Bavaro is something like the Punta Cana area, the beach where the hotels are located. The country is poor, there are no particularly interesting restaurants outside the hotels, so eateries for locals. There are discos, but they are quite specific and the music is mostly local with its own flavor. Regarding discos, you should check with the meeting or hotel guides, since it is not advisable to get into a Haitian disco, it is too dangerous.
