From which airport? There are flights to Bangkok, Phuket, Koh Samui and Krabi.
аватар natalka_kyiv
Pattaya is not far from the airport, there are many inexpensive cafes, but you can’t swim there - the sea is very dirty. If there is a direct flight to Phuket, fly there. Patong, Karon or Kata beaches. Google on which of them the sea is calmer in your time. Since April, the rainy season begins for a couple of months, I don’t recommend flying at all!

Not far is within how many km?
аватар ninok54
Well, in order not to go another 2 hours from the airport. To avoid waves, of course, I would not want low tides
аватар ollennka
Well then Krabi, for example, Aonang beach. Very calm and nice, hotels, shops, restaurants along the beach. There were no waves. Traveled in December.

The author never wrote in which AE he arrives, but if the beaches are not far from the AE, then you are clearly not in Suvarnabhumi. Although it takes about 1.5 hours to go to Pattaya, I wouldn’t risk swimming on its beaches, but I would swim, at least to Koh Lan.
аватар ollennka
As far as I understand, the author just chooses which airport to fly to.
аватар lazy_person
Most likely, he will go to Pattaya (easier). From Bangkok to Pattaya 150 km. (hour 2..). Of course, it is better to go directly to the beach areas, for example (Krabi .. etc.). But is there a direct flight, most likely a transit flight through Bangkok. It is more expensive and the flight is longer, longer travel time.

You can choose your own beach. Ask a question in a search engine .. for example, Phuket Airport on the map, Krabi Airport on the map, etc. (Koh Samui Airport). See the hotel and the beach on the same map. Transit flights fly there, through Bangkok or flights with transfers in Bangkok.
Here is a picture with the distance to Patong Beach - the famous resort center of Phuket.

People don’t swim on Ao Nang, it’s dirty and the tides are wild. But the place is cute. If you have the enthusiasm to go boating to Pranang every day, it's a good option.
But for this time of the year, with a child and close to the airport, I would choose Koh Samui. Here, just the normal season will soon begin, a very calm place, the beaches of Lamai and Maenam without pronounced low tides. On Chaweng, it depends on the place, the further south - the less low tide. The island is small, from the airport to any hotel on popular beaches for a maximum of half an hour.
аватар Pachok
And for a child there is all the Thai mandatory entertainment and everything is close - elephants, crocodiles, and a cool zoo on top of a mountain, with tame gibbons, deer and a pool overlooking the island and the sea.

))) Normally everyone swam at Aonang, including me. I'm not a specialist in ebb tides, maybe they were, just a difference of three to five meters to the water's edge is not critical for me.

In general, people asked about inexpensive ones! Cafes are expensive in Phuket! We are traveling with an 11 year old child to Hua Hin. Already 3 times. Not expensive, the sea is clean, and if the hotel is near Lotus or Blue Port, then cheap food is provided. Take a map and look. I like Saylom and next

Taxi from Bangkok 2 hours. Located at the level of PATTAYA, BUT ON THE OTHER SIDE of the Gulf of Thailand. There is even a summer residence of the king.

Citizens, this “ninok54” has been asking the same question for the fifth year already, I think he can independently go for all the answers received earlier!

Tavysho!!!! And we try, we advise ((((.
аватар Pachok
ollenka, and the water was clean? And among the departing boats did not have to maneuver?
I have been to Ao Nang three times, all times in April, and I have never bought there :))) Pranang - yes, great water, clear, turquoise, beauty around, but 15 minutes on a longtail you have to get there :)

Oh Hua Hin! It is very interesting to hear where and how vacationers bathed. We were also there in the spring, in May, we didn’t find the sea from the word at all. Low tide during the day and about 500 meters, the beach is wide, just right for horseback riding. Out of desperation, they traveled all over the neighborhood - you can’t swim anywhere normally. Even in the reserve. Perhaps in Cha-Am, but it is very muddy there, and the shower and toilet are in souvenir shops across the road from the beach.
But housing and food are indeed very cheap, there is practically no sex industry, single bars do not count. Purely. And in comparison with Pattaya - just sterile :) The airport is far away.
Phuket is more expensive than Hua Hin, but it’s not critical if you don’t settle in Patong in the top five :) But I don’t recommend it for another reason - the end of the season on the Andaman coast, which means not so much rain as restless sea and the cancellation of some sea excursions.

Pachok, the water was quite clean for swimming, I would not climb into the dirty one. I would compare the cleanliness with the Persian Gulf - unclear, but it is quite possible to swim.
There were not many boats, they stood in two or three groups. You can simply move away from the boats, why climb "under the wheels".
аватар Pachok
Yes, they moor anywhere ... For me, everything that is muddy is dirty :)
аватар ollennka
Oh my god, well, it’s clear that perfectly clear water is more pleasant)))). But on sandy beaches, this water does not happen, there is nowhere to go.
аватар Pachok
It happens, of course :) And on Pranang in Krabi, and on Chaweng on Koh Samui.
And muddy water in the tropics is also dangerous.
аватар ollennka
Well, now it remains only to go and check for yourself whether the water is ideally clear in these places))). So far, I have only seen cloudy water with a sandy bottom on the Golden Beach in Cyprus.
аватар Pachok
Still on Tao, on the Similans, and even on Karon nothing like water :)
And going is always better than not going! I would have more freedom and money, I would not have appeared at home :)
аватар ollennka
I was in Thailand for only a week in Krabi. Thailand is one of two countries that I actively disliked. But since Thailand is big, and I saw only a piece, he still has every chance to be rehabilitated. The most serious strain was with food, everything was disgustingly sweet ...
аватар Pachok
Well... Krabi is one of the most beautiful places. If you didn't like it there, perhaps Thailand is just not for you.
So Tunisia and Bulgaria didn’t “enter” me.
And Thai cuisine is the main reason why we went there again and again :))) I also try to cook at home, but it doesn’t work out at all.
аватар lazy_person
It's all about beauty and clean beaches. The author is traveling for the first time. I would write at least one "experienced" one, what route will be done with the child in order to get, for example, to Krabi or Phuket ... how long is the journey.
аватар Pachok
The author of the question is from Russia, they have charters to both Phuket and Krabi. Travel time depends on the city from which the departure will be.
аватар lazy_person
Laconic answer. We don't know the departure city.
аватар ollennka
Novosibirsk, I guess.
