I am planning to travel to Thailand with my teenage son. a complete layman in this direction. your advice regarding: hotel (not VIP), close to the sea, food, price of excursions (and which ones are worth visiting), souvenirs, how much money to take with you. I think in Phuket you go to Katu - a lively village, well-developed food and other infrastructure, no revelry of nightlife, the beach is cozy, beautiful, go on excursions is also well located, not out of the way - it will be just right with a teenager. I liked the Kata Beach Resort there (our people love it very much - their beach, good location, not a high-rise) and Marina Phuket (the beginning of Kata, on the cape, in principle, is also a good place, the park is awesome), but in principle any hotel is good.
