Forgive me if the question seems stupid: where is it preferable to relax - in the northern or southern part of Pattaya?

In Naklua - the northern part of Pattaya.

South Pattai-Jamtien. Again, it's not clear: do you need proximity to the city center or do you need privacy, an expensive hotel, etc.?!
аватар Russ2209
I prefer north. The main reason:
1. the current goes from north to south - in theory, the water is a little cleaner (although you still need to go to the island, you just won’t do it every day - and accordingly, you will still swim at the hotel).
3. There are hotels on Naklua with their own beach (and not the city one) and they are not far from the center.
Jamtien also has hotels with their own beach (the same Botani), but very far from the center. I don’t like this one, I like not only to lie on the beach, but also to walk around.
аватар Amir1
absolutely no difference. The main thing is the proximity to inexpensive food and public transport. Most of all these requirements are met by the center, first and second streets. There are no private beaches in Thailand, it is prohibited by law. They are ALL public. It's just that there are some beaches that the locals can't get to. For example, the Garden Sea View beach, cut off from everyone by the temple of truth. But swimming in Pattaya is impossible anywhere. 2 hours ago I was in the very north, in the same Garden Sea View (he took tourists to the temple of truth). The sea is just terrible, as always. Better hotel closer to the center and the pier, such as Camelot. There food is cheap nearby and it takes 10 minutes to walk to the pier. A hotel is needed just to throw things somewhere and spend the night. He's just right for that.
аватар Oleksii64
I agree with Amir1. I lived in the center, on Koh Lan I met tourists from both the north and the south. The general conclusion is that after the island, at least south, at least north, you won’t climb into the sea.
аватар Forse
I like the north, although my friends rested in the south after the northern part of the city, they were also satisfied
аватар 4yuka
They lived both in the north and in the south, both in winter and in spring. The sea was normal, probably lucky. But you don’t hit the islands every day, it’s very tiring. I can understand Amir, what is he trying to achieve? Everything is so bad, don't go to Pattaya!?

I think that I will express the opinion of some part of the travelers if I say that we do not go to Pattaya in order to have a clean sea and a beach (if this is so important, why fly 10 hours - to Egypt 3.5).
We want to feel the aura of this city, its aroma (or smell - depending on how lucky :)), eat something like that (I don’t even know what it is made of), find ourselves in a bright and colorful world that is so different from our "gray "cities.
аватар Oleksii64
I belong to this part of travelers. If, for example, in Egypt we go to a HOTEL (essentially a reservation) and we don’t see the country, then we go to Thailand to the COUNTRY!
аватар Alfini
And I go for the "aroma", and for the cleanest sea - to the Thai islands or to the southern provinces.
If he manages to go to Pattaya, then to the north, to Naklua.

4yuka I want everyone to think like Russ2209 and Oleksii64. They are absolutely right. And everyone who travels to Thailand, in particular to Pattaya, should understand this. They don't go overseas. There are more interesting things here. Moreover, there is an opportunity to combine both adventure and the sea.
аватар 4yuka
I agree that you can combine adventure and the sea by going to Samet or Koh Chang for a few days. But Pattaya is a fairy tale!
аватар Pachok
"I make sure everyone thinks like Russ2209 and Oleksii64"
What for? All people are different, like different holidays and have different opinions. This is fine. Why drive everyone by force into the Pattaya "fairy tale"?
аватар Amir1
Pachok You didn't understand. I want everyone to understand where they are going, if they are already going to Pattaya. They don't come here by sea. I wanted to say this. And for tourists who travel overseas, I never advise Pattaya. Although I think that even such tourists need to see it once in a lifetime in order to at least have an idea of what it is. It is easy to travel to the islands from here.

and in general, as the experience of communicating with tourists shows, those tourists who go specifically for a beach holiday imagine a chic hotel on the shores of the endless ocean, shrouded in jungles and deserted beaches, with full board and chic service. I don’t understand why they choose Thailand for such a holiday. For this, there is the Dominican Republic, for example. But in Thailand this is not the case. They see it, get upset and leave dissatisfied. Then there are bad reviews about Thailand. This, of course, is my personal opinion, but I believe that you should go to Thailand for adventure, and not for a luxury hotel, beach and ocean. Especially for those traveling for the first time. In general, I think Thailand is ideal for an adventure holiday and nothing for a beach holiday. Therefore, only those who are looking for adventure should go here. And for this Pattaya is the best place. And only after visiting Pattaya, having understood what Thailand is, its features and how to behave here, you can go for a beach holiday for the second time if you like this country. Or never come here again if her arrangement is not to your liking. But, I repeat, this is only my opinion, although it is very stable.

"And only after visiting Pattaya, having understood what Thailand is, its features and how to behave here, you can go for a beach holiday for the second time if you like this country"
I don’t remember whether I wrote it or not: on my first trip to Thailand, I reasoned just like that - you definitely need to go to Pattaya, especially for the first time. Not the last role in this was played by one of our good friends, some at that time were already 8 times in Thailand, and all 8 times in Pattaya :) He categorically advised only and specifically Pattaya.
And I was very disappointed. It's good that the hotel was paid for only for three days, after which we just boarded a plane to U-Tapao and left for Koh Samui. Many years have passed since then, but I don’t even have the thought of returning to Pattaya again. I have visited many places in Thailand, but I have not seen a less "Thai" place than Pattaya in Thailand, including for adventure holidays.
Well, and, of course, in Thailand there are places for a wonderful beach holiday. With deserted beaches and clear sea, which is 5 meters from the door of the room.
This is also just my opinion. And very durable too :)

Pachok You are the exception rather than the rule. Give me an answer to the question: why do most tourists who go to Thailand for the first time, for the first time, and set themselves a beach holiday as their goal, remain unsatisfied? A counter question: why are tourists who go to Thailand for adventure 100% satisfied?
аватар Pachok
The answer to the first question is because travel agencies often have incompetent managers who offer tourists Pattaya as a beach or family vacation. The same price that TO put for the islands is inadequate to the quality.
The answer to the second question is that those who go specifically for adventure, as a rule, go on their own. This is a separate category of tourists :) they carefully prepare for the trip, study the route thoroughly and rarely get what they expected.
Answer to the second question. If we consider a trip to Nong Nooch, the Tiffany and the Sun show as "adventure", then their (tourists') requests are quite satisfied with a standard package to Pattaya, the price of which is more than affordable.
"Pachok You are the exception rather than the rule."
I'm working on it :) Of my friends-acquaintances, few people blindly rely only on the opinion of a travel agent, everyone is slowly learning to filter information and draw conclusions on their own.
аватар Pachok
Anatoly, you see, everyone has different goals and different requests. It cannot be said that Pattaya (or Koh Samui, or any other place) will always suit everyone.
аватар Amir1
So I want to prove this to you all the time. That "everyone has different goals and different needs. You can't say that Pattaya (or Koh Samui, or any other place) will always suit everyone." In general, I am against flying to Thailand for a beach holiday. Especially in Pattaya. HERE FOR ANOTHER COME!!! I'm tired of saying this on websites, but no one believes me. But on the other hand, what you can see in a SHORT TIME in terms of adventures ("adventure" really doesn't sound) from Pattaya is hard to see elsewhere. Especially tied to one hotel, as is always the case with tour operators.
And as for the fact that those who come for adventures arrive on their own, this is absolutely not the case. There are such people, but not the Russian people. They need to be led by the hand, which, in fact, is what I do here. It is the Europeans who can organize everything for themselves. They are more independent and know the language. Russians know only Russian and are afraid of everything. So they don’t succeed in any adventures, or somehow, until halfway through their vacation they realize that it’s better to contact an agency and organize everything without any problems at 2 times cheaper than they did before. And who did not understand this, they return
аватар Amir1
home and they say that in Thailand dinner costs at least 3000 for two and it is impossible to convince him. And a tuk-tuk costs at least 200 baht, not 10. And every day the money disappeared from the card at least 100 baht. Or the island of Koh Lan was for some reason not for 30 baht, but for 2000 and it turns out to be very small (they sat in the wrong place). We bought an excursion to Kwai for 5400 and rode in the same bus with those who paid 2900. And I can name hundreds of such punctures. So I repeat "you're more of an exception to the rule, not the rule." Few I have seen such independent. Oh, not much.

Guys tell me please, and who can I consult with? We just want to relax in Thailand. Money for everything about everything - only 60k-70k rubles. 7 or maybe 10 days for two from Moscow. We are ready to start from 21.08.2011 you must arrive home before 10.09.2011. You have already been there many times and know a lot. . . where to go and what to bypass, where to spend the night and what is better to see. Maybe there is a familiar good Guide who could coordinate us. There is such a plan in my thoughts: Buy tickets in Moscow to Thailand (Pattaya), find locals there and rent a room or apartment or room. In general, decide where to live, and then go to the islands to swim for a couple of days (if possible) and on excursions or just around the city, in general, for adventures. Can you tell me if this is real? Or is it cheaper just to visit the hotel? I would like to understand the prices. How much will it cost to rent a house? (room or apartment or hotel room) and what is the price and Name or link where can I find it all please. Also where can you eat? Is it possible to just go to the islands and spend the whole day there? do i have to pay for it? won't they get kicked out? and where. In general, we are flying for the first time - tell me experts :) Thank you for your help!
аватар Amir1
I personally wrote everything.

00lolka00, You are just in time for Amir! :) He perfectly organizes everything for you in Pattaya - both housing and the program.
аватар marmentyeva
Vesta60-of course, YOU choose, firstly, you will look at the budget of the trip and what exactly YOU expect from it. We personally go to Pattaya for the second time and are very satisfied with everything, in advance, I know what kind of excursions I would like to go and what to see, but there is SOMETHING to see !!! And I think many will agree with this. Beaches are of almost no interest to us, we are going to see this beautiful and a little mysterious country for us. garden. This year we looked at the hotel and again in the north of Pattaya (convenient location, everything is nearby, convenient and quick to get to and the price is good, it suited us) Woodlands Hotel 4 *. The area there is very beautiful and not small and 2 pools and not tiny.
So you decide what you want to get from the trip - see this country, visit its different regions, or maybe go to CAMBODIA, or just lie on the beach, depending on this, and choose a city or island where you better stay !! !
I completely agree with Amir1, and you can have lunch and dinner in Pattaya in different ways, and for 300 for two and for 3000 !!! HAVE A GOOD HOLIDAY

Outskirts of Pattaya, this is a great compromise between the islands and Egypt.
