Pattaya or Phuket?
We are going with a family of children 5 and 15 years old to Thailand for the first time. We can’t stop at choosing Pattaya, Phuket or Koh Chang. I want to relax normally, so that the sea is clean and the hotel is normal, at the same time I go on excursions. The reviews about Pattaya are terribly scary - the dirty sea, the streets are generally a nightmare, I generally keep quiet about outright revelry. Is it really so? Please tell me who has been more than once how and where it is better to relax in Thailand in order to get a good impression of the country. Thank you very much!!!

We had the same questions.
I rummaged through the entire Internet, read hotel reviews, ratings, and so on. The choice fell unequivocally on Phuket, Karon or Kata beach, although it is more expensive than Pattaya. There are a lot of excursions, the infrastructure is developed.
We are going the same for the first time, but after appropriate preparation there are no fears, on the contrary, a premonition of the unusual and positive!
We fly on December 4th Bamboo House 3* Phuket, Karon Beach

I was in Thailand in different places, I have not seen a worse place than Pattaya. Although, in fairness, it must be said that there are many interesting excursions from there.
Choose a resort depending on the season, except for Pattaya, everywhere is good :)
When is the best time to go:
NOVEMBER-APRIL: Phuket, Krabi, Phi-Phi, Lanta, Ranong, Phang-Nga, Trang, Satun, Chang, Mak, Kud.
MARCH-OCTOBER: Koh Samui, Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Chumphon, Khanom, Cha-am, Hua Hin."""
Take a map and decide :)

Revelry in Thailand is everywhere - this is one of the reasons why you don’t want to go back there - it’s not very pleasant when your companion is constantly hung on the streets and dragged somewhere, not paying attention that he is not alone and fights back. We were in Phuket, Kata beach - not bad, you can go by boat around the islands for the whole day, in the evening to the Fantasy show - the children will be delighted, I won’t say that we really liked the sea and the beaches, although our friends are delighted - and now they are planning 3 weeks every year in Thailand and we fell in love with Malaysia

Good day! There is no single answer to your question! If you choose between two places Phuket or Pattaya, then definitely Phuket. I'll try to explain with examples. Pattaya is a place where almost everyone who wants to get a lot of pleasure for little money is eager, regardless of the fact that the sea is dirty there, there are a lot of people, which has its own subtleties in terms of aesthetics and morality. But they go there to break away. Phuket will also soon become the same, but for this it still takes years, although it is not far off. The advantages of Phuket are clear sea, relaxed vacation, there are also excursions and exotics. But the money is already completely different, due to the remoteness of this island. The fact that the beaches of Karon and Kata are advised to you, I can not agree with these people, because there are places that are cleaner and not so crowded. But everything will depend on your budget.. Well, I can say one thing about Chang, this is a heavenly place, but it has not yet been fully developed, and it’s very good there, the beaches are clean, there are not so many people, and in general it’s still a place for relaxation, for a relaxing holiday. Well, you boron will always be yours! Good luck!

For Pachok, I haven’t been to Hua Hin, only in Phuket, they specially chose a quieter place, away from Patong and hot places, but, unfortunately, we couldn’t avoid the feeling of dirt, no matter how hard we tried. Thousands of people are in love with Thailand, and they are right, but for us the question of going there again will never arise. But we will go to Malaysia again and again

lubitelj, what resort would you recommend in Malaysia? I would like to visit Malaysia and the Philippines on my next trip to Southeast Asia. What to see in Malaysia, I have already more or less decided, but with the island (what) the question is still open.
P.S. If you are still brought back to Thailand :) I recommend Hua Hin - clean, cultural, no revelry, a resort of the royal family.

Pachok - if you want to swim, then go not to Langkawi or Tioman, but if you look - Penang, Kuala Lumpur, they say Malacca is good, we are planning Kuala Lampur and Langkawi next time. It was great in Penang - but you can swim with pleasure only during excursions to the islets, on Bata Ferringhi the water near the coast is unclear, and you don’t want to go further, because there are warnings about jellyfish everywhere. They didn't see jellyfish for 6 days, but they were afraid to swim far - just in case...

Chang Island - sea and sand;
Pattaya - country
Phuket is somewhere in between...
