what is the best way to travel by bus from Kyiv: through Odessa or Chernivtsi?
Tell me, please, how best (faster) to go by bus from Kyiv: through Odessa or Chernivtsi? It seems to be faster by km through Odessa, BUT, as I understand it, buses go through Moldova, i.e. it turns out an additional border (Ukraine-Moldova), and this is additional time. And for some reason, all tours through Chernivtsi are cheaper (although the road is longer). Maybe someone can suggest an approximate arrival at the Albena resort, for example, in both cases. Thank you very much in advance!
And one more thing: there used to be another option from Ishmael (Reni) on a boat along the Danube through Romania to Bulgaria. Travel agencies no longer have it?

I'll try to answer you. We traveled to Bulgaria four times by bus from Kyiv. Two through Odessa and two through Chernivtsi.
In my opinion, there are pros and cons to both routes. The first route is shorter by 200 km, but more goes through the territory of Ukraine, that is, make allowances for our dead roads (not the whole way, but it will shock enough). Indeed, there are a lot of borders because of Moldova, but somehow we didn’t have to stand for a long time. I consider the downside of this route to be the open southern route, in summer it can be very hot on the bus. The option through Chernivtsi seemed to me more “civilized” and one border (we don’t consider the Bulgarian one, as a rule they pass it quickly), but it is loaded and both times we had to stand there a lot. This route passes through the cities and along the route there is a forest, rivers, beautiful places, in general, it is not so tedious and not so hot. usually begins the "collection" or "delivery" of tourists in the cities, and this is additional time.
No one can say how long it will take you. This will be influenced by the season, the number of people on the bus, the number of stops, who the drivers will be (the Bulgarians, for example, drive with might and main, ours are not), the time at which you will pass the borders and the number of buses on it with tourists like you (before us in 5 filled buses lined up last year), well, and other “luck” factors
Definitely better to go at the end of the season. Not so hot, less people and better prices. Our personal record was in September with 19 passengers - departure at 7 am Kyiv, arrival - at night in Golden Sands, i.e. only 18-19 hours on the road. Other times I do not remember, but from 24 hours or more.
There is no boat on the Danube, I found out. Or rather, he himself is, it seems to be called Sunrise, it transports mainly Romanians, you can probably even find a schedule on the internet. But our tour operators are not represented. Too bad it's a much shorter route.

In my opinion, the most convenient option is the train!
Get in Kyiv on the passing train "Moscow - Sofia", and get off in Burgas or Russy or in another necessary city in Bulgaria. (For the summer period there are trailer cars for different cities in Bulgaria). Cars with air conditioning, a decent dining car. And leaving Bulgaria you take a taxi for 1 hour. you will be anywhere you want. Train travel time (with an error of up to a couple of hours) according to the schedule. And well-being after 24 hours. riding a train or bus, and even if the kids are small ... you already understand the difference.

I travel to Bulgaria in different ways, the most comfortable of all was, of course, Wizzair and insanely pleasant for the price (in April I flew for 309 UAH, isn’t it a fairy tale?). By train with children - yes, it is more comfortable, but very long, in fact 42 hours. It makes sense to travel by train on the coast if you have a vacation of 21-28 weeks or even more. And so out of 10 vacation days, 2 are lost. Trailer cars, Allex17 are only available to Varna and Burgas, and not all days. The bus is better through Chernivtsi unambiguously. In Albena you will be at 9-10 in the morning if the carrier is normal. Do not chase cheap tickets, choose a 1.5 bus (not a 2-story one) and a large number of drivers (Doris, for example, has been driving for the 15th, there are drivers whom I know personally).

Thanks a lot for the replies!
desm91, and did your personal record take place through Odessa or through Chernivtsi? ;-) And, maybe, tell me, what travel agencies did you travel with? And would you recommend any? By the way, if you arrive at night or in the morning, are they immediately settled in the hotel? After all, many hotels check-in after 12-00 or even 14-00.
I'm just going to go at the beginning of September.

I'm afraid the train will be a little expensive ... And are there any tickets?

check-in from 14.00 hours, carrier company Doris, returned a couple of days from Bulgaria, passed Izmail, left the resort at 16.30 and arrived in Kyiv around 17.00, asked to make a stop on the Teremki metro station, no problem!

Alice 73_ Through Odessa? Check-in at hotels from 14-00. At that time, we agreed with the administrator, paid half the cost of the day and settled in another room, slept, and somewhere after 12 in the afternoon our room was prepared for us and we moved. But we were put on bracelets at night and our all started in the morning, extended like this say vacation?
We went with Albena-Travel, TK-Welt and the Odessa tour operator Almariss. Of these, I would recommend perhaps Albena. Own charters, great experience in this direction, director-Bulgarian, prices are normal. True, it is better to go to them immediately with the chosen hotel option (they have an online search on their website), because managers do not devote enough time to consultations. And to pay and arrange the docks - this is please.
Almarissa had good hotel prices (I don't know about this year), but their bus charter was a nightmare, so I support Natassha Kiev, it's better sometimes to pay more and be calm for yourself and your loved ones.
You can also look at the tour operators Alma-Tour, Apollonia, Alf. From Chernivtsi carries a lot of local operators. Chernivtsi BCP Kreis has a bus with berths, for example. I can’t imagine how it is, but since you even asked about the Danube boat, then for info ;)
I love Bulgaria and I myself am always looking for “faster-cheaper-more convenient”?

desm91, thank you very much!
I looked closely at Alma Tour and Albena Travel as Bulgarian tour operators. But they have through Odessa. Through Chernivtsi found at News Travel. Didn't you like it very much with TC Welt?
On the Danube boat I went to Bulgaria twice :-) So I know from personal experience. But that was 10 years ago...

By the way, TC Welt brought Doris to the Ukrainian market, my husband worked as a steward on their bus line. There is also a Bulgarian chef in TK Welt) Now he travels with Doris and News Travel, all my tourists this year went on bus tours with News Travel. The good thing is that they can book front seats (they are, however, more expensive), and there are mini-transfers to the hotel from the bus stop - this service is already included in the price.

Natassha_Kiev, I'm sorry, but are you a travel agent (if you're talking about "your" tourists)?
аватар Natassha_Kiev
at first I was just the wife of a Bulgarian, then I was a representative of the host at a Bulgarian resort, I worked for 3 seasons, took tourists on excursions, now the mother of 2 Bulgarian girls - with the Bulgarian names Iskra and Boryana, and yes, I have my own tour company accredited in the village -ve Bulgaria) I know the names of travel companies working in Bulgaria listed here not only by hearsay, but I know many leaders personally.
