Passing the border after changing the name by marriage
Good afternoon! We have a problem, we are going to Ukraine immediately after the wedding, I take my husband's surname, naturally I will not have time to change my passport. Tell me, will they let us through at the border? After all, according to the law, my passport is not valid, but in fact no one can find out if I changed my last name or not, but the passport does not indicate what I changed. In short, I'm confused, help!!!

By law, the passport is valid! (and who just told you nonsense that the passport is not valid?) within a month. You can not change your passport at all if you do not plan to visit visa countries. In the registry office, the surname is crossed out and a stamp is placed. And if the surname is not crossed out, then all the more nothing should worry. You can take a marriage certificate with you, but you are unlikely to show it. Ride and don't be afraid.

If your passport does not have any marks like "To be exchanged" or "Invalid", etc., then you can go. If there are any marks, then you can not go. In this case, it is better to go with a passport, because there are no marks that you have a different surname

I was traveling from Ukraine to Russia with a crossed-out passport (due to a change of surname). This passport is valid! There are no problems.

I don’t have a foreigner, I’ve read forums, they write that they found fault with many, I’m going for the first time, I’m terribly afraid (

The main thing for you is to enter the country and return back before the expiration of a month from the date of marriage registration. That is, while the old passport will still be considered valid

The passport is not considered valid!!! Giving you a month to exchange does not make your passport valid. Nothing can be done about it. At the customs, they can easily turn you back, I have witnessed such cases. They will allow you to leave anyway, but to enter - which customs officer will come across, I would not count on the mercy of the Ukrainians, especially in summer

If you do not have marks in your passport - the surname is subject to exchange or the surname is crossed out - do not fool yourself - customs will not know about your story if you do not tell.
