I ask you to help in compiling the route SB-Sozopol.
We want to rent a car in SB and drive to Sozopol. The question is which places along this route are better to visit in order to see and appreciate the beauty of these places.

Your path will lie through Nessebar (it, like Sozopol, is an architectural heritage of UNESCO), Pomorie (an interesting town with a Bulgarian population. The Old Town deserves attention, but there is nothing to see in the New Town. Sit in a restaurant on the waterfront, the food there is inexpensive, try sea cuisine), then Burgas is a big city, but I don’t see anything special there, and then a direct road to Sozopol past the small seaside town of Sinemorets.

Last year we took a car and drove from SB to Varna, to Burgas, to Sozopol. The husband was very sorry that they took it late, did not have time to go to Sofia. So be sure to travel, the roads are excellent, everyone drives very carefully. I sat next to my husband with a tablet, we had the Maps program loaded, and led the route. The best memories of Bulgaria we have are these trips. On the way to Sozopol, Nessebar, Pomorie, Burgas will be on your way. We went to Nessebar separately, so we didn’t waste time; we stopped in Pomorie, circled along the coast and left: there was even nowhere to park the car to take a walk. In Burgas, on the outskirts, on Transportnaya Street, there is a large shopping center Burgas Plaza, it is also better to visit it separately, time flies there unnoticed. Better go to the Seaside Park, however, we had to land a few blocks away and go down to the sea along a pedestrian street, where we had lunch. There are many shops and cafes on Aleksandrovsky Boulevard. The road from Burgas to Sozopol runs along the sea. At the entrance to the city, we first skipped the turn to the left into the Old Town and drove to the new Sozopol. In the cities of Bulgaria, parking a car is a whole problem, there are prohibition signs everywhere,

so we did not walk around the new city, turned around and went to the old one. In general, Sozopol is located in a mountainous area, it is a lot of hard to walk out of habit. But for some reason I liked the town more than Nessebar, although they are similar. We left the car in a paid parking lot for one hour, this time was enough for us to visit the church underground, look at the ancient ruins, wander through quiet streets without tourists, relax in a tiny cafe located on a sheer cliff right above the sea. We got back much faster, we drove around Burgas from the side of the airport. By and large, if you don’t visit it at all, you won’t lose much, Varna is more interesting. So be sure to take the car, it's so great! Of course, there are organized excursions to Sozopol, they are brought to the Ropotamo River, but I didn’t like the organization of excursions in Bulgaria, it’s better to do it myself. I hope my review was helpful to you.

A minibus runs from SB to Nessebar, so you don’t need to take a car. Sozopol after Nessebar will not make much impression, just like all the towns and villages along the way. I advise you to visit Sliven, Plovdiv, Dryanovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Shipka, Gabrovo by car.

ovkomissarova is very helpful. Especially about the church underground and the cafe above the sea))))) I am becoming more and more convinced that I need to go by car. Tell me more - did you take any guidebook? Or how did you find out about these places?

You know, they just wandered around Sozopol, asking how to get there. Before entering the city, I scored the sights of Sozopol in a search engine and chose what to visit. We rested with children, so it was important for us to manage our time ourselves. We went to Nessebar for the first time by bus. It seems not far, but the road seemed endless: everyone is standing close, drenched in sweat. My husband categorically refused to take the bus back, we decided to take a boat ride, it cost us five more than in a taxi, but we combined business with pleasure. If we had a rest without children, we would gladly go to Plovdiv and other places, but the road is rather heavy, the terrain is mountainous, you won’t get there quickly.
