Which neighboring country is better to visit from Thailand
We are going to Thailand in late October-early November for 14 days. The format of the trip is as follows: 7-8 days, a rich excursion program with a visit to some neighboring country (Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar) + 6-7 days of a beach holiday on one of the islands. We go through a travel agency. We did not find a ready-made tour that would suit us, so we will combine it ourselves. In this regard, two questions:
1. Which neighboring country is better to visit, where is more interesting, more impressions?
2. Does it make sense to book this tour directly in our travel agency or better on the spot? If the latter, then where to order? And how much does it cost approximately in dollars (otherwise the figure of 9000 baht does not tell me anything :))

Do not try to embrace the immensity, 14 days and Thailand itself is not enough ... So many islands and all are unique ... And Bangkog? And then, can you imagine what is happening in Myanmar? With tourism (and not only) it’s tense there ... On the map, everything seems to be nearby, “around the corner”, but in reality there are huge distances and plus temperature and humidity ... Look at Thailand this time, then there will be Vietnam, for example, God forbid it's not the last time...

Wouldn't it be easier to fly by yourself? it would be cheaper! You will still spend money on an independent organization. and so the agency was paid and you yourself are spinning.
visit - Cambodia. Angkor is there.

ksenka1, I looked at the list of proposed excursions in Thailand on different sites, I can’t say that they inspired me enough to devote all 14 days to this. See each island individually... Well, I don't know. It's kind of boring and monotonous in my opinion. Although, maybe I missed something. What would you recommend to see in Thailand? As for Myanmar, I don’t know, but they offer tours there. :))))
Anetka-gan, the fact is that we have experience of independent trips only in Europe. We have never been to Asia (Turkey does not count), so we did not risk it. We will go for the first time with a travel agency for exploration, look around, and the next time we will do it ourselves. The firm will coordinate everything, we just need to decide exactly what we want.

And which side of Thailand do you eat through a travel agency?

Where is the tour through TO? I agree with ksenka1 - 14 days - very, very little, this is not Turkey. It is not worth combining Thai and Vietnam. For 14 days and the first time - maximum Cambodia from the Pattaya region and Koh Chang ( 9000 baht - $ 300)

We arrive standard - in Bangkok. We will spend there, I think 2 days. And then - I don’t know, obviously to Pattaya, there are 2-3 days with excursions, and from there to Cambodia, for example, another 2-3 days. We are accustomed to a very active holiday in terms of travel and see. But of course, we can't cover the whole country - it's big. After returning - to the island, while we choose which one. And there is already a calm, measured pastime.
Please help me with advice, I want something optimal.
Oleksii64, I'm also thinking about going to Vietnam separately next time, maybe even on a pure excursion without a beach holiday. Men are simply confusing: all militaristic sights (war tunnels, etc.) do not give them rest.

Where exactly are you going to Thailand? If you are in Pattaya, then you can go to Kombodia from local TOs for 6,000 baht (1 baht = 1 ruble).

Inna, it’s somehow incomprehensible - a tour through a company, but where it’s unknown, or just air tickets? Planned like a good idea, only in Pattaya, 10 days needed. 2-3 days Cambodia, 2-river Kwai (there is even a military bridge across the river Kwai, there is even a Japanese steam locomotive and a 40s jeep + SPA), Nong Nooch, Crocodile farm - the last two operators often give as a gift. Already it turns out 6-7 days. You write that you like outdoor activities, just 3-4 days remain on the island. And maybe leave Bangkok at the end of the tour - here you need to look at the time of departure and arrival - the convenience of the transfer. Where to take excursions - you need to look at the offers.

Thailand is best combined with Cambodia - 2-3 days in Cambodia is enough. There is nothing to do longer in Cambodia ... so it’s not worth flying there separately - that’s why they capture it most often with Thailand.
and on the island after such an excursion program you will wallow without hind legs, but is it worth it to fly to the island for 3-4 days ... I think this is a waste of money
аватар inna.a
Thanks for the advice. I tend to Cambodia as the best option.
Oleksii64, I can see poorly formulated. The fact is that ready-made tours do not suit us, as they offer:
1. different options for a pure excursion in Southeast Asia for 12-14 days without a beach holiday;
2. not a very good combination of an excursion with a beach holiday in Pattaya (Phuket)
3. Thailand + Bali or Thailand + Malaysia
Therefore, we agreed that we will make a tour according to our wishes. We need to decide where we want, and the company will organize: international (s) and domestic flights, transfers, hotels, if we want - excursions in whole or in part, visas if necessary. So that nothing would bother us upon arrival. Naturally, the manager will offer something, but I need to have at least a little knowledge of the issue. I'm studying until Monday.
About ordering excursions on the spot. How does it look like for them: street travel agencies like in Turkey? Or contact a guide? Or how?

PlyusheMonstr, to the island definitely for 6-7 days. Anything less really doesn't make sense.

Here, contact Amir1, he will draw up a program for you for the whole vacation, because. he works at a local travel agency. His prices are 1.5-2 times lower than those of tour operators.

Inna, an approximate version of the tour (offered by many tour operators in the package, which is cheaper): Pattaya - 7 days (excursions), Koh Chang (island) - 5 days, Bangkok - 2 days. No domestic flights. Pattaya and Koh Samui are not often combined (flight through Bangkok) and for the first time it’s probably not worth it (impressions will be over the roof anyway :))). Is the company a domestic tour operator? An individual tour through TO is more expensive. Travel agencies, like shops on the street, take excursions from them or from TO, look here for a thread of questions on Thailand, there are prices and much more. Tours must be ordered (and paid) on the spot. The scheme of work of the company (TO?) is as follows - they will simply convey your wishes to the meeting party, of course, not forgetting their interest. Amir1 (Anatoly) is such a meeting party, usually he is on the site every day, something is not yet visible to him. At home, TO makes insurance and tickets, which is also solved. If you are flying through Moscow on a charter, there, probably, the specifics of the work of TO are different, I don’t know. All of the above about TO is if the financial side of the issue is relevant to you.

You can "donate" Bangkok: Pattaya-8 days, Koh Chang-6
аватар Amir1
"ready-made tours do not suit us." And rightly so. Each person is individual and the program must be done for each individual. Which is what I do all the time. I will say from my own experience that programs are rarely repeated, very rarely. But you can do anything.
аватар Amir1
4yuka correction. I don't work for a local agency. I am its owner. :))))))) And thanks for the recommendation.
Oleksii64 You can make a program and pay for excursions in your country through any agency. Even my services (so far only in Ukraine). But there will be a commission, as you said "your interest." It's easier, but more expensive. If you contact the local agency directly, it will be cheaper, because. You don't have to pay agency fees for clients. And this is 14% in our case. You can also pay at home (only for Ukraine), so as not to carry extra money with you, and Russians pay upon arrival.
аватар Amir1
The tour operator (Russian or Ukrainian, it doesn’t matter) has more expensive prices for the reason that the tour includes a commission to the agency, a commission to the guide (and not small) and the tour operator’s earnings (after all, he buys these excursions in the same way from locals). And for locals, these costs are not included in the cost of the tour. This is why local excursions are cheaper, which do not and cannot differ from tour operators, and often people who paid for Kwai 5400 travel on the same bus with people who paid for the same Kwai 2900. After all, they are served by the same local company.

Amir1, for some reason your site does not open. Yesterday I looked through it - it's normal, but today I wanted to show my husband - it gives out a set of characters.
аватар Angelika55
I also could not access your site, Amir1
аватар Amir1
sorry, the site is installing a new system for selecting tours. It will be closed until Monday.
аватар Amir1
it's already working!!!!

It is called - to Everest by helicopter. It's nonsense that in my head there is a hodgepodge of the smells of Plumeria, coconut oil, and drainage sewage, but the top is "conquered" and the next toothpicks are stuck in the globe :)
