Dunes is a separate resort, from there you can only go to Sozopol by taxi. For me, it's a golden cage.
Elenite, my personal opinion, an anthill with unsanitary conditions, rotovirus "thrives" there in the summer. But there are lovers, both at one and the other resort. The dunes are more expensive than Elenite.
If you are interested in slides, etc., then my advice is to take a good hotel in Sunny Beach. Look at Tiara Beach, Eureka Beach, RIU Parodies. As I understand it, you are ready for the money if you are considering the Dunes.

-if you go in June, Elenite is better, for some reason it was warmer there, perhaps due to the fact that there is a huge forest in the Dunes, but in July-August it is better there;
- in Elenite, book a villa on the 1st line and you will enjoy the sound of the surf at night (20m to the sea), in the Dunes on the first line there are only skyscrapers, with a completely different noise;
- from Elenite-Nessebar, Dunes-Sozopl, the most colorful cities in Bulgaria and all on their own;
-Elite a cheaper and more democratic vacation, the Dunes are more expensive, although not much and "disponded", but in fact get ready for a purely Bulgarian "abyyakavasti", i.e. enough unobtrusive service and enjoy the rest of the benefits of the huge Elenite and Dunes hotel complexes, whatever you choose...
