Should you go to Thailand?
What is interesting and unusual in this country, if according to reviews, the food is bad and the rooms are not very good, the sea is bad. After the wonderful hotels in Turkey, where everything is ultra all inclusive, where crazy discos are every day on the territory of the hotel, what to do in Pattaya? I doubt whether I will like Botany Beach?

very strange question)))) "after the beautiful hotels in Turkey." . . You want to limit your vacation to these wonderful hotels, or to see different countries, exotic and not so (besides, Thailand is one of the most exotic). This is a beautiful, fabulous country where everyone smiles. Crazy discos, believe me, there are much more than in Turkey, and the fact that they are not on the territory of the hotel is more of a plus than a minus (there is no night noise, and you can have a good rest in the hotel). There is wonderful nature - amazingly beautiful parks, interesting fascinating excursions (flight of a gibbon in the jungle, nong nooch park with an elephant show, a crocodile, snake farm), the sea is also quite accessible (in the morning to the island, perfect sand, clear water). There are a lot of restaurants in the city where seafood is prepared sooo cheaply and incredibly tasty (shrimp the size of a lobster)))), and a staggering amount of tropical fruits - most of which you have not only not tried, but have never even seen)))). And for everything - more than affordable prices. . . I personally liked this hotel very much: cozy, beautiful, quiet, clean, geckos on the columns - in my opinion it’s just lovely, you immediately feel that you are in the jungle))) and just a SEA of orchids around)))

do not tune in to negativity, rest should not become habitual, otherwise it will become just boring, discover new countries and new experiences, it's so wonderful when you have something to compare with)))) of course, to each his own: I personally thought that Turkey is all- it’s still too non-exotic, even rustic, although the food was delicious))))) and I just fell in love with Thailand - maybe it will impress you too)))) have a good rest))))))

I completely agree, exhaustive arguments, for me, after Thailand, Turkey simply does not exist. And how many people I met, everyone has a similar opinion. Thailand even after one time - like a disease. Who said the sea is bad? And there is more than one sea - on the one side of Thailand, the Pacific Ocean basin - the South China Sea, the Gulf of Thailand, on the other side - the Indian Ocean, the Andaman Sea - the same Maldives on the Similans. And if in Pattaya the sea on the coast is dirty - it’s not dirty, but muddy, but that’s what Pattaya is for, it’s not an island, but a city on the mainland, where the sea was clean in the cities ??? And in general, Thailand is not limited to Pattaya alone - there are a huge number of places for recreation, islands for every taste, there are many mainland resorts, they are just not as popular as Pattaya, and Pattaya is the center of parties and sex entertainment. Although besides this there are interesting excursions, etc., it is not for nothing that not only thrill-seekers, grandfathers and adventure seekers go there, but quite normal people with children.
Who is fixated on Turkey alone - I don’t understand them at all, the rest itself is normal there, but you can’t go only to Turkey

I really liked Thailand - it's really like a disease, it pulls again and again! Wonderful country! Turkey seems primitive after Thailand ... from the seaside resorts I was in Turkey (Kemer and Alanya), Egypt (Sharm), Thailand (Pattaya, Centara 5 *), Spain (Costa Dorada Salou) ... most of all it draws to Thailand ...I think one of the most interesting countries for a holiday...

Many thanks to everyone for the replies! I agree that you need to see the world! But I was already in Egypt 2 times, in the Czech Republic, it's all interesting, but I just adore Turkey! I've been there 5 times and I always want more! There you don’t think where to eat and what to eat, and where to lie on the beach, everything is nearby, there are plenty of free places. The sea is like fresh milk, toes are visible, warm, there are safe discos on the territory of the hotel. It's just that I was only in good hotels, Turkey 5 *, everything, and Egypt 4 *. There are no strangers. Please write how safe it is outside the hotel in Pattaya. And it's also embarrassing that this hotel is 3 *. And an approximate schedule. One or the other is just an example. Thank you in advance!

Botany 3*- was much better than Egypt's Hilton 4+. the sea is very warm, and, by the way, Botani is located at the end of Jomtien - therefore the water there is not dirty, and in the morning it is transparent (then boats, ferries, etc. begin to scurry - and turbidity rises) in the city, although they scared us that they were stealing - we did not meet , safe (we ended up in some kind of dark alley at night, we hardly found someone alive, so they saw us off and smiled all the way). if you don’t wave your wallet (this is not welcome anywhere), nothing will happen to you. we got up early, had a quick breakfast - then we went to the beach until 11 o'clock (if there were no excursions) we had a wonderful snack on the beach with fruit, and after dinner we went to the city - and there we walked and ate all sorts of things - if you like something - take it with you to the hotel ( the fridge is small but decent) and stays up late. Tried durian - very cool. tuk-tuks go all the time, if you don't want to - anywhere in the city you can catch a taxi to the hotel (15 minutes to go). there are a lot of different foreigners in discos - all are polite, cheerful and smiling. lots of bars on the streets. and the locals - in general adore tourists, moreover, sincerely.

Yes, no one sits on the territory of the hotel, from 5-6 pm everyone is in the city - everyone finds entertainment for themselves. it is completely safe, people are walking, everyone is smiling, fun, music is everywhere ... about food - definitely don't worry, it's hard to stay hungry there. 3 * do not be embarrassed - in Thailand, a different vacation, in the hotel you will only sleep and have breakfast. I took Centara 5 * (Centara Grand Mirage 5 *) for the same reasons - I take good hotels and expensive rooms everywhere, the hotel is simply gorgeous, I did not regret it ... but I only spent the night in the room, although the room itself is a living room, a children's room, a bedroom , dressing room, bathroom with bath and shower ... a big plus - own beach (once swam), own water park, a huge pool with filtered sea water - that's where they soaked. so don't worry, you will surely like Thailand, good luck to you! I envy you with WHITE envy ...

yes, Thai beckons ... Bangkok - the city of Angels - nowhere without it, enchanted a modern Asian city with such a huge number of all kinds of temples, huge ancient and fat, just fabulous houses decorated with flowers, candles and fruits ... and of course the contrast between chic skyscrapers, right there - just opposite - abandoned long-term construction, terrible slums made of cardboard boxes literally a stone's throw from modern business centers ...

STATELY-yes, you've never been anywhere! Turkey, Egypt - pah! I've been to Turkey (6 times - when I had a small child), Egypt, Morocco, Malta, Israel, Thailand, Tunisia - few? There is nothing better than Thailand!
аватар STATELY
I was on excursions in Israel and Jerusalem. I had a couple of days there. I don't want any more either. They tried to choose Tunisia, they didn’t offer us anything sensible. It's just that all my friends say the same thing, that you need to go everywhere. But for what? To get the most pleasure or in order to tell them later that, behold, I was both there and there. I want it for myself, not for them. Well, you almost convinced me. Since there is nothing better than Thailand, you have to go with good thoughts! Maybe I'll like it too! Thank you!
аватар beckmannbor
One day in Jerusalem is wasted time. I lived in Israel for 2 months and didn’t see everything. That in your sense they didn’t offer you anything sensible! What a show off! We went to Turkey in the top five and fingers like a fan? Put your fingers down! All countries have a lot of history and ethnicity. There is something to watch!
аватар beckmannbor
And about the Turkish fives, a separate song. They assign themselves the stars themselves, and in European catalogs all these hotels are 1-2 stars lower.
аватар allenyshka
Yes, but in Thailand it's the other way around. There are such 3 and 4-ki that 5-cam in Turkey is far away.
аватар allenyshka
Uv.STATELY, why did you choose Pattaya in Thailand? Maybe with your requests (in a good way) - is it better to go to the islands?
аватар Anetka-gan
to visit Turkey to Egypt in 4-5 hotels, it means not to see the country, and not to understand it, not to taste delicious food, not to communicate with people and learn their culture. I love Turkey too, I love it. but I never live in a hotel, I just SLEEP there. and I can say with 100% certainty that you have not been to Turkey the way I was.
Same thing with Tai, it's an amazing country. you have to ride it, try it, see it. there are beautiful islands, exotic fruits, interesting people.
someone tay the best corner in the world, someone Katsapetovka. you look at others. try it yourself. But why are you eating if you don't care? you are not a traveller. you are a consumer. sorry.

It's like a drug. And not even so much Thailand as Asia in general. Another world, another culture, food, traditions - EVERYTHING!

Guys, go or not, I think, because. I didn't choose the hotel. A friend suggested to go. They have a ticket for two. I love hotels with a huge territory surrounded by greenery. Was not in others. Therefore, I am confident in my 5 *. Once a friend who had visited Cyprus twice and fell in love with it recommended me to go. We came to the agency for a ticket, but the manager immediately asked which hotels in Turkey I had been to. And when he heard, he said that at least 4 * Cyprus is not Turkey, but I will not like these hotels chosen by my girlfriend 100%%. They are very weak. In general, we did not go to Cyprus. Let's go back to Turkey. I agree that 5 * are different. I usually choose based on reviews. Honestly, there are almost no bad reviews about Thailand. Because I need to give an answer urgently, whether I'm going or not, I turned to all of you for help. If everyone liked it, then go!

If there is a paradise, then it is Thailand. My husband and I have been to different countries, but we always want to go there. Our friends have traveled all over the world and have been everywhere once, and in Thailand - 12 times !! Now there is a new sexy show going on - worth a look, and a drag queen show! Definitely in Pattaya!

SW.STATELY!!! Do not even hesitate, you will get a huge positive from Asia, in this case from Siam!!! Everything is interesting, everything is delicious, everything is intriguing and bewitching!!! I was only once, and...I will go more than once, and definitely!!! And all the friends who have visited Tae are eager to go there again !!! Be sure to visit the excursion to the River Kwai (with an overnight stay) and everything that is offered to you will not go wrong! The exception is the children's Disneyland in Bangkok (not necessary for adults). The last two weeks of rest turned out to be LITTLE!!! Draw your own conclusions...
аватар Lexx-AJ
by the way, you can bring wonderful souvenirs from Tai for friends))) - bright staple pareos that do not fade, do not shed, are opaque and unusually beautiful, cost a penny (a little less than $ 5), wonderful coconut oil for tanning - the tan is even, long keeps, and while sunbathing, you smell like a delicious coconut bun))))) take pictures with a tiger, feed an elephant and a crocodile, eat cobra soup, take a million wonderful photos, watch a transvestite show - an unforgettable sight, by the way, if you see a very beautiful woman on the street a girl is most likely a boy))))) I will go there in January, for sure, and it is in Botany, and it is in Pattaya. we were in Turkey, in the United Arab Emirates, in Egypt, in the Maldives, in the island of Hainan, in Jordan, but the strongest and best impression was left from Tai. even children, when asked, always choose Thailand, and this says something)))))))
аватар Anetka-gan
go and don't hesitate!!!
аватар beckmannbor
Why persuade such people?! Let them go to Turkey. There is a beach, sun, sea and a lot of yesterday's grub (even in 6-star hotels). And a boat trip is the peak of a great vacation!
аватар Lexx-AJ
for beckmannbor: no need to be so aggressive and unfriendly, the girl is trying to form an opinion about the country and the resort in particular, she asks quite reasonable questions, yes, she treats with some prejudice and apprehension - but this is absolutely normal. and no one persuades anyone, everyone is trying to share their good (!) Impressions and feelings, so that the author of the question would be interested and pleased to go on vacation. I don’t understand why create negativity in such a situation, I don’t understand at all, because a person wants to go on vacation, and he didn’t create the topic in order to be rudely advised to “put his fingers down” or ironically at his expense, but gave advice and shared opinion. be more tolerant of people, especially on sites like this one. sorry for my remark if it seems unpleasant to you.

SW.STATELY!
I traveled a lot, and I can say with confidence that there are no interesting places at all. The only difference is that some of them coincide with your feelings and expectations, and some are interesting, but you feel that these are not your countries. In order to determine how Thailand is yours, you need to try. In Thailand, there is such a variety of recreation, both beach and sightseeing, that I think it will not disappoint you.
As for the hotel you have chosen. For a 3* it's not bad. A bit old, there are similar, more modern hotels nearby (for example, Ravinda). But it is really located in an area where you can swim, although, of course, this is not a beach on the islands. He has a good, although not very large, area. Good 2 pools (one is for villas only). And you will not, unlike some other hotels, have any problems with transport. At the reception there is a schedule of minibuses that can take you to the center of Taptai (about $ 2).

If you are interested in rest just to "lie down" and to be entertained by someone, then you will be bored in Pottaya. You need to do everything yourself and arrange a vacation for yourself, then everything will work out!
аватар STATELY
Of course, all by myself. I don't know why so many people think that I like lying down? I traveled all over Turkey, met the Turks on the second trip, my girlfriend got married, has been living there for 3 years, there are also many Egyptians I know in Egypt, they keep cafes in Naama Bay on the very shore of the Red Sea, and their villas are also on the shore. We have been friends for the third year already. I know and love these countries. And I’m just afraid of Thailand, I read that they pluck gold and steal, and that they don’t clean the pools. And the sea is dirty. I just like it to be comfortable and clean. And traveling around the country and living in good conditions are not mutually exclusive concepts. Thanks a lot to everyone for the feedback. I'm going!!!!!!!!!!!

Those who say that they did not like Thailand most likely rested exclusively in Pattaya.
Pattaya is not Thailand, that is, of course, this is Thailand, but it does not reflect the full picture of nature, the ocean, people, culture ... You need to travel around Thailand, study it! A mass of islands untouched by civilization. Seafood, papayas, pineapples... And Thailand is clean, you can eat outside without worrying about your stomach.

Tell me, please, where to go besides the Kwai River. (We have already taken note of this!)

86 km north of Bangkok is the ancient capital of Siam and the modern
Ayutthaya Historical Park, famous for the ruins of ancient temples and the ruins of the Bang Pa-In Palace. To the west of Bangkok, near the town of Nakhon Pathom, is the world's largest Buddha statue, the 127-meter Pra Pathom Chedi. Not far from the town of Kanchanaburi are the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai and the Death Road, built by prisoners of war during World War II. Nearby is the famous cultural center "Garden of Roses", one of the best ethnographic expositions of the country, as well as the Samphran Zoo and Elephant Sanctuary.
Northern Thailand, so far little "mastered" by tourists, is, meanwhile, the birthplace of Thai civilization and the edge of tropical forests, waterfalls, bright national holidays, dozens of ancient cities and temples. For example, in Chiang Mai and its environs there are about 300 temples and historical monuments: Doi Suter Shrine, Wat Phra Singh, Wat Chiang Man (the oldest monastery in the region), Pra Satang Man with miniature images of the Buddha, which are about two thousand years old, as well as one of the shrines of Buddhism - standing on a mountain top 16 km northwest of Chiang Mai, Wat Phra Doi Suth Temple

Nearby is the mysterious city of Mae Hong Son with Wat Chhong Kham temple with ancient wall paintings. In the markets of Mae Hong Son you can find interesting folk souvenirs from Laos or Burma and the work of masters of the northern tribes of Thailand.
To the northeast of Chiang Mai lies the city of Chiang Rai, which is famous for its beautiful nature and numerous Buddhist temples. In the neighborhood, on the banks of the Mekong River, lies another ancient capital - Chiangsen, known for its temples and rich local history museum. And just outside the city begins the famous "Golden Triangle" - a mountainous forest area at the convergence of the borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos - the cradle of Thai civilization, where the first independent local states arose many centuries ago.
