Fly or drive?
Good day to all!
I want to go to Italy for the New Year, just to see the country. I looked at Ukrainian tour operators offer mainly flights, but there is also a railway + bus. if the flight is much more expensive than ground transport. In general, the question is for those who traveled by railway + bus - is it very bad? .... felt such that "it would be better if we flew!" .... or is it normal?

It all depends on how much you are usidchev :)
Of course, flying is faster and easier for the 5th point, but if there is not much money, then go by bus. On the road, they make scheduled fairly frequent stops, during which you can walk, stretch your legs, have a snack, etc. familiar ezdia with her daughter 12 years old, liked it, so go.
impressions from Italy will brighten up any roads.

it all depends on your habits and of course financial condition
if you conditionally fly Kyiv - Lviv only by plane, then of course you need to fly to Italy by plane ...
otherwise, look at the programs of similar tours: are there any night crossings (this is the main point to pay attention to)
bus tours are very interesting because in addition to the country of destination - Italy - you will see several more countries in transit, and not just from the bus, there will be full-fledged city tours, try the local cuisine, etc.

Traveling by bus also has its advantages, especially if the group is good. If a bad group is on a bus tour - write, it's gone.
For myself, I concluded that if the train + bus, then the train is only to Lviv or Uzhgorod, so that the border can be passed by bus. Maybe, of course, you won’t be lucky and there will be a queue, but so far it’s been passing, pah-pah :)))
On the train, they passed the Polish border - cursed everything in the world! For three and a half hours in the middle of the night they pulled the train back and forth, some border guards, customs officers, workers with wrenches broke into the compartment, then peeled off the lining from the compartment - they were looking for contraband cigarettes ... well, fuck him! And this despite the fact that I always redeem all 4 compartment seats for my husband and me.
There is another option to join the bus group already in Europe, this is if you come across good promotional or Vizer tickets for the dates you need.
аватар Pachok
Oh, and by the way, I strongly recommend that you follow our example and buy out all the compartments, at least for the return trip.

Well, you know... saving on NG... it's absurd... just imagine that you arrive tired, and you just need the strength for this beautiful country.
Better look for some good deals

aquarel, why do you write that mainly air tours?
A lot of bus (with train)!
Look at Feeria, Incomarthur and Artex, there are entire sections of bus tours, this is their main theme.
You can also have Alliance and Accord, I don’t remember exactly, they have Italy.
аватар aquarel
ok, I'll take a look :)
Thank you :)
Here another problem got out - the time limit!
those. now, if on Saturday to leave and the next sun to be in Kyiv again - it would be ideal! But you can’t fit into such a framework by bus! .... I don’t know .... in the process of deciding now.
аватар Pachok
Well, I watched a tour for my parents at Incomart, where on the way there the group passes through Munich, back through Cologne. Wizz Air flies to Cologne and Munich. And minus the rest of the road, it turned out just a week. It was not Italy, but maybe something like that can be invented.
And, of course, these operators also offer air connection to bus tours, only there the air ticket price is decent.
аватар vika_best
In May, I flew with the travel agency "Let's rest" the tour "Classic Italy" - super !!! it even turned out "2 days" at sea. On NG the sea is probably not relevant, look at their other tours.
Price, time and pleasure guaranteed!!!
The difference in plus 100-150 euros between air and bus, think about it !!!
аватар Anetka-gan
once I went to Hungary by bus, well, it’s on .. :) our planes are everything. for such amenities and pay extra. if it’s not a burden for you to sit out - please. Less money will go away. but not physically suitable for everyone.
аватар natalie1717
3 hours by plane and 26 hours by bus - choose for yourself!
аватар aquarel
It takes 3 hours to fly to Italy???.... I would never have thought... I flew to Israel at 3.20... it seemed to me further :/...
While I found a bus tour that suits me, I fit in a week - the main thing .... But there is still time, maybe a lot of money will roll in for me :))))) then I’ll fly again :) .... I just watched the difference somehow - times for the cost of air tickets - 350-400 euros, not 150.
For me, this is significant.
аватар Anetka-gan
Vizeir will cost you the same price as the bus.
аватар Pachok
Yes, but the bus is not deducted from the cost of the tour, the seats are still sold. Vizer in any case will need to be added to the cost. Subtract w / d. It is possible that the cost of the railway will be equal to the cost of the visair.
aquarel, and what kind of tour, if not a secret?
аватар vika_best
Are you saying that a bus tour to Italy costs 400 euros?
аватар vika_best
Tickets to Rome round-trip from travel agencies cost 230 euros.
аватар aquarel
I saw the tour at the desk of companies - there to Lviv railway then Budapest, then Italy (including Venice, Milan, Verona and Florence) .... Rome is not, but I saw the map, Rome is already south and go to it far, So I think for now to do without Rome, and Rome then, especially since there are many tours of air and bus de Rome and only Rome :) and maybe Viseier will fly to Rome ... in general, this is the next question.
аватар aquarel
I haven’t seen tickets to Rome for 230 euros yet .... is it there and back? flight? .... I just saw from 367 to 400 euros ...: /
a bus tour to Italy still costs 350-400-490-500-600 euros :) depending on what kind of tour and what we watch on the way :)
аватар vika_best
And for 350-400-490-500-600 how much will you be in Italy itself? 1 day or 2?
For 230 round trip, you can even at the ticket office, if I don’t remember where in advance and with a transit transfer (Romania or Hungary).
there are many discount conditions for tickets: 1 if you take a round-trip ticket with a departure from the same city; 2 stays from Saturday to Sunday and many more things that give a discount.

book a visaer, a hotel and get a visa at the visa center. Everything will be much cheaper and more reliable than in a travel agency.

vika_best, why so much sarcasm?
Incomart has a New Year's 11-day tour for 595 Euros, of which 7 days are Italy. Ljubljana and Trieste are on the way there.
Take the trouble to say, please, where are the tickets for 230 to Rome, otherwise the statement is unfounded :))) Especially for the New Year.
аватар marta70
7 days is given the day of arrival and departure, it will be 5. Yes, how much time to ride the bus. Vizair, the original price of 350 hryvnia (I bought it myself) is now, of course, more expensive. It is tiring to travel by bus, and you also lose time on travel, you can travel all day, and you are connected with the group. Maybe someone likes it, but personally I am for independent tourism (although I came across normal travel agencies before, it’s still much better to go myself, how many times I’m convinced)
аватар marta70
I want to add that I looked at the price of Vizeir for 700 hryvnia one way, you can buy a ticket for the New Year period. This, by the way, is even cheaper than 230 euros. Hotels also have special offers. So 600 euros by bus is not so cheap. Given that how many times will I lose on the train, parking at customs, moving.
аватар Pachok
marta70, I agree with you and wrote about Vizer in my first message. 7 full days, because the day of arrival and the day of departure are full excursion days.
Many prefer a group with a guide to independent tyrism. Personally, I travel a lot myself, but, as a rule, I go to the country for the first time with a group excursion tour. If you get a good guide, it will be an unforgettable trip. I would rather choose a guided tour.
аватар natalie1717
I can give the bodies of a guide in Milan, a beautiful woman, an art critic! Excursions are unforgettable!
аватар vika_best
There is no sarcasm in my answers. I just want to help a person and that it really was a trip to Italy, and not a gallop through Europe.
On the account of where to buy tickets at this price, read my answer above. Hint - ticket offices.
аватар Pachok
If you really want to help a person, please provide reliable and verified information.
The fact that there are discounts on air tickets is a common phrase. You wrote that an air ticket to Italy costs 230 Euros, please take the trouble to write which airline sells such tickets.
It is also not clear why, if the air ticket is 230 Euros, then the difference between the air and the bus, as you wrote, is 100-150 Euros.
аватар marta70
Vizeir at a price cheaper than a bus if you buy tickets at a low price. I personally bought for 700 hryvnia (round trip) and a credit card fee of about 100 hryvnia. Baggage 115 hryvnia. It's easy to calculate yourself. that they clung to the price of 2309. This may also be, you need to follow the shares. I bought an Erfrance share in Paris, also within the same limits, about 1.5 years ago
аватар marta70
I'll fix it, the price is 230, 9 accidentally clicked. And then they will demand an explanation from me

Dear watercolor! The bus tour is not bad at all if you are lucky with the tour operator. I was not lucky - I went to Italy in October with the TV channel "Let's have a rest." You can read my opinion on the forum. No matter how much the employee of "D.O." imagine me as some capricious spoiled (and also with an unfortunate fate) tourist - all this is not so. I used to go on tours with Arteks and Inkomarttur, but then the devil beguiled me. And after all, I didn’t chase after cheapness - I just couldn’t afford it for more than a week - work ... And my favorite operators have tours from 11-14 days or more. So check first who is preparing the tour (sells any t / agency) and what reviews. But, believe me, Italy is beautiful! Take risks. Have a nice holiday!
