is it worth it to NG???
Actually the subject is as follows: is it worth going to NG and the next couple of days to Kamenets-Podolsky? Where to stay? What to watch?
Because there will be very few days off, then the "abroad" does not shine, so I monitor the options.
Thank you all in advance for your replies/advice.

I celebrated New Year's Eve in Kamyants in 2006 or 2007. Pretty dull, but, quite possibly, something has changed ;-)
In addition, by that time I had been in Kamyants 7-8 times and the sights were no longer very interested in me.
There is not much to do in the city itself, I mean mass entertainment. Elka, mediocre concert. There is no holiday feeling. I expected some kind of action in the castle, I hoped that there would be some kind of fair. Alas. The castle was closed.
If you go with a big company, to a good hotel and just see the sights of the city (if you have not been there before), then this option may be interesting. And you should even go!
If there are two or four of you and you are hoping for a beautiful festive event, then it is better to choose another city for the New Year - Lviv, Chernivtsi ...
IMHO ;-)

in Lviv have already been to NG
I don't like to repeat myself
what about in Chernivtsi?

---Alas. The castle was closed.---
It turns out that all the attractions during the New Year's "vacations" do not work?
sadly...

If you go, then pay attention to the surroundings:
1. Khotyn / Khotyn fortress. Be sure to go! Very beautiful in winter! Only 20-30 min. by minibus from Kamenets.
2. Chernivtsi. 1.5 hours by minibus from Kamenets. You can go there for a day - enough for inspection. The city is very interesting, original. Be sure to check out the university!
3. Bakota. Of course, in the golden autumn or spring it is much more beautiful there than in winter, but the place is amazing! Only by taxi. There is no public transport.
Happy travels!

Zlata28, I wrote about NG about five years ago. It is quite possible that in 2012 it will be different, therefore, I recommend clarifying, firstly, what events are planned. After all, a huge number of festivals, ballooning fairs, knightly battles are held in Kamyants...
But they don't seem to be held on holidays. This is embarrassing!
Then the lock 31/12 worked according to the standard schedule - hours until 17-18 and that's it!!! Even highlighted only 1 tower. At 23:00 there was already silence! We wandered around the city and all that reminded us of the holiday is the garlands on the town hall.

This is NG2007.
And here, for example, in 2009, the knightly festival "Terra Heroica" (in the same album there are pictures from Bakota):

There is a difference???

what about in Chernivtsi?
---------
When snow falls, Chernivtsi is a fabulous city, especially at light twilight. The notion that this is just Ukraine is lost - the sensations are simply unique. Chernivtsi is also called, if I'm not mistaken, little Vienna. Definitely Worth a heartbeat!!

Here is the city's website. It has all the phone numbers of museums (the castle is a museum). By phone at the source, you can check the schedule for New Year holidays and planned events.
Maybe they are planning something interesting within the castle walls. If this is so, then I myself will give up for a couple of days in Kamyanets - there is also no way to go far - a bunch of reports ...
There is also a forum there, it is full of information from local residents ...
In general, look.

grand merci!

Biker_Oksana, now I want to go to Chernivtsi)))))))

You can easily combine Kamyanets and Chernivtsi. For example, take a ticket there to Kamyants, and back from Chernivtsi. That is, you, for example, spend 2-4 days in Kamyants (+ Khotyn-mandatory!). And then in the morning with things on the minibus, things in the luggage room at the railway station and walking around the city - cafes, churches, streets ...
Then to the station, on the train and home.
Or just go from Kamyanets to Chernivtsi in 1 day. Therefore, Chernivtsi in 1 day is much more real to see than Kamyanets-Podolsky. The city is very interesting!

those. like "2 in 1"?
By the way, yes, it's a great choice.
I think that we will stop there
It remains to "process" friends with stories and photos)))

You can also read about Kamyants on the website of Blacky (Irina Pustynnikova), a native of Kamyants, a great lover and researcher of Ukrainian antiquity and hinterland, the author of all sorts of essays, articles and guides to the sights of Western Ukraine.

And here is her LiveJournal http://kamienczanka.livejournal.com/
In comments or in a personal, I think, you can ask what kind of events will take place at NG2012.
Really, no one will tell you the best of it according to Kamyants!

Biker_Oksana, now I want to go to Chernivtsi)))))))

Zlatik, so what's the problem? In Chernivtsi, go, it's easier than in Vienna))))))

No, no, no))) Read very in-depth essays and stories of knowledgeable researchers - steal from yourself the opportunity to become a pioneer where your heart has drifted;) Aunt-researcher will chew everything for you, give you all emotions on a plate - and you won’t sharpen your teeth it will be about something, nevertheless chewed: go there - you will feel a tremor in the limbs from happiness, go here - endorphins will thump into the blood. A journey is like a book: you have to read it yourself, not hear a retelling. Somewhere like that.
The deepest IMHO. Maybe this idea is completely wild and not suitable for general consumption.

I also insist on a mandatory visit to Khotyn!

Here is the mail address of the hotel, the owner, who is himself a historian and a big fan of this whole beauty, answers it. I think that he has information about the New Year, both in the city and the surrounding area, and about the hotel, or he will find out for you - he is a very decent person and will definitely help:

the further the more interesting)))
it turns out already "3 in 1"
Kamenets + Khotyn + Chernivtsi, right?
ideologically, I'm not against, only FOR)))
but is it really possible to fit everything in such a number of days?
we will have a maximum of three or four days (((
аватар hatinka
So Khotyn is very close and fast in time, although very beautiful. Khotin and Kamyanets are always together, read it as 1. So it's still 2 in 1.
аватар hatinka
If 3 days, then Khotin and Kamyanets. If 4 more + Chernivtsi (1 day). I think so
аватар Zlata28
hatinka senks for the tip
and I'm new in "those parts"

We also want to go to the Carpathians for the New Year, but we haven’t decided where exactly yet. We were in Kamenets and Chernivtsi, but it was so long ago that I don’t remember anything, except for some kind of fortress? in Kamenets and the Beautiful city and the most beautiful forest in Chernivtsi (Kuma from the village of Porubny, the border with Romania)
аватар Zlata28
Nadine, if you still absolutely want to go to the Carpathians
then my advice to you: start calling and booking now
because from the experience of our past trips to the Carpathians
(with NG mark)
in November it is already difficult to book something good
in 90% it was already booked (and when do people have time?)
so I had to choose the "best of the worst" (((
but it's just a big company that drives us, maybe that's the problem
if there are two of you, then it might not be so problematic
