Katya is calmer in terms of a measured, beach holiday. There are fewer people. DeWa is in the north, very close to the airport. Crazy people go there to be photographed with planes landing on their heads. There is nothing good next to the landing liners, except for the remnants of poisonous fuel. True, within walking distance of the water park, but this is a dubious advantage. For me, of all the places we have been, Karon is the best. If you are interested in parties and big shops, then Patong. But the sea there is worse than Karon and Kata.

We really liked the IBIS 3 * hotel in the center of the street, it’s convenient to explore Kata on both sides. The hotel is a European chain, the rooms are not large, but with a good finish, one drawback is a tiny locker for linen, but you are going in the very heat - at least clothes!

We have been on Kata Beach since March 5, 2016, if you are going to fly - fly, everything is fine, although the water in the pools, where the sun is shallow and the sun hits, was just hot in the evening. We rested at the Kata Sea Breeze 3 * hotel, we chose it as a hotel with a territory and pools where it is allowed to swim in the evening, but as said above, the water was very warm, and during the day it was quite normal. By the way, I advise this hotel if it is not more expensive than yours, as well as 4 * PGS HOTELS CASA DEL SOL and Kata Palm Resort & Spa 4 * hotels. These hotels are located closer to the left side of Kata Beach, going from them to the beach is also not a problem, like from the SUGAR MARINA hotel, but not along the stink river, but past the fountain with elephants and the municipality building.
Although if you walk past the river, you will get to the center of the beach, casuarina trees grow there, you may find a little shade under them, but they have long thorns on the sand, which is not very comfortable. The Ibis hotel that you were recommended is also ok, so look at your budget.

The main thing is to use a cream with protection 50, because the sun in March is very active for the skin, which has already managed to wean itself from summer tanning over the winter, we almost burned out at lunch while we were looking for a cafe and a tour desk. I did not feel the sun in Pattaya in June, as in March in Phuket. Creams from Garnier and Nivea work well. We already bought Nivea here, in a pharmacy in Phuket, these creams are not cheap both in Russia and in Thailand, but you need exactly the factor 50. Your SUGAR MARINA hotel is located on the street leading from the sea to the market, and so opposite the market you will see a green cafe, try the wonderful Tom Kha soup with coconut milk with chicken there, we went there for the sake of this soup (unless, of course, nothing has changed there in 3 years).

About the meals. Tom Yum and Tom Kha, a must for the first time visitor to Tai. But ... The last time, Karon was in April for the Thai New Year. On the first day, we went to the nearest cafe for our favorite Tom Yum. And .. The owner turned out to be Italian. He made a pizzeria, and Thai dishes were served GENERALLY insipid. Anyone who has eaten this dish imagines how it tastes without spices at all. No way ... Bullshit-bullshit. And I realized how surprised I was listening to the review: yes, I ate Tom Yum - nothing special, and it is not spicy at all and not tasty. So watch where you get your food. European chefs sometimes bring local dishes to insanity .. Ask those who have been more than once where they cook delicious Thai dishes. Not everywhere. Otherwise, you will get a distorted idea of great, spicy Thai food. If we hadn’t been to Southeast Asia for 10 years, we would also say: what a disgusting thing, having tried Tom Yum in an Italian pizzeria. :-(

Sugar Marina hotels are good value for money. Were in a caron hotel in Sugar Marina Resort Art. I liked the hotel with services, staff, food, proximity to the sea. Several hotels of this line are located on the cat. I would choose them. Last year we were in a hotel near Phuket airport, a complete disappointment, although the hotel is 5 stars. The constant rumble from aircraft day and night, no sea, the water in the water park is dirty. In two days we fly to Phuket, I chose a hotel on Surin Beach, I think we will be satisfied.

We also visited Sugar Marina Resort Art last year. Center place. The beginning of the "inhabited" part of Karon, next to the circle. To the north along the beach, there are beautiful cafes without a crowd, and further, behind the statue of a fisherman, pines mixed with palm trees and "singing sands" Karon .... There are practically no people, a shade and a magnificent, clean beach ... And the hotel is very good . Only the pool is too hot during the day. But we didn't really use it.
