By occupation, I travel quite often on business trips, and the departure is quite unexpected. Willy-nilly, you have to use rides. In my opinion, there are many advantages: cheaper, faster, in most cases fellow travelers are also interesting interlocutors, not only does the road go unnoticed, but you also get a lot of useful information. And then, in those directions where you travel often, only the first few times the drivers of the ride will be strangers. Then you will get acquainted, exchange contacts with someone, and you will be "close relatives". Which again is convenient: stops for technical reasons, to drink cava, etc. - by agreement.
The world, of course, is full of maniacs. But to meet them - you need to try :)

On this account, I can only say one thing: no one omitted the seat belts. + I'm not shy to say that when I'm scared of fast driving, I'm still scared. I wanted to get out of the car only once (and I’ve been driving for a good 10 years now): I just drove - the young boy already violated all possible traffic rules so much that I just wanted to get out, but before that, hit him hard on the head. We arrived, of course, but for some time after that I did not travel by hitchhike. Although. by and large. and minibuses are now chasing, be healthy. So this is a lottery anyway, and you need to be prepared for this.
