Good afternoon! You know, or I was lucky, or something else, but I went to Bulgaria many times by bus and everything is OK, although the reviews, I agree, are different.
I don’t remember who was the carrier the first time, the double-decker bus was so-so,
but, all subsequent times I went with the carrier "Doris", they were once advised to me by the Bulgarians, and everything is always okay (last year we generally reached Sunny Beach in 25 hours, although we drove carefully). here is the carrier's website www. doris-ua.com

And yes, I travel from Kyiv, if you go from Odessa or Chernivtsi, then there are still a bunch of better options, BUT, I don’t advise you to specially go to one of the cities and get on the bus there - much more tiring than just riding the bus from Kyiv.

I traveled with both TPG and DORIS.
Everything is great and no problems. If from Odessa, then there are minibuses dangling. You can get there much faster.
