What to see in Bodrum city?
Please tell me! We are planning a vacation in a hotel in Bodrum. We heard about the fortress in the city. How to find it if we want to visit on our own. Does anyone know the hours of operation and prices? What else can you visit on your own, without a tour. Thanks.

we went to the city ourselves, there any minibus travels 10 minutes (from our hotel - Belize), arrives at the "bus station", there is the final one, right along the street you can come to the market or to the embankment. the embankment itself is very beautiful with yachts and shops, and there is also the entrance to the Halicarnassus fortress. I don’t remember the opening hours (in some mud it’s closed), the price is something around 10 lira, it’s not expensive, it’s interesting there, especially the views of the whole of Bodrum. We were also taken on a mini-excursion by guides to the GATE in Bodrum (ruins), to a leather and jewelry factory. quite interesting, but it’s difficult to take minibuses there, it’s better to go with guides for $ 10. but you can walk along the embankment and the fortress, and shops on your own. there is even a travel agency there, the cat saw us 100 meters away and began to invite us: excursions for Russians :):) they say it’s cheaper than the guides, but we didn’t recognize us.

In Bodrum, you should definitely visit the fortress of St. Peter, a fortress built by knights in the Middle Ages from the stones of the Halicarnassus mausoleum, destroyed by an earthquake. Now in the fortress there is a museum of underwater archeology, where the finds of archaeologists raised from the bottom of the sea are exhibited. The fortress has several towers, in which the interiors of the Middle Ages are recreated: a knight's dining hall, there is a prison, etc. All this is very interesting. Do not miss the statue of a headless commander (the head was removable, the current commandant was screwed on), you will like the photo of this statue with your head))) Do not be too lazy to climb to the highest platforms of the fortress, the view from there is absolutely magnificent. Ticket price 10 lira, open daily, except Monday, until 6 o'clock.
It is very interesting just to go to the fortress, on the embankment on the left there are ruins with shells and products made from them, and on the right there is a port with yachts.
When we returned to the bus station (“garage” in Turkish), at some point we almost deliberately turned into a narrow shopless street, and this also turned out to be very interesting: the street was a meter and a half wide, guarded in the walls of houses and between the stones of the pavement ...
