetta, well, excuse me, sometimes I'm sharp ;-)
But it didn't hurt me. It's just that sometimes the topic goes somewhere in the jungle, completely unrelated to the question. It's already gone to Vietnam and Jurmala)))))))))))))
My husband is interested in the ocean, I am Portugal, Spain. The "other" oceans are not very interesting yet.
The question is exclusively in part of the Portuguese-Spanish part of the ocean. And by no means Asia!
Oleksii64, I'm terrified of flying, but very rarely I have to - flew on Thursday from Montenegro - and cried and cursed. Nightmare, basically.
But survived
Very courageous, because)))
HotLine, yes, I noticed that reports about Portugal very casually affect beach holidays, but people swim ... My husband is almost a walrus, I don’t really like the sea, but for 5 days, I probably would like to splash ...
Got it from the air, thanks.
And if you fly with Visa to Barca, and from there by car along the shortest path to the ocean, but only Spanish or French (where the border is)?
Or is it north for the beach...
аватар jabetta
Apologies accepted ;)), although, to be honest, I was not offended, but surprised.
Now, at least some concept and requirements have become clear.
Now, by the way, I am also digging all sorts of directions for "sea" recreation, in case of the "closure" of Egypt, which is why this topic is interesting.

to hatinka, You have been on the site for a long time, you should have gotten used to the fact that in interesting questions the answers always "shake".
to Pachok. There is a big difference between the South China Sea and the Baltic Sea. Baltic - inland, And Jurmala in general in the Gulf of Riga inland sea. Many "sea wolves" do not even consider this bay a sea.
And the South China - the so-called semi-enclosed sea. Therefore, Vietnam is officially included in the list of states of the Pacific coast.

to hatinka: Have you already settled on Portugal? I talked with a friend who is an ardent lover of such a holiday, which you write about, so she says that she was in Portugal once and no longer pulls, but she has already been to the Canary Islands three times and will go again. Have you considered the Canary Islands?
аватар Pachok
And I, prompted by Hatinka's question, also almost sharpened my skis to Potugalia. UIA has a direct flight to Funchal, Madeira. In this connection, I shoveled a bunch of forums on Madeira, and at the same time on the Canary Islands. The voices of tourists are divided, but the main thing that I took out: Madeira is green, spring all year round, not trampled by Russians, there are no beaches for swimming (or rather, there is one), the Canary Islands are crowded, "Russian", nature is poor, mountains are bald. There are more places for swimming than in Madeira.
аватар hatinka
jabetta, I would like something like Spain + Portugal. I created a topic in the forum, there I briefly figured out the options. As long as it's quiet ;-)
It looks like I have to build from Vizeira to Barça.
I discard the Canary Islands right away, since my friends flew for three weeks and the most detailed photo report did not impress me much - it is rather monotonous and, in fact, mostly a beach holiday. I will last 4 days on the beach, and then I want to travel.
The main thing here is to combine the ocean, as the desire to see it, to be on it and, ideally, to swim with the country of Portugal, which is interesting to me in terms of architecture. But not every tourist arrives in Portugal, usually after all other European countries, the turn comes to her. I want to go there right now. And some beaches are a nice addition to an active holiday.
Madeira, although Portugal, is small for me. I want to surf the roads of mainland Portugal.

My friends recently went to Portugal, moreover, they rented a car and drove there well. Here, I’ll come back from vacation (in two hours a taxi to Boryspil) and ask them in detail on this topic.
аватар hatinka
Here is a topic where I more or less clearly articulated my thoughts in the direction of the ocean

If you have something to say, you are welcome)))
Pachok, if you get to Portugal, do not forget to unsubscribe about your impressions! And I would also like to know about obtaining a visa (you will not go in Polish?). Although, we will most likely have Spain.

We fly to Portugal every year for a week. From June to September we were in different years at different times - the ocean is always on the south coast and everywhere is cold, I generally keep quiet about the north. It happens that the temperature changes every day, then +19, then +23, we did not observe more. Yes, the waves are big, of course, but it all depends on the coast.

here I have a couple of photos of the beaches.
If the entry into the sea is gentle, well, for example, 20-30 m and everything is knee-deep, here the water is much warmer and the waves are not high. And there are beaches, for example, in Quarteira, where after 5 meters from the shore you don’t feel the bottom anymore, the water there was always cold and even with not very big waves it’s difficult to get out of the water, constantly drifting into the sea. In the same Quarteira there are gentle beaches, as in Vilamoura, Algarve, Lagos, etc.
The beaches are quite suitable for everyone, there are many children, but no one interferes with anyone, there are a lot of places, well, just endless beaches ... They are constantly ennobled, year by year they become more comfortable and better.
аватар Pachok
Hatinka, I hope I get it! And I will definitely write.
No, we want to open the correct visa :)

Was in September. The water is really cool, 18-19 degrees. However, by some strange quirk, it is not cold in it. My wife is frozen and cautiously climbed even into the Red Sea. In our 20-degree lakes, it can’t be driven at all, but here she swam and didn’t buzz.

Were in August from 20 to 28. Very satisfied. I was also interested in this question before the trip. I answer. In the Algarve region (Portugal), the water is warm and without waves. They write that water does not exceed 22 degrees. I don’t know where the water is measured, but in the bathing area the water is very warm, it feels like 24 degrees. There are a lot of kids there. It is especially cool when the tides are low in the morning and the coastline is about 30 meters. The sea surface stretches with a transparent coast of 10 meters, and the children enjoy it. The water is clear, maybe we are so lucky. High tide in the afternoon, the beach is shorter, but there is plenty of space. We were in Lagos. Very beautiful beaches. We went to neighboring towns, but the best views are still in Lagos. We rented a car and drove 50 km southwest of Lagos and saw the wild ocean where surfers swim. The water is already 18-19 degrees and waves. We arrived at the Odysseus. It is very beautiful there, jumping on the waves is very cool, but the water, I repeat, is cold, even in the bay without waves. There are many beaches, there is enough space for everyone. Recommend.
