overnight hotel tax
Good day, forum users). Curious: is a hotel tax required if the bus tour of Italy "Cities of the Arts" is selected? TA did not say anything about it, but in the reviews someone writes - 1-5 euros per night. *Thank you in advance))

Good evening. In Italy, the city tax is indeed paid, it is strange that you were not warned at the agency. The amount of the tax varies depending on the hotel (usually it is 1-1.5 euros / night). Payment is made at the hotel upon check-in.

Thanks, Svetlana. Maximum 1.5, not 5, as I read in the reviews?

It depends on the category of the hotel and its location..Typically, the tax does not exceed 1.5 euros per night, especially on standard sightseeing tours.

The tax depends on the city hall and on * the hotel:
if you stay in a 4 * hotel, plus you have to pay tax in addition to the cost in CASH.
for 4* - 6 euro
for 3* - 4 euros.
It's in Rome! In other cities - other rates accepted by the municipality, in some they simply do not exist.

In Rome, we didn’t pay tax (maybe the guide paid for everyone?), But in Montecatini there was a tax vase at the reception desk. Well, our people voluntarily pay something;). It’s like paying for a toilet. but only the most conscientious pay))

uh ... strange, about the vase. The tax is paid without fail, for each person. If you do not pay, then the hotel must pay from its own funds. Most likely it was included in the total price, and the vase is a divorce of tourists for extra money)))

I was in Italy in Rome and Florence at the end of September. The tax has nothing to do with the price of accommodation. . It is required from personal funds. It cannot be paid for at the time of purchase. Will they cancel? But it must be paid. Otherwise they won't settle. In Florence, the guide simply collected money from us earlier in order to save time during registration. A vase - yes divorce

We did not live in Florence (we spent the night in Montecatini - it was 50-70 euros cheaper there). In Rome they lived in 4 *, but on the outskirts. From personal - they definitely didn’t pay, probably it was still included in the price. We also stayed overnight in Rimini - there was no tax. We lived a week in Lido di Esollo - there was also no tax. Maybe in resort towns is also included immediately in the price of the room?

I got it. Thank you)

Marina Di Massa had no tax. Chianciano Terme-1 euro.
Rome - Luxury and Luce (Terimini) hotels Tax 6 euros per night.
Florence - Columbus Hotel 4 euros (like. I do not remember exactly)
