Dollars or Euros?
We are going to Sozopol in June 2011. Our currency is dollars. It just so happened :). It seems to me that it is economically unprofitable to convert dollars into euros in Ukraine, then to change euros into levs in Sozopol. So we go with dollars. Actually, the question is - with a budget of $ 600 for two for 10 days, will we not feel disadvantaged in terms of food and buying small souvenirs? I would like to wave once more to Nessebar. Accommodation with us in Sunny 3* with breakfast. Also, where is the best place to change? Thanks.

Good morning! I want to thank you for your review of the hotel. We booked a room at "Sanny" for August.

Hey everyone, I'm in Sunny right now. I have great sympathy and respect for the reviews of Velgas, everything is fair, but my expectations were different. To be honest, I'm somewhat disappointed. The territory is very small, there is nowhere to walk, wander, as it is possible in 5 * hotels in Turkey, only the pool and around it, there is nowhere for children to run. Right behind the fence there is a busy road, I go to the beach with the children through it, alas. The road to the beach is covered with stones and a steep descent, it is difficult for me with a stroller. But the sea is magical, warm, shallow. Children are happy. In the mornings, small biting tweezers swim, but by the evening they are gone.
The main downside is the food! I did not expect such monotony and salty-pepper-McDonald's taste. 3 years ago I was in Bulgaria, I was delighted with the food. And here it is monotonous and bad, I just remember the Turkish splendor. I have dinners included in the package, hoping to feed the kids quickly. Alas, there is nothing. Already 3 days chicken soup with noodles and potatoes, the meat is terrible, from fruits - only watermelon, desserts - a strange cream. Oh, where's the lovely baked goods?!
And the rooms are average, no shampoo even. The curtains are thin, it is difficult for children to sleep during the day, the sun beats. You can hear everything from the corridor because of the cracks in the doors. I will write more, but do not expect fairy tales, average

Good afternoon kfte88! Write, please, what is the view from your room and on what floor are you settled? Does the hotel have an indoor pool or is it just an outdoor pool? Are there shops nearby where you can buy food, since the food is so bad? I am traveling with my husband and son, so they will be forever hungry with such food. Sincerely, Svetlana.

They settled on the 3rd, as I understand it, a sea view is not for sale in Ukraine, because we have a view of the wasteland behind the hotel, right below us is the household yard. But quiet and wonderful cicadas. The view of the sea is also not the best option - it is noisy there, it is far from the sea, and the view is blocked by unfinished buildings, of which there are many.
There is no indoor pool, of course. The hotel is quite small. Outdoor is pretty decent and clean, but the sea is better :)
In 5 minutes (it takes me all 10 with my children) walk along the road there is a shop, if you walk 15 minutes - a supermarket, but it's crowded and crowded. But on the waterfront (10 min) a huge number of restaurants, for any budget, believe me. It's hard to stay hungry in Bulgaria :) I have small children, it's hard for me to walk far in the heat, but today I already went, hunger called. By the way, fruits are cheap - peaches 2 leva, apricots, pears - also 2 leva per kg (this is about 1 euro).
So come, the weather is luxurious :)
By the way, there is an Internet, you can buy a voucher for 3 leva, but there are other ways :) I sometimes go for free, under different wi-fi addresses.
Write if you have any questions, good luck to everyone!

kate88, thanks for the reply. I would also like to know if they change euros to levs right at the hotel? And how is the beach: is it clean?; are there lifeguards on the beach?; and judging by the photos from the hotel, you can get to 2 beaches separated by some kind of ledge of stones (this is what I represent from the photos)?
Thanks in advance!
аватар kate88
Hey! Yes, the hotel changes euros without any problems, and we only change there. It is difficult with children and far from the center, the difference in exchange is 3 leva per hundred, which is about 1.5 euros, for us it is not the price of the issue.
The beach is really divided by a cliff, we go to a distant piece, it is clean and shallow. Occasionally there are cigarette butts in the sand, but in general it is very clean, cleaned, buoys, everything is fenced, a long entry into the sea. Read the review of Velgas, everything is so! :) There are no lifeguards in sight, only an uncle who collects money for renting umbrellas and sun loungers. He also blows a whistle if a catamaran approaches the shore. But there are few of them - catamarans are the main entertainment on the main beach. They were there too, it's deeper and dirtier. Today I saw a car that cleaned the sand and the beach. Compared to Varna (it was in 2008), it is clean here!
Good luck, come, there are a lot of people, but there is a place for everyone, it's not like the crowded Crimea, where there is nowhere to put a towel :)

Hi all. Then they asked me about the beach, there are still plenty of places, there are not many people, i.e. at any time you can borrow both a paid umbrella (2.5 euros per day), and put an umbrella for yourself for free and enjoy. The sea is not very good now, algae. But warm. Every day it feels like the season has come - there is more garbage on the beach, especially on weekends - many locals come to rest. But there is no comparison with the Crimea - there are fewer people here, and it is much cleaner.
In general, I am less and less satisfied with the hotel, the restaurant is better, the prices are high, the food is very monotonous, not tasty! Go to the city to eat, there is plenty to choose from. The waiters of the girl do not speak English, they do not know Russian at the hotel, they constantly confuse the order, they bring food for a long time. But male waiters are better, attentive, although this does not affect the quality of food, alas.
There is absolutely no place to walk on the territory of the hotel, and to take a walk, you need to walk along the road and then along the street with restaurants and crowds for a long time - 20-30 minutes to the old city. The park is only in the old town, there are entirely new buildings and long-term construction, and hotels are stumbled everywhere, parking ... The roads are bad, the sidewalks are narrow. Today we were at the Calispo Hotel, so there the pool works longer, and the Internet is free. Choose your hotel carefully, my advice

Today returned from SUNNY. The impression is very ambivalent. On the one hand, I really liked the weather, the sea and the sandy beach. On the other hand, the impression was that the Bulgarians are greedy and take money for every sneeze. We rested with children 7 and 13 years old. With food, as kate88 wrote, it's really terrible. On the first day, we went with the children to the city for lunch (we had dinner and breakfast at the hotel). At night, our youngest betrayed all the consequences of poisoning with a temperature. We think that dirty hands were the reason, because. with the rest everything is OK. I had to clean up all the consequences in the room with a towel (nothing else), which I left on the floor in the bathroom. After cleaning the room, the towel was not taken away for washing and the soiled sheet on the bed was not changed. A lady with a reception came with a claim that we ruined their property. I had to manually wash it, then they changed it. The last 4 days, only we went for dinner, and this is a plus, because. served personally, but had to beg for an extra piece of bread. We left at 4 am, and instead of breakfast they were given dry rations - 2 pieces of bread, a transparent piece of sausage, a piece of cheese and a piece of cucumber 5 cm. They barely asked for water.

MORE ABOUT BULGARIAN GREED. We flew back with BULGARIA AIR. At the airport, during the inspection, a girl walks along the line and asks to put tubes of lipstick and mascara into the plastic bag she offers. When I put together what I had, she says: "You have 2 levs or 50 rubles." The flight attendants are unfriendly, if not rude. Requests are reluctantly answered or not heard at all. During take-off, caramels were not offered, from drinks - only water, there was almost no food. I don’t know, greed is their national trait, or the crisis “covered” them like that.

I want to advise those with children - choose well the places in the city where there is, otherwise the truth may be poisoning, in numerous restaurants they often take both money and food with their hands. We ate at the Onegin restaurant, Russian cuisine. There food is more familiar to our children, excellent soups and side dishes, chicken skewers. I even give it to my 2 year old son. A restaurant on the corner of Ropotamo and Republican, a little off the main shopping street, 10 minutes walk from Sunny. If you get to the Barakuda restaurant on the main street, turn left (to the right is the beach) and walk to the crossroads. There is a sign there - Russian cuisine. But there is also an excellent Bulgarian menu, clean, fast, not very expensive. Barakuda, Windmill (in the center), Selena are also famous. I sometimes feed the children at the hotel - there is a SBA supermarket on Republican Street, where you can buy everything - milk, cottage cheese, muesli, children. food, etc., even fried meat, and fried right in front of you in the supermarket.
About flights - I sympathize, but we were not fed there on the way, this is such a charter format.
In Sunny, they really take money for everything, I spoke with Bulgarian guests, they were not happy with Sunny, they say they take money but don’t think about clients.

But in general, in other hotels it can be worse, in the neighboring Mazes breakfast is not a buffet, there are problems.
We moved to a room with a sea view - on the first day I asked to be moved, they booked a room for our 3rd week, and we moved. The room has a better view from the windows, but much more noisy in the evenings - cars, music from the bar. well, we paid extra about 10 euros per day, although it could have been more expensive, our partners helped us.
There are many different impressions, in 3 weeks I’ll say for sure - that Sunny is not all of Bulgaria, there are many good features in the rest here - the sea, the cuisine, and the weather. Write if you have any questions

The level of service on board is not a charter format, but a carrier format. They flew there with the RUSSIA airline (of course, a charter), so their service is at its best, as in regular flights. This summer I had to make several flights (not charter). RUSSIA and UTAIR are GOOD, and KUBAN AIRLINES are better than BULGARIA AIR.

For those who are interested in the availability of the Internet in SUNNY. This page says "This hotel offers free Wi-Fi"
http://www.booking.com/hotel/bg/sunny.ru.html?aid=333244;sid=69e858a452adf6c66fe68c346e2590a9
The reception does not talk about this, and the guide that met us also kept silent about it. I used - when searching, two open channels were found - Hotel SUNNY HS 2 and Hotel SUNNY HS 3-1.
