Inexpensive vacation with two children in Bulgaria (an alternative to the South Coast)
I am looking for an alternative to the South Coast in Bulgaria. We want to travel by car with two children. The children are one and four years old. We plan to rest from the beginning of August for two weeks.
Who can advise which city is better to go?
And also, if someone knows inexpensive places to stay.
We have a demand and a desire.
Requirement: Affordable housing with the ability to prepare a meal for a small child.
Desire: to have a suitable climate for a child who has respiratory problems.

The right decision, otherwise rest in the Crimea may turn out to be a struggle for survival. By car is the best option, you will leave at 5 in the morning and by 22-00 you will be in the Burgas region, depending on which route you choose and where your path starts from. , I haven’t seen it in Bulgaria, but the quality of rest is an order of magnitude higher. Prices are also normal in Bulgaria - my wife and I visit the Janet Hotel in St. Vlas every year - 20 euros / day, without meals, there are 10 euros, but a little more modest. In Alupka in the guest "Forest", the price, all other things being equal, is 100 euros / day plus parking is paid, well, God bless them. Finding apartments in Bulgaria is very simple - Bulgarian sites, or the site "About Bulgaria in Russian", I'll dig in the bins - I'll throw off the links as a personal message. Soon to appear on the Poola website - an amazing woman from Belarus, she knows all the details of a holiday in Bulgaria to the smallest detail, she will probably give useful advice. Well, I can help plan a route, suggest the details of a car trip (roads, customs, overnight stays on the way , vignettes, etc.)

Here is Poola. Try to contact Pomorie. I accidentally stumbled upon the address of the owners and wrote it down for myself. e-mail: [email protected] The town is good, the district is also good, in the Old Town. They write that for a 2-bed room - 30 lev (about 15 euros) per day. This is a private apartment. From the sea 40 meters. If it does not fit, write to me in a personal, we will select another. But usually private apartments are 500 meters from the sea. It would be nice if you write that inexpensive housing is for you.

Unfortunately, Bulgaria does not have such a salubrious climate for the treatment of lower respiratory organs as the Crimea, but, like any sea air, it contributes to the prevention of diseases of the upper respiratory tract (tonsillitis). For treatment, it is better to choose Montenegro. Which resort in Bulgaria to choose? See: Pomorie, Tsarevo, Obzor - calm (relatively) towns, but there is absolutely no nature here. Sunny Beach - here you can find housing for any wallet, just keep in mind that this is quite a party place. Albena is a green good resort. Prices here are only a little expensive. Nessebar is a pleasant town for recreation with comfortable mini-hotels-apartments. There is an Old and a New part of the city, it is relatively calm here (compared to Sunny Beach) and at the same time, there is where to take a walk even in the evening, it is beautiful and pleasant. Good hotels are located in Elenite - this is an elite resort. Good accommodation and good reviews this year in Sunny Beach deserved the Inzola Paradise hotel with an all-inclusive food system. There is also a promotion: 2 children with 2 adults - free of charge. Apartments (good) in Bulgaria this year - an average of 30 euros

Further on prices: the exchange rate of the lev to the hryvnia is 1:9 (i.e., multiply all prices in levs by 9). Prices in supermarkets are the same as in Ukraine. In the markets, too (fruits are a bit more expensive this year). In a cafe to eat: a portion of soup - 2-3 leva; a salad 3-4 leva, a portion of the second 6-7 leva. Portions are big. Expensive household chemicals and hygiene items in supermarkets - if you go by car, take it with you (for example, a jar of Nivea aftershave balm in terms of UAH costs 120 UAH, similarly, a jar of Elsev shampoo, which I buy in Ukraine for 33 UAH, there is almost 100. Too - with sunscreens, etc.

In a word, I would recommend you to look for apartments in Nessebar. There is an optimal ratio: climate - good apartments for an affordable price - inexpensive food prices - well, just a beautiful Old Town, where you can go for a walk in the evenings.
Another option: if you go to Bulgaria from the 20th of August, the prices will be an order of magnitude lower and there will be fewer people

Nessebar is a very beautiful town. But the age of the children is one year and four. I think another place is better. You just don't get along with them. There will be no cheap housing on the first line. I agree that Poola will tell you the right option. Good luck! And the health of the children. We also took our own to Bulgaria, because of frequent bronchitis. Now a healthy young man!

Elenite is NOT an elite resort, but an anthill with unsanitary conditions. The name of the hotel in Sunny Beach is Isola Parodays (not Inzola), 500 m from the sea, we were there. But how do they cook there? There are really apartments with a kitchen - Karina beach, Casa bravo. Cosmetics and perfumes are expensive, only imported (Nivea, etc.) And there is Bulgarian, very good and cheap. If we talk about Nessebar, then inexpensive hotels there are sold out in the winter, but there are no conditions for cooking. Better then Ravda. There are very quiet hotels in Sunny Beach. Selena-2 in the northern part, close to the sea. There was 1 or 2 apartments. Is there a kitchen, I don't know. We had a standard room. Again, it all depends on the budget, which we don't know. I agree that discounts start from 23. But the child is better early to warm up well. After several years of trips to Bulgaria, my son's bronchitis completely stopped. We rest in August.

Thanks for the links, I'll look into it now.
Our journey starts from Vinnitsa and we plan to travel for two days, somewhere with an overnight stay. Previously, in Izmail (if you go through Odessa), but if you tell me the best option for spending the night or the route, I will be grateful!

So the emphasis on climate is no longer necessary. I understand that it is almost the same everywhere.
Looking at satellite images of Bulgaria, it is clear that the southeastern part of the country is all green, so I thought that the climate is better there ...

You asked about the budget. I would like to invest in 1000 dollars for 14 days (housing + food, no road). This is approximately 70 euros per day for two adults and one child, the second eats like a child. And if you like it, then stay for a few more days.

In Zhivkovsky times, there was a medical sanatorium in this town, the air is cool, and another joke ... no mosquitoes http://www.svetivlas.su/

I didn’t really understand about the pictures, but the resorts of Bulgaria are roughly divided, like the northern part, and there are Varna, Golden Sands, Albena. There is more greenery and a little cooler by 2-3 degrees. And the southern part is Burgas, Sunny Beach, Pomorie, Nessebar, Sozopol. It's warmer there. Sozopol is the hottest, closer to Turkey. If you are traveling in August, then everything suits you, if in September, then the southern part. You decide. But you should start not with the climate, it is, believe me, comfortable, but with the choice of a hotel or apartment. Much is already on the foot or booked.
аватар alex181
Unfortunately, I will not be able to take advantage of the discounts that start at the end of August. Therefore, I'm only counting on the very beginning of August.

Thanks for pointing out the cities. Now I have settled on two cities: Pomorie and Nessebar. I will learn more about them and make a choice.
And what can you say about Primorsko?
аватар irinavladnik
This is not 1 thousand dollars, but 1 thousand euros. 70x14=980
аватар irinavladnik
Well you are going in the highest season! People book everything in winter. August is simply the best month by Bulgarian standards! The highest prices!
аватар irinavladnik
I think the private sector is Pomorie. What the experts say. I want to help, two children, but severely, in terms of budget

irinavladi71
Yes, indeed, I was wrong. That would have been about 50 euros per day. I'll have to raise my budget...
The fact that he began to choose late is understandable. There were reasons for this. Better late than never. Will have to pay.

now the "collective mind" will come up with something. There is always a way out. All the same, how many people!

___________
here I give you an orientation on prices right today from Sunny Beach (to understand that it will not be cheap here.) 1 liter of milk - 3 levs (27 UAH), a liter of juice - 4-6 levs. In a cafe, do not disperse: a portion of fish 15 leva, pizza -10, a meat pan with vegetables - 28 leva
As for Primorsko, it will be cheaper here, but, as for me, you shouldn’t drag yourself all the way to Bulgaria for the sake of Primorsko - you will find this good near Odessa (and maybe more colorful) - and without paying for a visa and paying for gasoline roads. And the climate is the same.

We also have clean air and a sandy beach in Azure, with such small children for two days in a car, I would not risk it!
аватар Zhanna1503
Prices this year are an order of magnitude higher than in the past, a large increase in inflation in Bulgaria. Who rested this year, I think was "pleasantly" surprised
аватар irina_1901
Nessebar is not to be considered. In August (this is the high season) there is nowhere for an apple to fall on a free beach. And on a paid umbrella for 8 lev (4 euros), sunbeds also for 8. It is expensive. At other resorts from 5. If Primorsko, then dial: Primorsko, Navigator, hotel on the seashore. You can see Kranevo, but with a kitchenette, only Margarita, not cheap. In St. Constantine, Villa Marciana would suit you, it is inexpensive, but 20 minutes from the sea. Here, if without a kitchen. Write what you want to cook? do you need a kitchen? There is no more expensive period than you have in Bulgaria. I'll look for something today.

I agree that it will be hard, but I want to go to a distant place by car at least once. And then all the trains and trains ...

I looked at the Navigator and noticed that there is an electric stove rental service. This is also suitable for us, I can even take my own. The main thing is to be allowed to use it.
We need to cook and heat soup or porridge for a one-year-old child.
Wrote a letter to Pomorie at your coordinates, while they are silent.
I will probably stop at Pomorie. There are options on Bulgarian sites, but it is a pity that the language barrier does not allow you to call directly to clarify all the nuances.
аватар Zhanna1503
If you are sure, go for it, we went abroad with ours only at the full 7 years! somehow worried where and how to spend time with the baby! but now we are already considering all the options and the plane and the bus

Primorsko compared to Pomorie?
They are approximately the same in terms of surroundings and price offers. I mean, with two small children and a relatively small budget, I see no reason to go to Bulgaria in Primorsko_Pomorie-Obzor. The climate here is no healthier than our Odessa-Nikolaev; there are no beauties - a bare plain, prices are higher. Those. to calculate a rather long road with kids, the cost of gasoline, visas for the sake of rest in Primorsko-Pomorie? Don't know. As for me, in this case, the resorts of our Odessa or Nikolaev region will be much easier, closer and cheaper for you. You can find here in the same cozy villages in the direction of Illichevsk like Gribovka or Sanzheyka, so as not to jostle in Zatoki-Koblevy ... The climate is similar, the road is closer, the prices are cheap (our friends with a child in Sanzhiyka rent a house for 200 UAH ). You just need to understand exactly the purpose of the trip to Bulgaria: recovery, here it is similar to our above-mentioned seas. Nothing better. Prices are higher this year. The road for kids is long and tedious. Look at the beauty - well, they are not in Primorsko or Pomorie.

Bulgaria is not Crimea, not Montenegro, not Croatia. Bulgaria is the climate of our "Odessa Sea". The result will be the same. Of the main disadvantages, the cost this year plus is really a difficult road for two kids. It makes sense to go to Bulgaria when you want to travel there a little, go somewhere, get acquainted with the local cuisine, etc. Or if you need a "lazy" all-inclusive vacation or "today I cook, tomorrow we eat in a cafe and don't bother ". But this year Bulgaria is quite expensive. And to go so far just to live in a rather unpresentable Primorsko and at the same time cook from products whose price this year is also not encouraging (now in Ukraine it is an order of magnitude cheaper than in Bulgaria. At least we have milk at 22-27 UAH per liter you do not buy, as well as packaged juices at 30-40 UAH)). Personally, in this situation, I would choose our sea in a small village, where there is a huge beach line, few people, products at affordable prices, and within 10-20 minutes by car (or by minibus if desired) - you can get somewhere . If you want peace, sit with the kids here. If they wanted movement, they went to Ilyichevsk or Odessa and returned to silence
