We want to go with our family with our cars (for the first time) from Kherson. Give advice.
Never went to Bulgaria. Please advise, I’m interested in all the nuances: how to get a visa and how much it costs, is there enough photo of a child (9 years old) in the father’s passport, how to get through Romania (subtleties at customs, etc.), does GPS (Garmin) work there, road conditions , is it possible to drive a tinted car, do our waters roll there. certificates (not plastic), what is the best way to go on an excursion to Istanbul (car or express bus), order a hotel from Ukraine or we’ll figure it out on the spot, What currency to bring with you (EU, $, banknotes 10.50)?

I can say for sure that GPS works there. Make sure you have loaded the maps of the countries you will be passing through.
I advise you to break the question into several separate ones, it is unlikely that there will be a person who will know the answers to all your questions.

I will not answer all the questions, but I will say that I know-
1. Visas to avoid steaming, make through a travel agency, in Lviv, for example, for an adult visa with a consular costs 50E, for a child about 100 hryvnia.
(True, everyone breaks down to get one visa, but you can ask). The child has enough pasted photo, just make sure that the father has enough space for 2 visas.
At least documents are required, personal data, copies of Ukrainian passports and codes, 2 photos each.
2. If you are a citizen of Ukraine and are in another country temporarily, you can use our rights (only if it is still Soviet rights, then abroad do not understand what kind of document at all =), there may be problems with them). Monitor the speed parameters (and carefully with any moving objects) in Romania in populated areas.
And check about tolls, this is an important point, there you need to buy a card or something like that, then when you leave they can check in front of customs (not competent, so check).
3. It will be cheaper to book a hotel or apartment on the spot.

Thank you! The rights are not Soviet, just not plastic but laminate, in 2 languages - Ukrainian + English. And what are these moving objects in Romania? Carts or something or bicycles?

Fortuner, tourists went to us last year, there are few britcheks already, (depending on which road you will go) they said that either the dog would run out, then the "cow" u003d). In short, everyone advises to drive through Romania during the day. I will go in 4 weeks, then I can tell you what and how, though by bus. So far I have not been to Bulgaria ((Because there are experts better than me.

I was in Bulgaria last year. A visa costs 35 euros per person. Immediately advice, if you want to go to Turkey, then make a visa with a 2-fold entry into Bulgaria. It costs the same for the money. And then you will not get to Turkey. It is better to go to Turkey by bus - it costs 70 euros for two days with accommodation and breakfast in Istanbul. I don’t recommend going to Istanbul by car - very busy traffic in the city and sometimes not according to the rules! As for the currency, they take dollars and euros without any problems.

Last year we went by car to Sunny Beach from Nikolaev. Visas were opened under a hotel reservation (costs 35 euros). If without a hotel, then within 50 euros. And with an open Bulgarian visa, a visa to Romania is not needed. We went with our GPS - everything works. The money was taken in euros. They also traveled to Istanbul in their own car. At the expense of tinting - we removed the tinting from 2 front windows, the rest were tinted (even the windshield), no one found fault. Our rights (not plastic) roll. At the border, the rear windows were opened completely, but no one paid attention. We were also afraid to go through Romania, but now everything is civilized with them - we didn’t find anything terrible)). If you go to Istanbul, then of course you must open a double-entry visa to Bulgaria, otherwise they will not let you back. Of the documents for the car - be sure to issue a green card and personal insurance.

three years ago I went to Varna myself in an old Ford Sierra 29 years old, repainted with Ukrainian rights, even without a power of attorney, but with a technical ticket issued to me, and a registration certificate to the previous owner. in Odessa, I applied for a visa for 4 days and then through Vilkovo, Izmail, Reni (on the way I checked all the holy places - Tairov, Shabo, Bolgrad, etc.). all documents are sold at the border, but what could I take in Odessa - insurance, etc. most importantly - pay (it was a little), and everyone will be let through. I even had oil dripping from the engine. the Ukrainians balked, but let them out, and the rest let them in. but you need to have a reflective vest. no longer checked. in Galas, I got the Romanians drunk so that two police cars arrived at one in the morning, we made noise and fined 100 euros. vignettes are a must. there the principle is this - do not break, there are almost no police, but if something goes wrong it will be very, very expensive. you will learn everything along the way. people everywhere are good. just pay. They even gave me three cards. driving from memory. the old roads in Romania are very narrow, but the new ones are classy. the Bulgarians were half asleep when I passed them. it's still Europe. Romanians neither in our nor in English - only youth. road markings are good. a little expensive.
